Is anyone still playing this game? Can someone help me with Way of the Wise Giant Toad? He keeps oneshotting me with his ridiculous 360 degree spear sweep.
Nioh thread
Bump, anyone?
Maybe you should specify your platform first you retard
Also toad is one of the easiest bosses in the game.
Ps4, PC?
I killed it, never mind. Toad isn't the easiest, he gets new moves on higher difficulties that are hard to deal with. Umi-bozu or the first boss are the easiest.
Good luck on Way of the Nioh. I had to buy a new controller.
toad is definitely one of the easiest youre just awful
Nice job, that one spin slash changes up the entire fight with how you have to watch out for it.
Have fun with the rematch.
I killed every boss besides Shima Sakon first try on the normal difficulty my first run, I definitely don't suck.
he wasn't that hard. is your equipment shit or are you shit?
Nioh 2 Alpha WHEN
Idk, how's this? I also have Warrior of the West bow and Atagi Sadamune to get the 2-piece set bonuses.
your gear is pretty awful to be honest
What do you recommend? I've been using the dash attack invulnerability from Sanada's guardian spirit along with the post-dash attack boost from the set.
what difficulty are you in?
Way of the Wise, said in the OP.
>He keeps oneshotting me with his ridiculous 360 degree spear sweep.
heh. okay champ. i'm going to try and phrase this question im about to ask you as simple as i can, hoping that something might register in that sub brain of yours:
ever thought about using approximately 359 degrees of his sweep to plan and dodge his attack accordingly until he hits you literally by the last degree?
take your time to answer that, son.
The levels are probably fine but you could be getting a hell of a lot more from it by tempering some effects you actually enjoy and benefit from. Also it's not Ethereal but it might take some time till you can reliably get that set so it's just your luck.
>Way of the Wise
well i'm gonna stop right here since I got absolutely filtered in that difficulty.
Honestly, how are you even playing? that cycle is absolute trashcan garbage. You're forced to spend like 5 minutes on mobs and bigger mobs until they die, and one hit from them is a finisher. Shit was so fucking annoying.
Not forced at all if you just take full advantage of the mechanics and a few effects. Everyone should know about Weaken Melee Weapons and maximizing combo damage.
Idk man, it's fun and the variety in the spear moveset always makes me feel like I have the tools to address anything in the game, even if it oneshots me as soon as I mess up.
Imagine not playing this on release and going fire kusarigama perma living weapon 10k dps build.
Steamrolling isn't very fun, obviously there are stronger builds but for me, it's the spear.
>Steamrolling isn't very fun
Yes it is. Especially when you're on way of the Nioh. Who the fuck would want to go through all of that again like it's a first playthrough, let alone the other previous difficulties.
In any case I think they've patched out the perma LW builds.
People that actually enjoy the game and exploring and making use of all the cool fun mechanics instead of mashing one button on everything? That just does both the game and you a disservice.
Yeah they have, you're forced to do some mediocre cookie cutter build now because apparentlyy singleplayer games shouldn't allow you to be OP on your 5th playthrough.
I did that 3 times already. I just wanted to get to end game, not get 1 shot by every mob for 2 more entire playthroughs.
>Who the fuck would want to go through all of that again
Me.
How the fuck are you getting hit by trash mobs (outside of wheelmonks and doggos, fuck those) by WOTN?
Then slap on Weaken Melee Weapons, Quickchange, Janomecho, Tatenashi, Nullify Damage etc. There are an obscene amount of ways to reduce damage to nothing and most are a lot more interesting. There's also plenty ways to mix up your playstyle and improve, you could be feeling that way precisely because you just tore through everything, but the only difficulty that doesn't really change is Strong.
>LW spam not the very definition of mediocre cookie cutter build
>mediocre cookie cutter build
I understand 'mediocre,' but how are any builds cookie cutter? There isn't enough of a community for this game for there to be standard 'builds' people take from streamers.
Mate, i was literally backing up my saves into the psn cloud to create the absolute perfect weapons/armor before they added the ability to use those stones to reroll the perfect stats. I was min/maxed the fuck out og style.
I have my own build and it fucks everything up. Especially bosses with LW
Oh wait, Ninja Oni too. Fuck those guys, I still haven't figured out the best way to deal with them.
Based kusabro
Don't have any armor screens, but you get the gist.
Just figured something cool out, the Biwa-bokuboku's weakpoint for ranged weapons is the instrument.
What does that have to do with complaining about oneshots despite not having any survival effects/tools or LW being the most basic and boring way to play?
If you mean 2kat ninja oni, they're slower than they appear and expose their horn during their dodges so punish them with a single hit so as not to ruin the double stab opportunity. They have short range on most of their attacks so dodge backwards.
If you mean kusarigama oni then they can go to hell, if you can't catch the horn when they phase in just confuse and melt them.
When does 2 release again?
Got my stats though.
The ones with the hand cannons. They fuck me up almost every time.
>he doesn't have a Yata Mirror
laughinggaijins.jpg
Aside from the ranged assisted suicide they're just like the 2kat ones. If you do accidentally keep swinging after hitting the horn then be sure to come up with a backup combo.
fuck man, if i remember correctly you dodge through it
the invincibility frames for the dodge, i think are the first frames....so you just slam williams body into the attack and you should go through it
also op, if youre playing heavy armor than you're just fucked...game is designed for speed
Heavy armour can be extremely effective actually as it doesn't hinder speed very much, you get huge damage reduction and Toughness and a ton of powerful sets.
yeah, if you don't mind moving like a slug. also light armor gives you a whole other dodging animation. and its cool as fuck.
The speed isn't that slow at all though, and there are easy ways to increase movement speed drastically. That dodge animation isn't exclusive to A agility.
ive put on the heavy armor, you can't close in for immediate punish when a enemy backs too far off, you can close distance fast enough for max punish, and the light stance spin dodge animation is only for low weight katana users.
also works with the spear in low stance, with light armor.
You can just dash round to catch up instead of dodging, using something like Tiger Running Scrolls if need be. I was pretty sure that dodge animation was simply weapon specific but if not then that's a shame, I'll have to doublecheck. Either way, heavy armour has a lot of its own advantages and is very worth using if someone so chooses.
see i never used the magic with the exception of that soul power or whatever it was. only scrolls i unlocked were combat related, i think there were like 3 that were outside of the combat techniques. i can't even remember if scrolls and techniques are the same thing lol...fuck it. game was fun, but also a total bitch.
I can't get this fucker lower than 75% health pls help
game is about dodge and punish man, also some of these bosses or mini bosses, whatever you want to classify them as...you can counter some of their attacks with your combat techniques that offer counter moves etc etc
cant remember that faggot, the faggots that fucked my shit up for like 3 straight days were the two kings at the same time. i eventually got those literal faggots thoguh.
Tiger Running is Ninjutsu, but yeah you really miss out on a lot if you don't put as least some investment into the Ninja and Onmyo trees. Some of it is a bit broken but most of it is very useful and fun, and there's a reason it gives you the first dojo missions for them before basic weapons and hands out those extra skill points. Items, jutsus and effects are like the trifecta of things people ignore that would give them a much smoother time, except for the few OP ones that just make people learn nothing.
Kinda hard to give specific advice, he's overall a very honest fight where you have to learn how to deal with his moveset and know the punishes. Focus mainly on Ki damage when he's in LW, as if he's a yokai, you can headshot him to put him out of it immediately but he only gives a few openings for that, and Daion Jin's sake is nice to avoid getting blustered.
