RX 580 is objectively better these days.

I really cant say for the RX but I have a 1060 and it has served me well for 1080 60fps is most games. MHW runs great with volumetric light turned off and everything else maxed out and Rainbow Six Siege can easily hit 144 i just dont have a monitor for it right now. Things like PUBG and Tarkov chug sometimes but I think its more the fault of game optimization at this point

>buying discount gpus with zero real world performance differences
how poor are you kiddo? you can pick up some great gpus on the used market right now, try going for a vega56 or 1070

DON'T BUY A GTX 1060 DON'T BUY A GTX 1060 DON'T BUY A GTX 1060 DON'T BUY A GTX 1060 DON'T BUY A GTX 1060 DON'T BUY A GTX 1060 DON'T BUY A GTX 1060 DON'T BUY A GTX 1060 DON'T BUY A GTX 1060 DON'T BUY A GTX 1060 DON'T BUY A GTX 1060 DON'T BUY A GTX 1060 DON'T BUY A GTX 1060

HEED MY FUCKING WARNING. YOU WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO PLAY GAMES AT AN ENJOYABLE SETTING AND YOU WILL FUCK YOURSELF FOR NEW GAMES

If you're on Linux:

RX580, open source AMD drivers are unironically the best GPU drivers in the world right now

If you're on Windows

Nvidia 1060

What CPU do you have? I'm struggling with I5 4690K.

I got the 580 but they threw in a 2 games with it

None
Grab the 1660 Ti

>struggling with I5 4690K
It's a good cpu.

No clue why I have stuttering in most games with high FPS.

It makes me mad that these old GPU's are still relevant.

The 1660 TI should have buried these two, but the Nvidia Jews priced it at a ridiculous $280 and the non ti version is a piece of shit. Plus we still don't know when the 5600 will drop. What a terrible time for the GPU market.

If you have to buy now, do what this user said and buy a used 1070. They are going for as low as $210 on eBay.

I got a rx580, was cheaper and I got DMCV for free with I honestly don't think the differences are that much.

Unstable frametimes

Also called "framepacing"

Or shader compilation stutter

please be gentle i know i know, it's really not a bad machine

Bad OpenGL driver on Windows

Absolutely great drivers on Linux

Do not buy a 1060. Stop buying McChickens, work some extra hours, or suck some cock, but don't buy a 1060. Don't buy a 2060 either or any 'entry' level AMD equivalent.

rx 580 is worse in DX11 games than the 1060. but rx 580 is better at DX12 and Vulkan

Why the fuck would you buy a x060 instead of an x070?

>Advertises as "New state"
>They actually mined cons for 3 years with it.
Also yeah, I agree on the nvidia jew pricing of the 1660ti.
>580/1060
>Entry level
Can't make this shit up.

Since we're talking about cards, which card is recommended for arma 3 for 1080p60?

I didn't type entry level; I typed 'entry' level. Learn the difference before you reply to me again cock sucker.

>Why the fuck would you buy a x070 instead of an x080? Why the fuck would you buy a x080 instead of an x080ti?
Are you stupid?

both are old and suck now. get at least a 1660 ti now.

That's a perfectly serviceable machine for 1080p60hz high/max settings or 10870p144hz mid-range settings.

both are mostly identical in terms of performance, RX 580 is cheaper but is less power efficient and runs a little hotter
pic related is my setup

Attached: speccy.png (721x616, 84K)

pretty much. my one regret is the dell motherboard that you cant change the bios for at all so my RAM speed is super limited

I chosed rx570 over 1060 for price and temperature and it goes great
go for rx580 or vega 56

Here your gpu amazon.com/ASUS-Overclocked-Auto-extreme-Graphics-STRIX-GTX1660TI-O6G-GAMING/dp/B07NHQ5HNW/ref=sr_1_9?keywords=GTX 1660 ti&qid=1563803790&s=videogames&sr=1-9-catcorr

Do i need upgrade my gpu for 1080p gaming?

>1060/580
heartly kek, did i travel back to 2016?
get a 1660 Ti or a similarly priced Vega 56
imagine buying these junk only to get demolished next year by new consoles

probably not on lower settings, but you wont be getting ultra or high textures with that

> If you're on Linux:

Can confirm, also AMD submitted these drivers for mainline kernel and got rejected so they went back and spent literally a year reworking them. This speaks volumes about their commitment to the platform. I'll gladly pay premium just to support companies that actually play nice with existing ecosystem instead of going the snowflake (nvidia) road.

1060 only if 6gb.
3gb should have been the 1050 ti

Do they even sell 1060 still? It's been replaced by 2 cards already. Its a dumb buy either way since both cards are old as shit by know.

Oh, a gaming PC thread.
Want to upgrade from a AMD FX6300. Which modern processor is emulation-friendly?

OP you need to tell us you desired resolution/framerate

Also if you have any favourite multiplayer games, you can look up that game's performance for each card.

Looks like the cards trade blows, but the 1060 6gb might end up slightly better.

If you have a 1080p144hz monitor and don't feel entitled to Ultra settings, I can speak from first-hand experience that the 1060 6GB can spit out the frames you need.

intel cpu's have the tsx instruction set, which rpcs3 needs to not run like shit
but their current lineup is a joke right now, so go with one of the new ryzens

I have thoughts to buy 1660 ti...
