It has only one campaign so far, but I'd say it's better in almost every aspect.

Yes

Pathologic 1 had superior music, but that's pretty much it.

>tfw bachelor route never

I was the under the impression that this was a remake of the first game, rather than an entirely new game.

Yeah, but as others point out it's incomplete, only a first campaign of the the three that were in the original.

It has some other issues. but the amount of shit it improves over the first one is massive. It is, for the most part, a large evolution on the concept that significantly expands on the concepts outlined in the first game. It simply put has a lot more depth to it. Not to mention that it polished and/or ironed a lot of unpleasantness of the original.

It's a fantastic little thing, to be honest. Just shame about the performance. It's kinda bad, the optimization sucks and quite some people had troubles running it on a reasonable framerate.

It's a remake. The decision to call it Pathologic 2 is retarded and caused a lot of confusion

It's little more than a remake. Mechanically it is on a fairly different level. And a lot of the elements of the story were changed around as well. You could consider it a whole new game, based on the story and premises of the first one.

>no tinctures
>no antibiotics
>no panacea
>also you need to leave some children to die in order to save your bound
Bachelor play-through will be nightmare.

If by nightmare, you mean something that will happen in your head, but not in real world, I'm afraid you might be right.

Is the original still worth playing or is it made obsolete by 2?

After pathologic 2 Is finished and all the campaigns are out, what will ipl do next?
Ideally I would hope they would do another game more in the vain of the void but I do think they'll have the budget for that.
Maybe another smaller game like knock knock

It's worth playing to know the story from different perspective. Play the first one from bachelor's perspective, play pathologic 2 from Haruspex perspective.

*dont
I DONT think they'll have the budget

The fact that it is complete is pretty much the only reason why would you want to play the original. Some argue the music was better - I don't agree for the most part - and a handful of the storylines were arguably a bit better, but most of it was improved in P2.
The sheer amount of mechanical bullshit, as well as the general lack of mechanical depth you'll gave to deal with in Pathologic 1 makes it pretty much obsolete.
But again: P2 is only one third of the entire narrative. For now.

>After pathologic 2 Is finished and all the campaigns are out, what will ipl do next?
Someone claimed they said that this was a harsh lesson and that they will go back to making small games in the vein of Knock-Knock, because Pathologic-size production is just not viable for them.
I honestly doubt we'll even see the other two storylines.

Is there an ETA on when it'll be done?

>implying that p1 is complete
Clara's route was far from complete and IPL admitted that.

No, frankly, we are unsure if it is going to be ever completed. Though it is worth mentioning that it's not like the story ends up on a cliffhanger.
In Pathologic 1, game game consisted of three different stories happening simultaneously. You'd be following three different characters and experiencing the story from their point of view. But each ends up with the plot of the story concluding.
So it's not like say, Sin Episodes or HL2. It is a fully contained story with proper conclusion. It's just that the original offered two other takes on the same story, each somewhat unique.

Will I enjoy Pathologic HD as a videogame and not
>2deep4u social experiment
way if I love playing RPGs just to read the dialogs and learn about the world?

You are probably too casual for pathologic1. Pathologic 2 on the other hand is pretty competent game, although it's hard.

both pathologic games aren't fun, they are engaging at best

>both pathologic games aren't fun
Zoom zoom

But I love both of them
They just aren't fun at all

Depends what is your idea of fun. It's rewarding if you figure out mechanics and don't suck so much anymore.

>having fun from getting raped in the ass over and over
Look actor, I don't question your kinks or anything but not everyone might see things as you do.

Also, sure it's not fun in a sense that fortnight is fun. It's not mindless game that makes you relax. It is stressful and stimulating. In a bit different but similar kind of way that horror games are fun to play.

Pathologic is the exact opposite of fun you braindead troglodyte. Doesn't mean it's not an amazing game.

If you play it like a metagamer/completionist you're going to have a bad time. It's hardly even 1deep3u despite the surrealness, just take the tips as actual fact rather than tips. You'll starve at an unreasonably fast rate. You won't have enough time to do everything. The plague WILL kill you and quickly if you get infected.

There's a lot of really fascinating lore to dig up and the story itself is amazing but you won't be offered a comfy environment to take it all in at your own pace. Well, not unless you don't care about watching everything burn around you while you do.

It's basically just a game about doing what you can in a very, very bad situation.

What's the context of that image?

Nikolay had to sell one of his steppe brides in an auction because of the immense debt he had from illegal underground gambling.

I have done 0 research on it but if I had to guess I think it's just nikolay doing some promotion for the void.
The painting in the back is reminiscent of that games style and theres a naked chick behind nikolay, the void is full of naked girls

Think he's just giving a dev interview, I'm pretty sure that's one of the videos in the Void bonus disc. Would be easier to tell if I knew any more Russian than pic related.

>No, frankly, we are unsure if it is going to be ever completed.
why do you people say this? what reasons do you have?

