i loved running through the streets at night

Mario Odyssey

sucks that they reduced the parcour mechanics in the newest entries

Attached: assassins-creed-ii-cover.jpg (271x377, 28K)

>Any Genesis era Sonic game
>Any 3D Mario
>Tony Hawks

that's all I can actually think of

Octodad

>Sonic
>bump into enemies every 2 meters.

JSRF

>reduced the parcour mechanics
what? you could get over 90% of obstacles by holding two buttons and a direction on the left stick, how the fuck could it get more basic?

Sunset overdrive

GTAV and RDR2

That's why you have the ability to roll into them

Gravity Rush on the Playstation Vita and nowhere else. Sequel is terrible, same as every franchise that went from Vita to PS4 like Persona and Danganronpa. 5 and V3 sucked ass.

They added the spiderverse suit to the game?

The inFamous games, especially Second Son

In the last DLC pack it was included

still remember that cool ass train sound once you start accelerating on a high voltage cable. man those games had some cool shit - where the fuck is my Infamous 3?

thats exactly the point.

Gravity Rush

What is this floaty garbage?

please elaborate, I was genuinely asking because I stopped giving a shit about this series after brotherhood

Gravity Rush

Fallout: New Vegas

Aw shit. Is there a punished spider version with sweatpants and/or gut?

RDR2, walking through the game is far better than running. There are tons of tiny details and sp many random events

They got rid of basically any effort needed to find a way up.
Now you can just scale pretty much any surface

how? its the same as it has been with all bethesda games since Morrowind.

I get why you’d like GR1 over 2 in general, but just fucking around with the gravity mechanic is as fun as ever

The parkouring turned into shit untill Unity, i had fun roaming in that one.
Generally speaking i liked Unity way more than 3,4 and rogue, the emphasis on stealth was good, and the city was a wonder. Shame for the multiplayer shit and the mtx

this game was too focused on being Arkham City. the driving is just fluff.

A game for 6 year olds in the 90s is now a pleb filter for 20 year old zoomers

Super Metroid, once you get the hang of it.
I've yet to find a game with more enjoyable walljumping.

Attached: walljumping.webm (640x560, 2.49M)

Took this thread long enough. Just Cause has the best traversal of any video game.

that fanmade Attack on Titan game. never got any friends to play it with me. :(

Attached: fdasfdaf.jpg (1280x720, 145K)

The driving is great but ill grant that the combat is half baked

This game has probably the coolest movement mechanic i've ever played in a videogame, and it's a TPS on top of that

Attached: vanquish.jpg (1280x720, 141K)

that's the most retarded shit I've ever heard, in the first few games you barely had to try to find a way up a building already, unless you had a room temperature IQ it was very obvious what you could and couldn't climb
I know AC isn't exactly known for catering to geniuses but fuck, what are these retards doing

Attached: 1559897765923.webm (1280x720, 2.86M)

>Second Son
Want to replay it, but fuck that unskippable cutscenes bullshit.

The Arkham series. Even the worst games had fun traversal

As long as you don't fall for the unremovable flight upgrade that completely trivializes all travel.
>face GPS blip
>take running super jump
>arrive at destination
If you limit yourself to airdashing, yeah, it's pretty fun. I had a good time getting around the city in Mega Man X mode.

What game?

>nobody listed Prototype
The fuck is wrong with you people?

Games that were designed to have no learning curve in movement do not have fun traversal. If you want simple, take notes on Super Mario. Don't put the skill ceiling 1 inch above the beginning player's head.

Attached: 1537839376335.jpg (674x1025, 323K)

It was mediocre

Attached: 1537176985016m.jpg (1024x576, 70K)

Eh
Its on the same tier as infamous and saints row 4, both of which were mentioned

I came into this thread to post it. Wall running, gliding, super jumps, Hammer Toss, running with the armor form on, hijacking tanks and choppers. So good that Saints Row 4 stole it.

Crackdown did it too
Really a lot of games did

LIERO
I
E
R
O

How is that less fun? The parkour was fucking awful in the first AC games. It was slow, clunky and automated. At least now it's a little bit faster.

