No, I'm pretty sure you get your first investigation and third big monster relatively fast in 4U to make up for some of the slog.
GU is asking me to repeat the exact same delivery quests I've done for one star in two stars.

Still doesn't make the fact that 4U also still suffers from it. Maybe a bit more streamline and slightly less as long but it still has the gathering and kill 10 mooks quest plaguing your time on HR1 and them being manditory to move on from that rank.

You know most of those quests aren't required, right? Just look up the key quests and do those.

I skipped XX, but going back it's pretty fun even after world. I sorta miss a lot of the busy work and jank so it's a neat little return to that.

Honestly, I don't like the way world handled it either. The typical monhun formula was:
>small monsters
>great jaggi/drome monster
>slightly larger monster like kutku or ludroth
>progressively larger and more varied monsters until HR
>HR you get the same progression

But with worth you skip a lot of that shit and it makes the game seem more shallow to me. Like I enjoyed building up great jaggi armor and tetsucabra stuff until I could make rathalos stuff to lead into high rank, and then repeating it against progressively stronger monsters in HR, but with world after low rank you have everything available. Right away I started farming diablos and black diablos to get my set and basically was set until I did behemoth. I don't even know what half the shitty armors in world do because I didn't even fight those monsters in the progression, I only went back and killed the filler stuff after I already had my armor, and that was basically to either get a quest completion for that particular hunt or just to farm crowns. Hell I can't even tell you off the top of my head what the flash bird dino is called in world, or the paralysis odogaron because they're just that forgettable and show up in extremely awkward spots in the story.

But those are actual fights, not FUCKING GATHERING

I love GU but even I can’t defend the pointless shit that is gathering quests. Though to be fair gathering quests were ok when it was just only there to provide an excuse to explore new locale. All the visual changes are cool, and the new attack where he shoots a fireball while jumping backwards is interesting, but I think he's a little gimped compared to his GU version. It seems like they saw the staggered tail slam, and didn't see that as something to fuck with the player's timing, and instead saw that as just a stronger tail slam. GU Glavenus fucks with you hard and tests your ability to react to weird timing, not solely just predicting what the monster will do

There are many ups and downs. While I like the most out of it and many changes are understandable, changes done to post-game content were atrocious.
Gemstone and kulve farming for example were some of the worst things I have ever seen, and this community being entitled and trying to copy streamer/speedrun builds didn't help.

Listfag was a guy who would post a long list of his personal gripes with World that were completely his own opinion and try to pass it off as if it was some sort of fact or a slight against World.

Mostly the lack of content, heavily padded endgame as a result of lack of content, and the whole game being relatively easy and very hand-holdy compared to earlier entries. Then there's other things like the really lackluster weapon designs, awful distribution of elements(jyuratodus might STILL be the only water monster in IB) favoring fire and dragon above all else, and having an overly large hub that's just not very comfy.

AL was either directly ported from Witcher or uses a default humanoid skeleton, it probably didn't take a lot of time to make. Recording monhun language dialogue for Geralt probably took more effort

If you care about lore. A lot of context on the world is given through dialogue.

I think everyone is downplaying just how much monster AI changed. Even World still uses AI very similar to Tri's, just with the occasional "totally not just a choppy animation" territory fights. Even the approach to making monsters seemed to change, though that is somewhat to be expected.

I don't really get the point of listing changes, though. World and GU would have massive change lists, but what is being changed is way more relevant than how many things were.

My wife and I have been playing through MHW and we both got stuck at Nergigante.

Like most of the titles, G rank is where the game actually picks up. In the case of a game with overtuned hunter arts, end-game silliness becomes where the game is "dangerous". I find the balance of FU->3U far more compelling. When you start getting into end game monsters that you always bounce unless stones are active or monsters which are essentially total freakout cunts immune to a million things and flying the game has jumped the shark. Fights like Tri's Alat without sleepbombing or SSJ2 Rajang are that sweet spot for me.

Nerg is the best example of the best defense being a good offense. He rewards aggressiveness. Pick a body part and keep hitting it. The spikes come out and you want to break them. Don't hit any other body parts in the meantime. That's a mistake. Once you break the spikes, he trips and you can beat the shit out of him. So pick another body part when he trips and get started on the same process so that when he gets back up, you can trip him again pretty soon.
When done properly, Nerg spends most of the fight on the ground flopping around.

Most of the important games are playable with a regular controller even without emulation.

Monster Hunter World is literally just Lost Planet 4 with a MonHun crossover skin and Iceborne simply confirms it.
