>The Evil Within
Yeah, the jankiness and the bugs are surreal
Hotel Mario
only game I can think of is LSD for PS1 and even then it's a stretch
Drakengard 3
>half the cast turns into doves at one point and flies away
based
what's not surreal about killer7?
American McGee's Alice?
Eternal Darkness?
>all these people who haven't read any Breton thinking surrealism is just "lol dude trippy visuals"
yeah baby, came here to post this.
Earthbound
>i could tell people what it really means and spread knowledge but instead i'll just post a reaction image and act superior
I said “based”, meaning I approve of the post I’m replying to.

What's the vidya equivalent of this?
Middens
He did spread knowledge in a way.
Unless you're so stupid that you think Breton is just a TES race.
There is pretty much only one worth mentioning.
It's called The Void.
It's pretty good, but incredibly hard and - as you'd expect from an actually surrealist game - weird and confusing as hell.
Kentucky Route Zero, Pathologic 2 and Deadly Premotion are somewhat close to Lynchian magical realism.
>Kentucky Route Zero
Is this finished yet?
Rain World
Not yet. Last chapter is still missing.
Terrible fucking "game"
Headache inducing audio and visuals
Make a minor 200 millisecond error with color drawing? Your game becomes unwinnable four hours later
isnt the void legit unfinishable?
Visuals and audio are absolutely beatiful. And while the game is pretty fucking harsh and has a lot of issues, nothing like you described actually happens. What the fuck is wrong with you?
It's entirely finishable (unless you try to con it and use the "easy patch"). It's very hard and frankly, the final stretch of the game is a real pain in the ass and arguably not really worth pushing trough, it is entirely finishable. It is a question if it's necessary to finish, as the final stretch does not really add that much to the point of the game.
yume nikki
All good picks, with killer7 being arguably the best and the only one that really stands as its own full "game".
This and Psychonauts have some surreal visuals but outside of that they're relatively straight forward. Still worth checking out though.
It will fuck you over whenever it can, but it's definitively doable if you know what you're doing.
Save frequently, optimize your gardening, and decide early on which sister you want to save, so you don't waste your color on the others.
>Headache inducing audio and visuals
Do you have brain damage by any chance?
Is there an ETA on when it's coming?
only an IRA
I know this doesnt count and everyone will laugh, but I played DOOM and Prey (the new ones) while I was tripping on LSD and had some seriously fucking strange life changing experiences. Its like you really take for granted how immersive new games are, felt like it was all real.
Based
man i gotta try LSD one of these days
also, based.
>acid & vidya
>doesn't play a bullet hell
what a waste

I think Paradigm fits the bill?
Fucking DOOM felt like a bullet hell, I mean like youre right up in there and the demons are real. Its very difficult to put into words. Also the 2d nature of bullet hell would be impossible to keep track of, if anything because the visuals would blend together and youd just die.
All games are inherently surreal.
Braid
Real life.
*dabs*
What is this game called? please
Ony one of those games even resembles surrealism.
Never mind, found it.
For anyone who wants to know its called "Hylics"
Armed & Delirious.
Au Sable
Deadly Premonition is pretty good suggestion, don't you agree Zach?
How hasn't this been mentioned yet?
OFF
That game really is like a Salvador Dali panting come to life.
Drakengard
Off Peak
OFF.
How do I go about playing this in current year?
...it's right there in the filename.
