I finished Rorona (original), Ayesha, and the three Mysterious games. I almost finished Escha & Logy and got maybe halfway through Totori. Never played Meruru, Shallie or Lulua. I'm working on the DX games now.

Sophie was the only one to do this. Ayesha did things differently and knocked it out of the park.

They apologized for it being a broken mess at launch. It was fixed eventually. It's definitely one of the worst in the series though, although I wouldn't call it legit bad. There are far worse JRPGs out there.

It wasn't just a broken mess, It's also that they built up a huge world with a huge story and mystery about how alchemy is bringing about the second coming of the dusk, and Shallie didnt care about any of that shit nor did it solve the whole dusk nonsense.

Not that the story is by any means the hook of the Atelier series, it's always some dumb shit, but it doesn't help when the character interaction doesn't make sense and you're not really sure you understand half of whats going on.

Up until this point it's always been turn-based using the characters speed to determine turn order. Like in FFX.

It seems they decided to change it in this game and made it ATB or something like that. It's kinda hard to teel because it looks way too chaotic. FFV and FFX-2 use ATB iirc, but you can turn it off if you want.
