Fuck this was such a good game
It really was. It has it flaws (mostly balancing issues, etc), but it's the most fun I've had in online play. That year between the release of the demo and the release of the US version until people stopped playing much were great. Now it's a wasteland, it's a real shame. That's why I hope to get some anons together and play.

OP here, I actually never had bayo back in the day, just recently got the game again and got the bayo DLC, so I WILL be playing as her, but I suck at her since I never played her anyway. And I haven't played this game in years.

Is there a good character that I should start out with in preparation? Any other tips I should know?
No, that's Yuri Lowenthal as the VA.
You need to play the single-player campaign to unlock the rest of the characters, and you will be playing as Jack or Leo, depending which side you choose.
There are some character tiers but I don't remember much. I believe a lot of people went with the Rin sisters, and Bayonetta also is infamously OP.

Bayo is easy to deal with. Just block if they're in the air and press throw as soon as the heel stomp comes out. Free 1/3 hp off a throw.
The real killers to watch out for are big bulls who have the HWKG down perfectly. They go from slow to the most terrifying character in the game that makes bayonetta look weak.

it's pretty fun, be aware that there might be lag since this is p2p, but hopefully lag isn't too bad. Also, for Survival mode, lag isn't that much of an issue.

You just have to whittle them down and execute them. They have big windups and recoveries
they have a pattern, and you can only kill them with finishers (pressing circle)

I just set up deathmatch on ranked (I thought I had selected player play, but we were on ranked actually, whatever).
So look for deathmatch on ranked and you should find the lobby.
If we're more than 4 maybe we can play another mode

It's a dpad up I think to taunt so don't hit that unless you want a little killer weapon meter at the cost of someone potentially killing you iinstantly
How to combo? Even when I'm doing basic light attacks sometimes people seem to be able to 360 attack out of them.
I don't know what the fuck happened to my copy but I'm gonna be mad as fuck if I buy a new one and nobody's fucking playing next week.
You have delay attacks that are good for setups. Most combo starters are things you chain after launching someone. 360 attacks are something I've been baiting out on you guys since at the end of them you can be hit thrown or stunned.
My controller is broken so it makes random inputs if i shake it
OP here, my controller goes nuts sometimes too. I think it's a sorta common issue with PS3 controller. You need to open them to fix them. So yeah if you see me blocking constantly or going crazy, it's because of my controller. It's been working nice so far though, until now.
Anyway, Cerebus is owning the game! Dude is so much better than the rest of us, hope he doesn't get bored, hahaha.

I'm having fun no matter what is happening honestly. This game is an old favorite and it's fun to play period. No other real games like it are out there other than powerstone.

The only chicks that were super broken were Bayonetta ( unless you played alot, then she became much weaker due to predictability )
And perhaps Ai Rin just having really safe setups. She was predictable too since people discovered a stun window in stuff they thought was safe.

Funny to know I'm not the only one with this problem though. PS3 controllers are really filmsy.
I've never had my ps3 controller break but then again I use usb ones more than it so I will just hope mine doesn't die suddenly.

I saw bayonetta just sitting still and ripe for the picking if that was you I went after in rampage mode. I will say at neutral when someone is coming at you, immediately lock onto them. If two people are coming at you then hope the third guy doesn't have an ice barrel or all 3 of the people gathered are dead

It's a gen and then some behind. This game was super active on launch but platform issues were when it got left behind.

For some reason I cannot add people. I might have to do it via my vita or something since I'm over the max ps3 or something. Also a tip. You can control the big beserker mutants under some conditions. It's kinda cool. Only useful in vs though.

I'm down for mad survival. I will say I hope you guys can handle some REALLY hard fights. They're also really fun too.
You have to know how to combo to beat barbot or he will rape you. He is basically like gene from godhand on stelroids. Or that butler you fight in the arena. I'd call it a homage or unintentional one more than anything.

It was fun. They definitely need to port this game to future platforms. They went all in with the multiplayer to the point where the game even starts it highlighted.

Yeah, I played the japanese version a lot back then. Just recently got the game again, the US version, I'm gonna be playing some more single player now. Already unlocked Durga and Garuda while playing mp now.
