I think something most of us can agree on is that 2000-2005 are honorary late 20th century (1975-1999) years. That's part of why I think 1999 is the last year you can still claim to be a boomer, since you probably got to remember 2003-2005 (maybe 2001-2005 if you have a really good memory). The late 90s are both an interesting time to be born, and a tragic time to be born, since you know that things can be better than they are now, having lived through better times, but you didn't get to spend enough time in it to really savor it.

It really caught on because the first wave of edgy teens who settled on Yea Forums are coming into their 30s around now. The boomer meme is a way for them to, with a defensive irony, come to terms with their age catching up to them. Childhood is over for us___.

Being born in the second half of the 90's makes things ambiguous. You could be born in 95 but love Fortnite, Lil Pump and 2000s cartoons, or you could be born in 99 and love the boomer stuff you mentioned.

I was born in the late 90s and don't remember 2000 or 2001, so going back to play games like Sonic Adventure 2 or Banjo-Tooie is a depressing feeling. It's like knowing there were great things made for people older than you, and you missed out.
Even your brother missed out. I was born in '89, Eastern Europe. When the wall came down we got the NES sold to us for cheap by Western guys and to us it was the newest shit. Same with the SNES shortly afterwards. First console I got new was an N64, sold it towards the end of its lifecycle and bought a PS1 with all the essential titles for cheap in preparation for PS2.

Zoomers don't exist. Generation Z doesn't exist. Millennials don't exist either. Pew Research Center and other think tanks are lying to you. The whole stuff about generations is completely arbitrary. I used to be into defining generations until today, when I read someone in this very thread who was born in 2000 talk about growing up with boomer stuff. I then realized that it's unfair to group people together based on time periods with arbitrary parameters. It's a lot more viable to group people together by personality traits and tastes. Now, a lot of people born in the 21st century, AKA "Zoomers" have shit taste, but that's not entirely their fault. A lot of that has to do with the fact that shit is all they've ever known. But at the end of the day, the judge of your character is not your year of birth, but your personality.
