I don't know about Atelier games but Moe Chronicle, Freedom Wars, and P4G are pretty good. You can transfer Legend of Dragoon onto it from a ps3, as well.

He played it loads since launch and the battery held a charge of like 3 minutes so it wasn't possible to play off charger. There's a handful of screws, you use a pry tool to pop the face off (though it's still connected to the back so don't pull too hard or you'll rip the connector in half and fuck yourself), then it's just some ribbon cables and connectors you can pop off with your screwdriver if you're feeling dangerous or your pry tool. If you've ever taken apart a modern phone, it's pretty much the same shit. Just go slow, unsnap all the little legos and you're good.

My real worry is what happens when the charger and/or port dies, cause they don't make em anymore, and they were/are proprietary.

The thing with Compile is that Nep is the safest and blandest of their work. Genkai Tokki(what the pic in question is a part of) is the most experimental, fanservice heavy and ridiculous of their games. GalapagosRPG have a better budget and variety in mechanics compared to Nep but are still somewhat safe when it comes to gameplay but get away with more in terms of themes and concepts.
With Compile it's important you research the game thoroughly before buying as the different teams make different games.
