Yokai watch 1 getting a remake on nintendo switch

Jesus CHRIST they're still milking this series?

Literally why? 1 is completely irrelevant and the later games improved on it drastically. If it had 1, 2, and 3 all combined in one pack, then it'd be worth it, but just 1? What's the point?

What's Yokai Watch

Never heard of it

Yeah as much as I love the series, the first one just got improved upon so much in the sequels.

Didn't 4 JUST come out in japan? Rapidfire releases is why the series declined over there

Digimon game philosphy*

Unless they fix all the grinding and friendship issues and add a bunch of new content I'm not sure I understand the need for it.

Doing all that work for something that won’t break even or sell over a million

So basically watered down Persona

>Porting assets over is hard
This is Level-5, not Game Freak.
I doubt more than five of you know that the original Yo-kai Watch was also ported to mobile.

How big is this franchise anyway?
But hardly any negotiations
Yo-Kai are fucking stingy, man.

Ok then

Should I just get the 3DS games?

I have 3dscia.com and a hacked New 2DS XL on a moment's notice

Clunky/odd things in YKW1 that got changed/fixed in sequels:
>You can't skip dialogue faster with the B button, and the dialogue box needs to finish before you can skip it
>The Yokai Lens takes a million years to fully lock onto a target
>Unable to see what a Yokai's favorite food is or whether you've befriended them or not
>You can't use the Target Pin prior to battle
>In YKW2 and 3, the music playing prior to battle will loop the first part endlessly, and the full track will only play if you go into battle; This is not the case in YKW1
>You can't pedal faster on your bike, pressing the sprint button only makes you ring the bell
>There's no zoom out on the map, nor are there names of locations and areas of interest
>You are only permitted three cranks from the Crank-a-Kai a day
>There's no comfy train rides, and it automatically takes you from Springdale Central to Sunshine Station, which is the only place the train takes you to and fro
>Mirapo only gives you the location name and a vague idea of where that might be on the full map, and only in YKW3 was this changed to being able to see the location of where the Mirapo would transport you to
>You can't change what Yokai you wish to be accompanying you
>There's only a single portrait for every character that has them, whereas the sequels added multiple facial expressions, and in 3, added voice clips (Whether you like them or not)
>There's honestly not a whole lot to do in the post-game, outside of the Infinite Inferno and filling out the Medallium
>The Menu only has six options, making you go into Info for your Medallium and Yo-kai Spots info
>The fishing minigame used to be the exact same as bug catching
>Odd equippable items (Tags that raise one specific elemental defense/lowers regular defense, rings that do the same for attack, the tags/rings/gemstones you use for fusing those items)
>Incredibly minor detail; Mr. Zen's fusion has a bubble above him that says SHOP, while in YKW2, it says Fusion!

Poorman’s Pokémon

dont bother with 1. 2 and 3 are good though

Start with the second one
the first has it's problems and is plain compared to the rest.
Haven't gotten to the third entry yet, but hear it changes it's battle system.
Try it to see if you like it first.

Demake considering 2nd screen is what made the gameplay interesting.

>Re-releasing the game that got immediately retconned within the first 10 minutes of 2
Like Mega Man, Yo-kai Watch starts at 2.

I need more yokai pics

Probably to add a bunch of the tweaks 2 had. This could potentially be pretty great if this is the series' FireRed/LeafGreen.

>yw4 was released a couple of weeks ago
>already announced a port

they're so desperate that is funny

If it's basically just a upgraded port of the 3DS version, then who cares?

If it's an actual full remake, like using 4s engine then I would be interested.

This is poor bait./

>Yo-kai Watch still living rent free in the minds of Pokedicks
Shouldn't you be damage controlling about how Game Freak totally had to remake all the models from scratch because they were too incompetent to port them over?

Who cares
Wibble Wobble when

Not really "watered down" just "kid friendly". I would say that there's more mechanics to learn in Yokai Watch 3 than in the entirety of Persona 3-5.

So hows the anime? Is it worth watching?

Arguably better than the actual games imo. It's a SoL with the Yo-kai themselves acting as the continuity between episodes. Every Yo-kai that gets befriended is almost guaranteed to appear in a later episode to solve a specific problem. Think of it like Doraemon with some slight Ghostbuster elements to it.

whisper is the most useless fucking character ever.

Because Level 5 smells blood in the water regarding monster collectathons on Nintendo platforms.

I wonder if this means that they'll eventually port 2 and 3 to Switch. I'm playing 3 right now and I'm fucking amazed at how many fucking things they throw at you to do. Blasters dungeons, a dancing game, the shitty raft minigame, the bike races, the zombie night, the food eating minigame, etc

the framerate is garbage in 3, so I hope so