The car on car combat was K I N O in Mad Max. Made the filler melee sections worth it

based

The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction did most of this shit years before either of them.

red faction guerrilla in a vehicle

GTA4 and RDR1. Euphoria physics made it a ton of fun just dicking around with.

how's the movement in ace combat 7? I really love skillful movement in games. I like spider-man and gravity rush but they're pretty simple and i'd like something more involved.

never played it. Maybe I'll give it a shot.

Although, IV stands out to me very much for specific reasons. I'm going to have to try to like this one.

Hell yes, I really long for more games with parkour elements.

This

Ace Combat is about dog fights. Not movement in itself. So yeah they're fairly easy and accessible in order to make the hectic mission scenarios coherent.

It's more or less the same but more refined.
The map is not as pretty because it's hard to top caribbean sea, but the tight canals and icebergs are way more fun to slalom trough, and the combat requires you to be aware of your surrounding.
Enemy ship AI is smarter
Legendary fights are more structured
The game as a whole is meh since the plot lasts for 6 hours and gets you a 12% completion, the entirety of the content is running around and collecting shit to unlock end game gear after you finished the game. But the ship parts are good.

Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix with maxed out Growth abilities

This.

Who else hype for the sequel?

Is it confirmed?

Spiderman 2
nothing even comes close

Yeah apparently it’s confirmed for next gen consoles and a 2020 release. I hope they polish the traversal though a little bit and maybe strengthen the vehicle driving mechanics.

Just roll around tagging, grinding, and listening to some dope ass beats

jetsetradio.live/

I enjoyed AC2 but the open world and parkour honestly got tiring after a while because it was just the same shit over and over and over again. I couldn't even bother playing any of the sequels.

Environmental Station Alpha traversal is pretty fun the grapple hook being the most fun and unlocked early too.
>Double jump
>Grapple hook that carries momentum
>Dash up, down, left or right

Seriously the grapple hook is fun as fuck.
>Jump off high ledge and fall for a bit
>Grapple onto something
>Let go of grapple tat the right time and you go flying way up high again allowing you to reach secrets (of which there are countless)
Game is very sequence breakable.

Attached: ESA.jpg (460x215, 36K)

Those car fight were amazing though. Especially taking out the convoys. Watching them explode into a fire ball flying above you and lifeless bodies disappear into the sandstorm was all I needed to love this game. Sure everything else was just okay, but that car combat was excellent

you mean you didnt bother
Or you couldnt be bothered

My nigga
Still think that they should try implementing the parkour into a new IP

>boost into enemy
>meele attack him
>you are now out of boost, fuck you
the game had potential but it was wasted with some stupid decisions

Going from Arkham City where you could just sort of float over the small district to Knight where you could jet around the whole city was a stark change

Skyrim, while you are fresh. Then it becomes relaxing /annoying depending on your level and the amount of mobs that break the ambience.

I actually liked how meaty the melee felt.

this movement looks really bad. but it's anime, what do you expect.

Spiderman PS4 comes more than close. Get with the times boomer

I don't see how the traversal was fun. It looks COOL but you're just holding space bar and spamming F. Play a real game like

no way fag

the intermediate and hard swinging trials in Spiderman 2 are a marvel to behold
nu-spiderman is way too automated and lacks the nuanced control of 2

I thought it was a refreshing change for movement in a sidescroller

Attached: .org.chromium.Chromium.jpg (183x275, 6K)

Was not expecting to see Liero get posted.

Attached: 1556877115306.png (700x992, 86K)

Ya maybe no. The setting and legendary pirates really made it for me. Those are huge sellers for me.

Not just that... I really hate the series, and to have a main character feel the same way about the assassins that I do about the franchise went really far with me. It was a pirate game first and an assassin game second.

the pirate fights, while awesome, were my third concern.

I'm in "wait and see" mode. They keep talking about the human focus in 2. I'm not sure I want that.

no one mentioned botw??

youtube.com/watch?v=4AWRR92W5gg&t=

Attached: tunnel run.webm (640x360, 2.92M)

fair enough. BotW is super comfy (especially post game)... but we're really talking about traveling... not just dicking around. If that makes sense.

