its gonna be on the 4th, The 4.0 overview and Hero's Dossier will be shown as the 'surprise' for EVO's smash finals, as nintendo has to build hype for the switch since every single game at EVO outside smash is gonna be played on Ps4 and Sony is a main sponsor of the event.
THE PROBLEM IS... nintendo doesnt know that for EVO hype, the surprise MUST be something that we dont know, or 4.0 is a big patch, and i mean BIG or AT LEAST DLC4 is revealed, not something that we already knew.

everyone knows already that Hero is finished and ready to ship, and clearly, either Nintendo or Sakurai decided to delay him for hype, theres no reason for the delay, if they are gonna present something at EVO, must be something new, not something that should have been released 2 weeks ago.
if they dont release HEro/4.0 this week and show only those trailers in EVO, people are gonna get mad, even insulted.

I have to imagine the 4.0 patch will include a new mode or two, just as 3.0 included Stage Builder. We know Home Run Contest is coming, but that alone isn't a huge reveal. Then again, esports still isn't the biggest of Nintendo's concerns, so showing off Hero, stage, new Mii costumes, and Home Run Contest may be more than enough for what they want to showcase at an event like EVO (if that is indeed when the reveal is).
All the same, if they did wanna blow some minds, showing a new mode or a feature heavy beloved mode like Smash Run in Ultimate would be pretty big, especially if something like Smash Run optionally has online play as well.
