Actually, with the way calamities work, he kind of did.
He just didn't destroy The Source. But some other world was forcefully rejoined back into it with his coming, and a good chunk of the source got fucked as well.

So Bahamut ended up being a force that destroyed about 1.2 worlds.

Not all classes have that complex of rotations, and honestly playing the game through will get you pretty used to your class since abilities will get layered on slowly over time. I'd recommend Dragoon for starting out, then probably getting into Red Mage once you can unlock it. Avoid Ninja definitely though.

Most of the blizzard cash shop stuff fits so well in certain areas that it's obvious it was pulled from the game to be put on the cash shop. Fae dragons have an unused how to train your dragon area, magical mount on the cash shop at the same time as there's a magical legendary ring quest, meanwhile the raid and achievement mounts are boring garbage shoved in to fill the gap.

Yes, FFXIV players actually need things like ACT and FFLOGS because the classes are actually somewhat complex.