>proof: one designer on old game plays new game and likes it

not an argument
I've put hundreds of hours into 2 trying to do all of the trials and maybe 40 into the new one for 100%

The movements ok in botw. Shield surfing is fun as fuck though

I wonder if you can beat the closing doors with a maxed out MiG-31

Mirror's Edge

Take the nostalgia glasses off. It was excellent for its time. But that time has passed and the new one is better in just about every way

Too bad the second one fell for the open world trope. It felt great at first, but then you realized it was just random stuff dropped in convenient places rather than a planned out designed path to take.

you must love 90% of shitty beat em ups and gta clones

Not to mention how they completely removed momentum and inertia mechanics so parkour became literally pointless

Attached: ME vs MEC AI.webm (960x540, 2.9M)

>you must like certain types of games
>your opinion bad

Thats what you sound like faggot.

Yes someone did

GRAVITY RUSH

>falling in any direction
>skating around like tony hawk as the speed of sound
>doing the moon jump

Attached: 1516219998332.jpg (600x503, 244K)

They added a sheild if you kept running! Thats just as good right?

>Not to mention how they completely removed momentum and inertia mechanics so parkour became literally pointless
No they didn't, they turned the side jump trick from the first game that everyone and their mom used into an actual game mechanic.

im not saying its bad
you just like bad games
and thats fine

Just because an old game has janky controls that make it harder doesnt make it more complex, just shittier.

Have you considered that's because the new one just has better controls? Harder doesn't always mean better, the old one just had clunkier controls. Still amazing for its time, but the new one is an evolution in every conceivable way.

Im not that user. You just sound like a prick

>they turned an engine glitch that broke the game and got banned in speedruns into a FEATURE
gotta clap for that, gotta clap for that

better than 90% of this thread

that's not all, you can accelerate to full sprint in a second, you don't lose any speed if you turn sharply, and you can spam the go-fast-now button to go literally faster than your top running speed

If ME1 was Sonic 1&2, Catalyst is Sonic 06

Terraria, grappling hook and Hermes boots.

Just watch some gameplay videos on youtube. It's somewhat like the all range ode in the Starfox games.

Attached: A Demon Lord.webm (640x348, 2.68M)

Please elaborate

AC7 has a new feature called post-stall maneuvers where you can manually do kulbits and cobras, basically jet drifting. It's difficult to pull off but immensely satisfying when you do
You also have to battle the elements, like turbulence, lightning, and cloud icing

Attached: 1551625338292.webm (1024x576, 2.94M)

I got back into this game recently. Why did this game have so much soul?

Attached: incredible-hulk-ultimate-destruction.398602.jpg (526x399, 206K)

not him but i do like walking through the mojave and listening to my radio
Or riding whatever modded mount and doing the same
No jogging though, thats just uncivil

I need for all white boys with bad taste to leave Yea Forums immediatly.

No mention of Mega Man X, Zero or ZX? Well here it is.

I heard they really didn't want to do inFamous anymore and that's why they half-assed Second Son. Tsushima is something they wanted to move on to, for better or worse.

>limited amount of stamina for platforming
Fuck that shit.

Why would they? It has nothing to do with the topic at hand.

Fuck air dashes were great. I'm glad they're coming back with Copen too. GV's add-ons weren't the same.

Never played infamous so i wouldn't know but im looking forward to GoT

This game had right to be this good.

InFamous 2’s movement was pornographic.

Bionic Commando for the NES.

Also, Warframe is a rare MMO example.

Jet Set Radio and Future have the floatiest controls ever.

Which one, because there are exceptions even in the platformers

Which is why most have spikes of some kind or in even worse cases, bouncers.

>not timing your jumps with X to go faster
>not zipping to points with L2+R2 and pressing jump as you land to get a huge burst of speed
>not doing tricks in the air for bonus points
>not running off walls
You're a shit spidermam user

>saints row 4

I'm going to have to revisit that game considering I only dropped it due to how hard it finally managed to jump the shark.

just fuck off then
