The Power Star flash films are probably my favorites of all time. Rise of the Mushroom Kingdom is a better celebration of Mario, but Power Star is not only more interesting on a technical level, but the focus on the level of violence is really something to be admired. Really great stuff that you don't see much in animation these days in terms of keeping it entirely fresh on a moment-to-moment basis.

Fucking hate how D-Sun handled 4, all that said. What a copout ending. Piano music at the end is kino, though; and the voice actor for Mario is so fucking good. Hope he's made a living off his voice.

But from what I remember, IIRC, the guy who Gamecrazed was based on had like some fucking edgy teenager period or something and the teaser trailer for the Season 3 finale had Gamecrazed saying stuff along the lines of "I am an atheist cause my parents blah blah" (the teaser has since been lost and the archive of it got deleted alongside the Season 1-4 Opening and the "movie" flash animation) and had him merge with some virus to become that Samurai thingy form called "Redemption"

Like a faint memory, sprite animations represented something special on the internet. Between the parody of childhood content, the incredible OC people were creating, the amount of uncontrollable autism that would run through the veins of these creators, it was a simple time.
Stuff like this could never exist in the modern day internet. That's not necessarily a bad thing, though. This era of content is forever preserved in the past, barely being touched outside of the occasional piece of e-celeb drama from an old creator. But since this content is all but dead, it can't be tainted. It's forever remembered for what it was, and nothing can change that.
Many of these creators have moved on, passed away, became something they swore they never would, or broke into the professional industry. With every piece of internet content nowadays revolving around becoming a personality, animation doesn't survive. But what's left of animation is beautiful.

I post this every newgrounds thread, but does anyone remember a Sonic oc flash that had the characters try to find letters that gave them powers. I remember a hedgehog grabbing the letter A and getting a power called Apple Tree.

There are still some sprite animator around doing their thing, it has improved a lot since then, but a lot of then moved out to places like youtube and the like since then because of how is the only way nowadays to catch on some attention, plenty of then are pretty talented too.

Another clear issue is that a good part of making high quality or long animations is how time consuming it is so they need to look ways to gain from it things like money or develop a personality to stick.

A good example are the OMM guys, or that guy that does a lot what if DBZ fights, or those sprite animators that still keep popping out recently, there is a lot of people who still enjoys the genre and keep doing good stuff, the problem is how more is about the sparkles or memes for the casual viewer rather than the actual content of the animation.

Yeah it's really quite novel. Brilliant, brilliant use of music. It's missing a few key ingredients to be a true classic, which is why it's mostly been lost to the ether in favor of Randy Solem's work. Because Krinkels isn't a stubborn dumbass like Alvin, he knows how to manage himself. He animates as a hobby and does other stuff on the side whilst still making money off that hobby without forcing it and actually entertaining his fans. He draws furry art because that happens to be his kink but doesn't let it interfere with his other works. That's why he's so based.

Because he fucking knows the fundamentals of fight choreography like the back of his hand. He used each character's fighting capabilities to their fullest, utilized the terrain of a fight every time, gave each fight the back-and-forth of momentum with a constantly changing situation, and knew how to recombine all those puzzle pieces moment-to-moment to vary things up.

The one thing that struck me when I went through the madness series again is how the choreography hasn't changed a bit. The detail of the environments and characters has of course improved, and the set pieces are more spectacular than ever, but the essence of the fight, especially that specific weight and slowness to everyone's moves, is still consistent, in a good way. It's nice to see that even after all these years, the creator still has a solid vision of how to have people beat the shit out of each other

I made a post earlier on it, but I'll expand on my thoughts.

It's solemn like no other Mario flash series out there, and it's worth at least a single watch for how everything meshes together. The 8-bit choreography of fights, the brilliant use of music, the camera work, it's all really well done. The problem is there's no real defining theme. At first glance, you'd call a tragedy. And it is one, everyone fucking dies. But there's nothing to glean from its tragedies. Romeo and Juliet choose death over their families never allowing them to be together. Medea kills her children as revenge for her husband starting a new family. Everyone dies in Mario Brothers because...well that's it. It works in spite of this, and I can't stress enough how much it is worth at least a single viewing, but it would have a far better legacy than the nothing it currently has if it had at least ONE theme.

yeah the ending didn't really do it for me. Peach just falls in and mario just talks to himself. Like it didn't really happen for any reason. It would've been better imo if they went to luigi's grave or something, maybe showed the toads at the end. The toads were more interesting than I would've thought.
All in all, it's still quite good. I really appreciate that they stick with game mechanics and avoid blood and gore. Makes it feel more like the games than other vids do.

Super Mario World was always pretty off-putting compared to other Mario games but that's what made it so great. Some of the music felt eerie and foreboding like the fortress/castles, the ghost houses, Vanilla Dome, the Underground theme, and the sound when putting a key into a keyhole. Then you have some of the off model sprites like the Koopalings and their stick legs, the heavily detailed and large Bowser, and the weird and stilted movements of the Chargin Chucks. Even in the GBA port they had the Koopalings scream as they fell into lava. Mario is at it's best when it portrays its universe as strange instead of safe and cuddly.

I think he most likely got fed up with all the people trying to get him into working in the series again, which honestly sounds like such a waste, a lot of people and even some e-celebs were actually up to help up him with his series, even donating money and what not, but he was never really clear on if he wanted to continue or not after the rebooted EP1.

He was always acting as if he didn't had any interest or was always depressed because of losing his 1000$ worth patreon account, but you could clearly see him just being lazy and talking about the switch game she was playing, you had also other times where he was teasing on with working on the next episode or even bringing up the topic on his own, also I think it is pretty clear he was a bit salty SMBZ got more attention than his furry artwork.

Alvin is the sad story of a damn fool that had all the talent and the support for his work, he new his shit about animating and fight choreography enough to make a fan series with a legacy that last to this day, but he didn't wanted to work on his craft and only wanted the attention, to think he was the inspiraiton for the likes of Monty Oum and some of the DB animators to get where they got, at least we got some poeple like smasherblock or other couple of animators who are willing to take up the series.

Kirby animations were my jam back then. LoneAlchemist and DestructionSeries made great things even if they were short. I loved the OC characters in their work, i think they were named Aege and Saito. One storyline that could have had great potential was the cancelled story of Kirby's abilities being separed into entities of their own. There was the fire kirby, the sword kirby... Would have loved to see what kind of personalities he'd give them

Yes. It's a fucking marvel of ROMhacking. Good level design, TONS of custom assets, special levels that give Mario unique powerups, and the bosses as you said are incredible. And this shit was done before SMW hacking was super mainstream and the tools people use now didn't exist.
Sadly it's technically unfinished, every level but the final one and Special World is made and there's a separate release that has the beta version of the final level, but no complete package.
