Seriously though a Winter War FPS with campaigns on both sides has kino potential. Both sides were poorly prepared for the war, just in different ways. Seeing the massive clusterfucks going on from different perspectives would be sweet. Imagine something like the Battle of Raate Road, first from the soviet perspective where all your vehicles are worth jack shit, people have no idea what they're doing, and the white devils are everywhere. Definitely Objective: Survive or Escape material. Then the same battle from the Finnish side, where you see how little men and guns they really had, having to pull fast hit and runs to make the russians think they're surrounded, with the entire operation being in danger of failing in the case of a single fuckup.

LE STOP TRYING TO GLORIFY THE NAZIS is more or less what you would get. To this day I think it would be interesting to play some axis campaigns, and not just because of some edgy "play the gud guys" bullshit but because these are real campaigns that happened and they were real soldiers fighting and dying with the comrades just like the allies were. You don't have to say they're the good guys, you barely need to fucking mention the global politics to just follow the story of a german squad advancing through europe, examine their tactics and weapons because we've already used the M1 garand and thompson to death as primary weapons. Even throw in a mission where you ultimately lose that's fine, it would just be something new and different.
Maybe like 10 years ago you coulda made it happen, make a ww2 campaign with axis characters and missions just to shake it up but it would never fly now

Red army went from being top tier in tactics and strategy and terrible in execution and everything else, to barely good enough tactics and strategy and pretty good everything else. For a while it was, yes, a dumpster fire. But it's fascinating how they went from being armchair strategists who were great at western style military strategy and got really confused when the strategies weren't working because the soviet units themselves were shit, to an army that doesn't bother with deeper strategy and just throws enough men, tanks and artillery at a problem and wins that way.
