Literally nearly evry highly praised n64 game has aged badly.
Meanwhile most PS1 and Saturn games are still perfectly playable today.
Prove me wrong.

vidya can't age

OP is right
The only people I see replaying N64 games are smash bros. players getting a fix of ssb64

Only the shooters have aged poorly.

The shooters aged better than Halo though because unlike that game they avoided aping PC shooters

Reminder that there is and has always been a bias against the N64 for no good reason.

For future autists who see this thread while scouring the archives:

This guy is wrong. The N64 is generally liked by Yea Forums, even if the mainstay titles haven't aged greatly.

for 2D games they're both equally adequate, but for 3D games it is the perfect opposite of what you say. what 3D PS1 game other than MGS would anyone ever actually want to play, today? versus the Rare classics, Mario 64, etc. which are still playable today.

That entire generation is full of unplayable trash. What games are perfectly playable on PS1? FF7 is only playable if you play one of the higher res modern versions. MGS1 is totally and completely unplayable today and yes the door-flipping and missile-jumping GameCube remake is objectively superior. Vagrant Story is jaggy Parkinson’s shaky trash. All PS1 games have that look form to perspective correction. Crash and Spyro are simplistic as their remakes show. CTR may have been better than MK64 but it doesn’t hold up as a modern game. SotN is good but most 2D games suffer from ungodly load times.

The PS1 is a trash console. It’s pure garbage; anybody playing PS1 games on their Vita needs to be gassed to death

What are you gonna do with that big, black bat, Homer?

Xenogears, vandal hearts 2, vanguard bandits, lunar 1 & 2, ff tactics, legend of mana...

>Xenogears
Xenogears sucks
>vandal hearts 2, vanguard bandits
Can’t comment, didn’t play
>lunar 1 & 2, ff tactics
There are better ways to play these
>legend of mana..
Was always a terrible game. You have shit tastes in antiquated 2D JRPGs

And F-Zero X. It plays so differently than GX and has a different charm. But yeah I still agree the system as a whole was pretty bad.

Hell, Majora's Mask 64 has stood the test of time after almost two decades better than its own fucking remake has from 4 years ago.

As a huge lifelong n64 fanboy I will admit most textures are dogshit and a lot of games have garbage draw distance. Even for the time period.

I don't have to prove you wrong...

Attached: download (2).gif (512x384, 1.21M)

>a lot of games have garbage draw distance. Even for the time period.
?
PS1 games don’t even have draw distance

Yes they do. Do you not understand what draw distance means?

Also best draw distance of that entire console generation was Battle for Naboo on N64.

>Yes they do. Do you not understand what draw distance means?
Your typical PS1 game used 2D prerendered backgrounds or took place inside of tiny rooms. Spyro was considered a technical marvel just because it had N64-esque draw distances, which it achieved by dropping all textures on polygons if they were past a certain distance.

So I don’t get the whole thing about N64 draw distances. Mario 64 and Pilotwings 64, both launch games, have massive draw distance. People must be taking the Turok fog meme too seriously.

How can anyone prove you wrong when you’re simply retarded? You see the world through the eyes of a mentally disabled person. You’ll never be able to even grasp functional thinking and it would be irresponsible for us to try. It would only upset you and you’ll be dead before you’re 30 anyway. Best leave you to your delusions - it’s more humane.

>death race
>x cup was randomisers berfore they became mainstream

Thank god most of the games that were successful back in the day have been remade.

vandal hearts 2 was trash, the original was better.

Thankfully there's a guy fixing most of the mistakes with the remake, he's already fixed the swimming, deku jumping, ice arrows and song of time, he also managed to put the masks on the d-pad too

>PS1

Only Castlevania. Everything else is shit.

Ape Escape >>>>>> SM64

>MGS1 is totally and completely unplayable today
Explain this. I actually don't understand it. I replayed it last month and it's still great.

okay HOW the FUCK does a 4 year old with no reading comprehension or higher cognitive function 100 percent a game like spyro?

Attached: 1528473521616.jpg (360x360, 27K)

This desu, I can't stand Mario 64, OOT, or MM. Even the remakes suck. F-Zero, Paper Mario, and Smash Bros. are the only N64 games I enjoy these days.