These games are not financially successful

>After pathologic 2 Is finished and all the campaigns are out
A-user, I...

doesn't sound like it has stopped them from making these games in general

The ambient music while going around the town was far more memorable in classic, but the music that plays during specific scenes (the intro, accepting your inheritance, finding the living blood) was kino as fuck. Some tracks like the ones that play in the Crucible, Broken Heart or the workshop are fucking great as well.

It almost has multiple times, they barely managed to get P2 out in the shape it was. This was supposed to be their big break, hence the publisher deal and the actual advertisement (not that it amounted to much) but from the looks of it, the only thing to break was their hearts.

They barely had enough money to finish haruspex in the first place, and the game didn't sell too well.

user, the devs outright say in the description for the difficulty sliders the game is suppose to be almost unbearable, it's not meant to be fun in the traditional sense. Plus imo something being enjoyable/engaging and something being fun are two different things.

>The ambient music while going around the town was far more memorable in classic
They are good but the main reason you remember them is the fact that they are only 3 variations of the same track per district. While the new OST is fucking huge.
>hence the publisher deal
that was not the reason of the publishing deal.

It's a remake by a design. Plotwise, it's definitely a sequel.

so you know this game has done badly?

It's both?

They have made 5 games and pretty much all of then except maybe knock knock and MAYBE the original pathologic, they have all done poorly financially

>why do you people say this? what reasons do you have?
Well, the lead writer of the project has left the studio, that is for starters. Alpyna recently announced on Twitter that she is going her own way.
The game sold like absolute dogshit due to horrible reviews, and the studio has not made a single official statement. Some Ruskies mentioned them talking about the studio concluding that with their risky attitude, projects of this scope are just no longer viable on this market, though I did not get a confirmation of that - yet, at least. But there is absolutely no reason to have high hopes. Path2 sold in the first two weeks less than HD had in the same time: that is not a good sign. There have not been any patches since the initial couple, and they ceased to be active on community forums.
Shit looks bleak.

We can only hope that either the two other storylines are so far developed that at this point the investment isn't going to be grave and no additional writing will be necessary, or that a miracle happens like the console port (which we also stopped hearing about) comes out and saves the game, or that Mandalore will magically get his health back and summon enough enthusiasm to re-inject life into the studio.

But at this point, it looks bleak as fuck. The studio did not even have money to produce the physical goods for high tier rewards on Kickstarter when P2 was released. That is how little money they had. And the game sold sadly very, very poorly.

Not him but took a quick glance at the all time peak on steam charts and it is 1,418

this is useless info

more substantive. thanks, user.

>so you know this game has done badly?
No, but steam sales are available and gives us a fairly good idea of how well it sold.

>the lead writer
the fuck are you on about she is not the lead writer.

>tfw if it wasn't for the economic crisis in Russia we would have gotten all 3 characters at launch
Wasnt this game really popular in Russia? Did it not sell well?

Actually, the only one that did really poorly was CARGO! and Pathologic 2. Pathologic 1 was a run-away hit for it's format, The Void struggled, but eventually made pretty good profit. Knock-Knock was their biggest hit ever, somehow.

The only real financial trouble for them was Cargo! and that nearly killed the studio. They got a lucky break with Kickstarter (as troubled as that turned out to be).

Actually, she was. Dybowsky was designer and over-seer, absolute majority of the text was written by Alpyna herself.

I don't think it made particular waves this time.

Surely most of it was already written.

It surpasses it in almost every way with the exception of music which is down to your own personal taste.

why? is this is a misogyny thing with you?

the games are explicitly not supposed to be fun you moron, the whole design philosophy centers around the idea of an interactive experience that isn't gratifying or conventionally entertaining.

>The game sold like absolute dogshit due to horrible reviews,
>that rps fag bitching for easy mode
>even when he got it the 2nd article he made he bitched about how he got fucked for taking the deal before like a tard

who are you quoting?

Not this guy but weird I vividly remember that Dybowski writing the bulk of the script. Might be my dumbass though.

RPS went to the dogs as soon as it was sold and Gillen and Rossingol left.

>game bombed
>we will probably never see the other character's routes
>we will probably never see another game from IPL
If god exists then why does this shit happen? checkm8 christians

Ancient definition of god doesn't fit modern society that interprets ancient stories literally. God for ancient people was in a sense life itself. If you don't live your life according to life's rules, you turn your life into hell. That concept isn't so hard to understand. Also consider that world you live in is much more merciful then the world without modern medicine, information network, electricity or running water.

The tard from RPG that wrote two separate reviews of Pathologic 2 and fucked up insanely on each one of them, I guess.

Rock paper shotgun review and follow up article. He's the guy who called it the "dark souls of survival games" or something to that effect.

What? I'm wondering if it's mostly written already before she left, enough they could finish it themselves without her or what.

Did she really?
Because a fujo smut writer from the first game writing the second one is hilarious
Also it would be strange for someone who hates meta to write the meta scenes
