KOF-A 2012 is a must-have. It's 699mb but it's worth it. You can play Doom with mods like HDoom. Or you can just emulate old PS1 & PS2 games on your phone, as long as your phone isn't slow and shitty.

Even then they need their parent's permission because any responsible parent doesn't just leave their fucking card on something their kid can access it, or they get the charge refunded.
Also it's not really "gambling" since your money is gone the moment you buy the in game currency, you can't cash out the second you buy that shit, even if you put 10$ down to gamble for the SSR of your favorite character, if you get her in 3$ you're NEVER getting that 7$ back.
It's even a fucking saying in casinos, DO NOT put down money you're not willing to lose, but in gacha's case it's not coming back regardless of if you get your card or not

I posted this befor, but I will post it again because I do feel these are a good set of games. Most of them are paud, with only a scant few freebies.

Cosmic Challenge was a difficult one to put though. I honestly think it's a rock solid racer, with great speed, tracks, looks and sounds. Even has a good level editor to boot. But it's also neck deep in some awful F2P cruft that would scare most people away. I only paid for an Ad remover and nothing else, but that's mainly because the ads were absurd otherwise. This is a game that would benefit from FAR less monetization.

If it's a port of an existing game that's known to be decent then the mobile version should be passable too.

Final Fantasy Tactics plays pretty well on mobile right now, as do some some other Final Fantasy games (beat 7 through 9 again last year). Only a couple minigames turn to crap on touchscreen but then I usually stream to my tv and play with a controller to get over that. GTA games run well if your phone isn't garbage, but touchscreen controls suck.

From the few I've played, Gacha games seem braindead. Combat is simple and easy with flashy presentation around it. They're somehow both graphically simplistic, yet highly demanding of your phone's resources at the same time. The stories are often throwaway, and the only thing that kind of tickles me is building teams, but not enough to keep going.

I've uniroincally found Kemco games to be more fun an satisfying to play through than the Gachas I've played, and those are rightfully criticized for being bland. Is there something I'm missing about Gacha that makes it more engaging beyond collecting characters?

My first game was actually Phantom of he Kill. I liked it at the time, but it's gone now.
I fiddled around with a few others, Grand Sphere, and few Gacha SHMUPS though those were Korean, FF Brave Exvius, Mobius FF, Monster Super League (Also Korean), and I wanted to try Fire Emblem Heroes, but I was testing the waters with a few games with Gacha systems at the time, and they're uniformly Massive, so I set it aside.

I wasn't taken with that type of game at all, and as a contrast, was immediately charmed by Buriedbornes, which doesn't have that kind of draw system.

The main appeal is collecting characters, like the gachapon machines they're inspired by. Otherwise the repetitiveness caused by the need to pump out content endlessly and the constant powercreeping make them inherently mediocre games, even if the underlying gameplay was good.
