I'm Rapier and Great Sword is my waifu.

Sword and board for life.

Halberds. Regular axes, her shortstack sister, have been growing on me lately.

Where my hammerchads at?

>no spears in the game

Attached: disgusted.jpg (800x450, 43K)

It makes good sense as most fanta sea "weapons" are jagged penises filled holes and random thorns just to look edgy so of course an actual weapon would be the superior choice

For me it's the Bastard Sword.

One or Two-handed, so versatile.

Attached: IMG_20150622_170723.jpg (677x508, 98K)

based and redpilled

There is a lot of ridiculous actual weapons too though, especially in the East.

I'm all about something that fucks up shit in one hit if connects, so something like heavy cudgel/mace.

Not enough fantasy games let you go into battle with a poleaxe just magic swords, spears, maces, and axes.

Attached: poleaxe.jpg (1011x1024, 152K)

It's niche, it's ridiculous, it's egregious, it's totally overkill
And it's my baby in whatever game it's in.

Attached: d15euijfds.jpg (600x1667, 42K)

I like the morningstar mace. I first grew infatuated with it playing Morrowind as a kid and seeing the Ordinators with them. It stuck with me so much I bought one a few months ago.

Attached: A7764199-F82F-406C-BF6C-F9241A05EE00.jpg (4032x3024, 2.79M)

I was never into bows until I played Skyrim and Dark Souls in which case it's absolutely overpowered as shit. Otherwise, one-handed maces or hammers.

A large mace or cudgel would probably be categorized as a maul.

Attached: Maul.jpg (630x447, 40K)

"fookin legend" Dagger please.

Always a bitch for the large weapons like pic related, perhaps thats compensation...

Attached: images - 2019-07-28T120056.512.jpg (739x415, 28K)

Judging by the pics, maul is more like warhammer, and I'd go with something that's more like the weapon Vagrant Story's Minotaur Boss wields.

Poleaxe waifu is the only clear choice

Attached: Type-IX-1.jpg (2126x1417, 277K)

Warhammers were typically pretty small, especially the heads, see the thing this guy is holding? That's what Warhammers looked like.

Mauls are the big ones with the large heads.

I actually remembered the exact kind of weapon I like (visually, lol, have no idea how good it is at actually smashing stuff), it's tetsubo.

Is there a weapon that has as much simplistic elegance as the bow? Where my archer boys at?

Only other acceptable weaponfu is a halberd.

Don't underestimate that little hammer head either, it'll also ruin your day.

Sure, but its also harder than swinging a heavy metal object and can be countered with distance and a thick enough piece of wood.
Javelins are neat though.

Bow is nice indeed.

They're usually not all metal, most were mostly made of wood with just a metal head and maybe some langets to reinforce it. It's just the combo of a nice metal pick and a nice metal hammer head for focusing your force that helps it deal with Armour. A club tends to spread out your force too much.

this hilt seems too small for a longsword

You can troll people with spear in Bushido Blade 2. Damn, this game deserves a remake.

i see
warhammers are just thin clubs

it's just Burst vs Sustain.

Longbows are OP, but you want them crossbows to deal with pesky knights getting all up in your boys.

You cannot be a dark elf bard dual-wielding bows though.

A thin club would be a stick

okay then a war hammer is a thin club with another thin spiked club on the top

This post reeks of garlic.

Attached: Bat'leth Frostmourne and awesome face.png (640x360, 384K)

great idea
but what if those smaller clubs were on fire

It is though, any of the shorter Longwords which can be readily be used in one hand are regularly referred to as "Bastard" or "Hand and a Half" swords. To just say Longsword would be inaccurate because that referees primarily to a two-handed weapon if we're referring to the medieval period, while arming swords are one handed weapon, Bastard Swords are in-between.

You should probably research the topic more to save yourself from future embarrassment.

Attached: proxy.duckduckgo.com.jpg (474x634, 53K)

A club/axe that doubles as a pipe

You are now aware that the average warrior through most of history would have referred to any sword as "sword" and most designations were added later by historians to help distinguish various broad categories of swords across a long expanse of time

Attached: Barbarian.jpg (567x724, 50K)

I generally like:
-Standard longsword with shield. Dragon's Dogma was the most fun for a shielded swordsman.
-Halberds. Dark souls gave satisfactory combat.
-Spears with 1 hand. If 2 handed, glaive or halberd. If 1 handed, let me have a shield. Dicey to make this good combat however. Can't really name a game that has done it satisfactory for me. I swear there was one but I forget.

I fucking hate Zweihandery oversized 2 handed swords It's the shittest weapon for a bunch of mindless faggots who want to cosplay as their idol Guts or Artorias and they should make like either of those losers and get raped by Giant black things.

You 2 handed bastard/longswordsmen are fine though.

I believe the Romans (and perhaps the greeks?) made distinctions based generally on nationality.

Longbows are good against fully armored knights as well, arguably better than crossbows in some areas. British longbowmen were devestating to french knights.
The british could employ so many longbowmen because they made it law that to hunt or just generally participate in games, you had to use the longbow. They had a pool of already experienced plebs to draw from

Warhammers and poleaxes tend to be my favorites unless there's magical versions of said weapons.
Only one way to find out if it's truly haunted, so yes. Reminds me of a haunted guitar amp that used to be in my family's possession, it would cause all sorts of bullshit. Will force herself on you if you aren't paying attention.

Katana
Curvaceous and usually dressed up in expensive fashion.
Pretends to be fierce and has a sharp toungue.
Likes to show off
Hard to figure out her real personality at first but
Is actually sensitive and frail.
A good all arounder, and a high maintenance girl.

