most of the mechanics, practical level design

I love Prey's open-ended exploration but the recycler actually kills the difficulty like an hour thirty minutes in and the level design, while admirable in how immersive it attempts to be, often weren't really that engaging as levels. I remember them feeling kinda short as much as I enjoyed the initial exploration.

Story, setting, OST, enemy variety, situation variety, exploration, weapons, powers

basically everything except maybe level design and "gunplay"

Story, Characters, Gameplay, Graphics, Atmosphere, Soundtrack

Don't replay it but yeah it was great for the time man prey brought back the feeling this game had but more refined.

Never replay anything, but yeah this was amazing. Same with Mass Effect, Portal & Galaxy which also came out in 2007

It actually kind of annoys me that they had a song this strong and emotional in a game where actual spoilers the narrative tension putters out like 2/5ths of the way through and you ultimately learn that nothing you're doing matters whatsoever as you're just going through the motions in a simulation they're using to determine if you, a sentient typhon experiment, can be trusted.

Prey should've been a game where the stakes started sky-high, escalated as you went, and you had to make hard, human choices in the endgame.
