Dark Cloud will always have a special place in my heart. It's dungeon exploration, along with the dungeon exploration in Mabinogi, was something that blew my mind when I was young. I thought the town building aspect of Dark Cloud was based af as well. The game is pic is kino.
That game looks like it would've been a lot of fun as a kid
Yup, this is literally the first game developed for the PS2.
Is this the one that's like a trading card game?
sequel is better in my opinion. I know that it took away a few things that made the townbuilding aspect interesting and all (as well as made it bit more easier), the sequel though just adds so much more to the game and refines alot of stuff that made the first to god awfully hideous
I'm a huge ass fan when it comes to the weapon buildup systems in both games, but unlike the 2 where its so simple and easy to transform your weapons, in the first you had to worry about meeting prerequisites on so many stats and having the right shit to put into those stats, making sure every weapon level up counted as the more levels a weapon got the more grinding you had to do for the next level. shit was fucking AWFUL
dark cloud 2 is my favorite game. so much so that I dont enjoy the first one anymore because managing 6 characters is asking a little too much of me.
I liked the idea of a RPG+city builder but good god, DC is so fucking underwhelming
play it with max fishing point cheats so you get access to gems. Makes the grind for each character's weapons more bearable and actually fun
DC was my first ps2 game.
Could never get past the first boss, the flying dog thing. I remember fighting that thing for hours barely chipping away the HP. What’s worse is that I even had the strategy guide, at least I could read what I was missing out on. Maxed out the first town tho.
Observe THE first PS2 game. Check the spine; see that code "50001"? The 1 stands for 1st.
Is it wrong I use the broken dagger exploit to make weapon building and money managing piss easy? It's the way I've found to enjoy the original. I think the 2nd one is better overall.
inferior Zelda wannabe but still fresh and inventive, unlike most "spiritual successor" games from this generation
Ape escape 2&3 and steambot chronicles for Maximum comfy
Never knew there was more to the game then that first village, didn't get any further because it was so boring
>inferior zelda wannabe
>literally no likeness to zelda besides green hat fairy boy
>forms his opinions from whag he sees on Yea Forums and not actually playing video games
Try fucking harder next time
Probably the first time the concept of death really weighed on me was when I was playing DC1 with my dad. While looking at the names on the load screen, I had the sudden realization that some day my father would be gone, but his save game DAD-E-O would still be there.
Anyways when the fuck are we getting 3?
Don't forget that you also had to be careful not to break your weapons.
The menu music remains instant hype to this day.

Loved everything about DC1 except for the hassle of trying to get stat boosting stones. Fishing was a miserable experience and the chances of finding the right one in a chest was extremely low. Having to manage six characters was a pain in the ass.
Always ended up losing patience around when you get the fourth character and doing the store glitch for the broken sword item that would max out any weapons stats immediately.
it was, it's also a pretty bad game objectively, but I still have extreme nostalgia for it.
I counter your theme with mines