My choice IRL is katana>rapier>longsword>huge swords like nodachi and big two handed scottish long swords>naginata

Thank you. I feel like, in a way, children are closer to reality than adults and that they have a better understanding of what matters. They can be massive fucking cunts sometimes though, but that doesn't really change into adulthood.

I went through a HEMAfag phase recently and it felt like I was emptily chasing the aesthetic of reality in what is out and out fantasy. That's really unfulfilling. I'd rather be messing with interesting concepts that you don't see that often. Also don't get me wrong, there are some really fucking good looking weapons, they just never feel right as the focus of an ensemble unless they have that crazy flair. Basic stuff is still good, but as long as it goes hand in hand with magic.
Regardless of all of that, nowadays I care more about the people holding the weapons than the weapons themselves.

Attached: h2_14.25.321.jpg (804x1827, 180K)

Warhammers are good too. A bit out of my comfort zone, but it's the only choice if you're against armour.

Attached: european-war-hammer-2342-p.jpg (871x871, 85K)

A lot of sabre fencing basically just boils down to parry -> riposte. Compared to something like longsword (the most popular weapon in HEMA) it's pretty straightforward.

People like to meme about it being braindead but it's also an easy system to learn and teach to large numbers of people in a short amount of time, like soldiers for example.

Longswords are so unbelievably complex due to the length and the fact that the entire sword is useful as a weapon. You have near limitless possibilities for what you can do with a longsword, but a sabre, being shorter and curved, is very good at a particular thing. Calling sabres predictable is similar to calling pikes predictable. You're doing one thing with your pike, and no other weapon is better at that one thing.

>but a sabre, being shorter and curved, is very good at a particular thing
Which is looking aesthetic as fuck when swung from horseback.

Test

Polearms are just so sexy.

Attached: 1493969725891.jpg (527x702, 79K)

It's less to do with the qualities of the weapon itself and more how systems are taught and practiced.

As I said earlier, the way sabre fencing is taught is very straightforward because it's designed to be taught to large groups of soldiers.

Looking at Liechtenauer longsword sources from the middle/late 15th century, you see things like single time counters, weak vs strong in the bind, pressure levels and direction in the bind which determine what you should do next, etc.

>only choice if you're against armour.
Wrong

Attached: 01-IMG_3591.jpg (979x1200, 280K)

There is nothing more freeing than playing a game where your character isn't the main character. I don't feel pressured into playing my character in a "protagonist" way.

>It's less to do with the qualities of the weapon
The way the martial art is developed is because of the qualities of the weapon. Liechtenauer taught longswords because in a duel scenario, they are generally the most useful and can be used incredibly skillfully. A warhammer, for instance, due to its qualities, does not have extensive martial arts behind it, or any sufficient martial arts, because it is too straightforward to need any advanced training.
Maces are worse warhammers. There's more utility on a warhammer, especially when you have the spike on top. The nail side of the hammer can be used for piercing, for hooking weapons, armour, etc. A mace is essentially a weighted stick which really, really hurts.

I prefer playing some ordinary sod to playing the chosen one. Fuck chosen ones.

Attached: AA232_l.jpg (579x1517, 149K)

Maces are better than weighted sticks, since those flanges stick in armor, upgrading damage from really, really hurts to holy shit it hurts.

You can put a spike on top of a mace too, besides a mace has no edge alignment so all hits you make are good hits.

I really like the idea of a weapon casting tool, especially something like DS2's chime mace or dragon's dogma's Magik Shield

Dual wield daggers only

1d4chan.org/wiki/Pole-arm

>One of the most iconic pole-arms, differing from the poleaxe in both form and function. Intended as more of a formation weapon than an individual weapon, both the shaft and spike were longer, as it was primarily a thrusting weapon. While possessing an ax's blade (which typically featured a slant pointing downward as opposed to a straight parallel or circular edge), it was less used for chopping (due to its unwieldy nature) and more as an extra attack; the ax was used in a draw cut in case the thrust missed its target and attempted to close in. The blade could also pull a mounted knight off his horse, though the bill was better known for this tactic. In the early Renaissance, the Halberd was a favorite weapon of the Dobbeltsöldner, being a good weapon to bump away enemy pikes and then blend the innards of the peasants holding the pikes.

The thing you and your ilk don't quite get is that Bastard Swords are a subcategory of Longsword just like Longsword is a subcategory of Medieval European Sword which is a subcategory of Swords.

Or she just uses the extra leverage to pull the sword free

Which sword

I won't play a modern military/sci-fi fps that doesn't have a p90 or a suitable knock off

Thanks user.

nah man, she wants the D
U can tell from the pixels and from being stabbed myself quite a few times

It's a nice gun, I'll give you that. But the engravings give you no tactical advantage whatsoever, unless you were planning to auction it off as a collectors item

I prefer pic related any day.

I'd bet Ocelot would be pretty damn stoked if he got a pair of SAAs engraved with magic runes that glow and give a damage buff if you spin the weapon before firing.

In a row?

>Not knowing about the buffs
Pros know when to back down just from seeing their enemies' weapons

that's not a halberd, that's a poleaxe

How bad is it that I like this movie?

It isn't, because I fucking love it
I just can't get enough of intentionally over-the-top acting, and it's so high up that it can't even see the top any more
I think they realised early on how ridiculous the Shakespearean would sound in this setting and just rolled with it

>fantasy rpg with tons of weapon types
>can't use the chaddest weapons of them all
thanks mordhau for letting me live the polearm dream :)