Starfox is still the best in the series, but that's not saying much.

That said, PS1 and Saturn games all suck too. It was an awkward transition generation, and barely anything aged well.

Attached: weeb.png (300x300, 113K)

You are wrong, blinded by your nostalgia for the console wars of the late 90s. It's time to let go.

>autism
Weak bait

Spyro has sipmle controls.
You can jump and glide you can breath fire and do a horn charge and also jump while doing so also spyro has little to no precision platforming.

Banjo has a ton of gimmicks and a decent chunk of 3d precision platforming.

For future autists who see this thread while scouring the archives:
This guy is wrong. The N64 is generally shitposted by Yea Forums, even if the mainstay titles have aged well.
Seriously, we can have a nice discussion from time to time but then the retards always show up.

I've seen it, and it's fantastic so far. There are some other changes I'd love to see:
>toning down the lighting in most environments (probably never ever)
>massively speeding up Notebook entries and updates (it's probably impossible to outright retool the Notebook UI to be like it was in 64, so speeding up 3D's Notebook shit with cut or at least perceptibly instant sped-up animations would be the next best thing)
>removing or reducing the retarded changes in the boss fights (for instance, can they at least eliminate the dopey and distracting cutaway that happens whenever you knock down Goht?)

Not realy i never had a n64 or a ps1 especially not a saturn i speak strictly from me emulating games.
I had a PC.
I am speaking strictly from emulation perspective.
I am just comparing all the different games iv emulated over the years and literally only N64 games i could even remotely enjoy where Paper Mario Mischief makers and Sin and punishment.
All other games are ether super tedious to play or way to clunky to play.

N64 games aged very well compared to PS1 and Saturn warped flickerfests

>Pure garbage
Based

Git gud

Most 4-year-olds in my country can read and hold simple discussions.
Maybe your country has spent less on education wages?

Oh yesh man i love intelligent cube

3D ps1 games can still look good to this day.

Attached: 1488428792456.jpg (640x480, 46K)

sure, when rendered on an emulator that uses hacks to fix all the problems with the PS1

>Kid wont play blurry n64 game but plays all the way through shiny new graphics game
Derp.

>comparing emulated version of games
Pure fucking retard, not only did you emulate and therefore increasing the emulation, you also used the enhancement on the ps1's inability to render 3d properly, at this point you might as well add texture packs to the n64 version.
That way we can compare things that never were as a way to judge how things were.
You fucking retard.

>Clanker holds up
Damn straight

N64 only has good 1st party games plus Banjo Kazooie. PSX has a much larger library, better visuals, and actual consistent framerates

>better visuals

N64 debuted during a time when 3D games were in their infancy so most control like ass by today's standards. I imagine most 2D games on the N64 still hold up though.

Yeah

tried playing this the other night with friends. mario tennis has aged the best.

cool cherrypicks, faggot. now let's see those 5fps in Perfect Dark and those glorious Superman 64 visuals.
t. n64 owner

Nah, I think we should have more of a look at PS1's technically most advanced games like Soul Reaver.

Are there any N64 Shmups on the same level of quality as pic related?

Attached: 51+rH1yZXuL._AC_SL1500_.jpg (500x495, 33K)

There isn't a Shmup on ANY platform that holds the same level of quality as your pic user
Einhander was a beautiful fluke that will never be matched

fpbp

Videogames don't age, fuck you.

But I played Super Mario 64 for the very first time this year, and it seems to be a fine game

Yes they do. Just like movies, music, and art. they all age

Banjo's still easy as fuck to play though. The only move you need to actually know is talon trot and you can breeze through the first few worlds.

Wrastlin games
Best version of Gauntlet Legends
Ogre Battle 64
Waverace
Bomberman 64

It had some good games

Attached: wcwnwocover.jpg (450x318, 122K)

The only 64 game I've played in the last decade was Ogre Battle 64. But I play PS1 games all the time and saturn games sometimes.

>actual consistent framerates
Shadowman is borderline unplayable on PS1 and works perfectly on N64.

>sony walkmans arent outdated bro why are you using a smart phone

I think it's just because the AKI engine is so robust that it holds up well. Just like how the early PS2 Smackdown games hold up well because of the arcade style gameplay lending itself very well to wrasslin'
