Can we admit this feature fucking sucked? You either have to go collect all your weapons and armor again, or just restart your save. Even if you do that, you still have to drive all the way to the mission start, and then probably drive some more or do a trip skip to the objective. It makes playing through this game so fucking tedious. Often when I die in a mission I stop playing for awhile just because restarting is such a hassle. People might say its casual but the "start from phone" feature of GTA IV was a godsend. Losing all your weapons and having to drive back to the mission start fucking sucks

The sweet spot is definitely the VCS(?) version where you can buy back all of the lost weapons and restart missions immediately if you die

My thoughts too. I'm surprised more people didn't like Trevor, yes he's lolrandumb and doesn't have a lot of depth as a character but he fits GTA very well. It's a game series where you might watch a cutscene that has the characters talking about humanity and morals and some philosophical bullshit and then immediately after the cutscene is over you can walk outside and indiscriminately mow down total strangers. Trevor is the only GTA protag with a personality that actually fits this. Franklin's just tryin' to live his life, poor guy.
