These threads are always circlejerks of people whining about how they're now neets and miss being a kid, how society died in 2007 when they cancelled some random cartoons, and how old games good new games bad.

I was born around this time and my first console was the Wiikino which we have to stan.

is that fucking jerma

97-2005 was the peak of civilization. It had an overall quality about it that made it feel like "this is home".
If only I got to experience more of that time...

And this bad boy too

>how society died in 2007 when they cancelled some random cartoons
Cartoons that came after my window, like Flapjack and Chowder, I thought were creative and refreshing, had few qualms honestly
I'm honestly more concerned with the consolidation of information networks under corporations and the ubiquity of online presence killing the spirit of the public and of course, the vile, "progressive" inclusiveness of people that suck at video games
I distinctly feel apprehensive about 2011, I think TF2 going F2P left a bigger unconscious scar than I previously comprehended

My aunt opened a net cafe. I came there to play some snes emulation games. Then some older dudes asked me to join their CS1.0 game. I was scared shitless as a child because I thought that I was playing as two hands. Then they showed me that They Hunger mod that I couldn't even finish.
Good time.

we need to go back to before the "enlightenment" that's where it all went wrong

I was very young, born 98, but played huge amounts of games from that period as soon as I could pick up a controller and use a keyboard. my earliest memories are me playing tenchu 1/2, mgs, re 1-3, mario/dk 64, zelda oot/mm, deus ex, ff 7/8, daggerfall, perfect dark, soul reaver, along side some xbox, gc and ps2 games like morrowind, halo, kotor, jak 1/2, ff10 etc.

my dad bought everything and played everything, I had so much access to vidya and a huge variety.

Starcraft -> CS/TFC -> D2 -> WoW

Minus the niche TFC this was the gaming powercurve in popularity. Pre-SC you played everything. Starcraft was gamings first addiction.

God I miss interfaces like this.

holy fuck pretty sure i got my mom to rent this from blockbuster once.

>97-2005 was the peak of civilization. It had an overall quality about it that made it feel like "this is home".
>If only I got to experience more of that time...
You're only saying that because you grew up in that time. People 10 years older than you believe that 87-97 was a better era and 97-2005 was the start of corporate globalized fake shit.

There is always a huge chunk of faggots who were born in le wrong generation, too. And that one faggot like you who tries to absolve himself by pointing his finger at other people.

Pic related, a shitfag like you.

Unreal Tournament and to a lesser degree Quake 3. I didn't quite get Counterstrike, it just seemed so slow to me. Of course once Diablo 2 came around, I've sunk hundreds of hours into it.

Fuck, I can't believe I'm 35 already. I'll be ded soon.

Damn Koreans were ahead of the time and it took consoles a long time to catch up with virtual currencies

Mostly brood war, lord of destruction, and original counter-strike were my favs. Didnt own a n64 but loved mario 64, zelda, goldeneye at friends houses.

Gen xers older than you complained about the 80s being gone, and thought your millennial childhood of Phantom menace, Backstreet boys, Pokemon, N64, Spongebob, Britney, etc. was soulless the same way you perceive zoomer culture as soulless

Yeah i agree. While I'm not totally a "new tech bad" luddite, social media has had some rather negative effects on the internet.

I was a baby

S T A R C R A F T
until we got busted playing the custom map i made with my friends where you blew up our school. people were touchy as shit after columbine

how the fuck is yahoo still that relevant?

edgy

I remember that people used to consider 1998-2004 the downfall of pop culture and the cancerous teen pop / nu metal / trl era. People kept saying "1993-1997 was the true 90s" or "That 98-99 pokemon britney nsync matrix stuff wasn't true 90s, felt more like proto-2000s".

But nowadays, you have people in their late 20s on Buzzfeed/Twitter saying how 1998-2004 was the golden age of pop culture or "the 90sest era ever", and consider anything before 1998 to be outdated/overrated/not interesting for them. A complete reversal in opinions.

What era do y'all think felt more 90s: 1993-1997, or 1998-2004?

thats not even edgy for the late 90s. most of the people at my high school were crashing their parents mercedes and OD'ing on heroin.

I truly pity you for you don't even know what you have lost.

it wasn't because of cartoons. society died in 2007 thanks to twitter and the smartphone

when youre 50 and go on internet to get your daily news feed?
maybe you go on yahoo since its your homepage for some reason

well you were right

>which was more 90s, 5 years of the 90s or 2 years of the 90s plus 5 years of the 2000s

are you actually retarded?

COPE harder zoomer, my two older siblings are gen xers and they love the fuckign backstreet boys and britney spears than any millennial I know. Protip: it wasn't underage millennials going to their concerts.

>97
>start of corporate globalized fake shit

what kind of moron says this? have they never heard of the entirety of the 80s?

then get the fuck out of this thread faggot

are you sure they're gen x because boy bands are the exact kind of shit gen x typically hates

2008 was where the left went off the rails. Leading up to that, we'd been infiltrated by dreidel spinning socialist trash for decades in our media and schools. When America made the mistake of electing a socialist dindu in an attempt to prove they weren't racist, he sent out a signal to the far left that it was time for them to stop hiding. Now we have Bad Orangeman™ who's been brilliant at getting the democrat party to completely take the masks off and come out openly as anti-American, anti-white male socialists.

2012*

I think they're referring mostly to things like the 1996 telecommunications act really taking hold around that time, plus the rise of the internet, which led to media gaining a more homogenous flavor which was noticeable by 98-99.

Everquest?
Asherons Call??
Ultima???

Starfox 64 and Mario 64 on my N64.

Guy my mom was fucking at the time said "hey let's get some real games on this computer" and bought me Diablo 2 (this is when it retailed for $60 and came in a huge box), which was my introduction to PC gaming.

Here's your (((YOU))), bait. Internet and technology were fun until social media fucking turned everyone into monsters.

and fantasy sports

When was the time you feel true happiness while playing a videogame?
>you will never feel the same feel you had as a kid while opening a new game and reading a manual

Well in 95-97 I was playing Ski Free, Chips Challenge, and Pipe Dream on the family computer running Windows 3.1, and some Genesis games like Streets of Rage, Sonic & Knuckles ect. By 98' I had an N64, but my grandma introduced me to games like Age of Empires, Inherent Evil, and Sims. My grandma is responsible for my love of PC games and computers in general.
