I don't think Crash is ready for the leap to actual open world yet. That said, I don't want none of the shitty powerups from 3. 2 should be the base for all future Crash games. It's time for people to stop thinking that bigger automatically means better.

Fuck open world crash games, and fuck warped power ups. The crash 2 formula was perfect. More of that, with relics, and maybe some new type of collectible.
Something worth the $40-60 price tag though, the game length of Crash 2-3 is great but not worth a full game price nowadays so it's difficult to place what to do
I would totally play TWoC and Twinsanity again if they fixed them up but right now I think it's time for a new game before any of that.
It would be better and more effective to workshop ideas from both of those games and splice them together to create a brand new game. Introduce the same old characters in brand new ways.

Seriously fuck them. What good did any of those powerups do for Warped's gameplay? They were almost never needed to progress, and when they were it felt needlessly arbitrary. Every other time, it trivialized large portions of the game. Completely broke them.

Tiny would work great as an alternative to Crash because Tiny is clearly designed as a bigger, meaner Crash. He has an exaggerated version of Crash's body shape, wears a similar outfit, is orange, jumps around a lot, and is very strong (and not too bright)

I think vehicle stages would work if there was just one of each
1st homeworld- ball-rolling level (hardly even a vehicle level and still kinda fun, WoC just sucked at it)
2nd homeworld- coco's jet ski but with a way sharper turn, just better controls in general
3rd homeworld- polar/pura level
4th homeworld- deep sea level, but it's more like ratchet&clank's hydropack where you hold down a button to go consistently faster
5th homeworld- jetpack level but actual good controls
also you can be either crash or coco for anything, totally optional
I would like a new game, but just keep the charm and charisma from the originals. I'm not worried about the gameplay as long as VV is doing it. I would prefer more hallway type gameplay but if they can make Twinsanity's gameplay work better I'm willing to give it a shot. I also want Coco and Crunch to be playable but not in vehicles.

I'd also want boss cutscenes in the style of CTRNF, showing us more of the personality of the bosses. Alternatively, instead of those ND bosses, reuse the Nitro Kart bosses and give them different backstories.
If everyone moves the same speed, you can seriously get creative with movement for each character.
Dingodile basic controls & moveset:

I think the best way to go forward is to just acknowledge some stuff happened, but don't bring it up.
Best of both worlds. You can keep Crunch as a good guy big bro and Nina as a bratty minion, but you don't have to deal with the tonal whiplash of Twinsanity or mediocrity of WoC.
That's pretty negligible since it can either be considered a random ass dragon or just be used as a pursuit prop in whatever the next game is.
They can, they could also do a new origin story for him, but establishing Crunch is pretty easy even with discounting WoC completely. I do like some of the level locales. Whether you'd reuse them or make new ones is the question.

The original production bible for Crash mentioned that the ancient, but extinct people that used to inhabit the islands and built all the temples were pretty advanced. Maybe some ancient artifact starts wreaking havoc on the islands, and everyone has to get together to stop it. Discovering old “new” tech along the way. I like the idea that all the old villains in Crash are sort of doing their own things now, like they’ve moved on with their lives. They can be allies.

I agree although I think stages should be opened up quite a bit so each one has multiple routes that split even further into more routes to give each stage depth. Plot wise I think it should focus on Tropy who was barely a footnote in 3 and have his time antics affect your gameplay which could tie into the multiple routes thing.
I can accept hallways because the og trilogy was on the PS1 and the remakes were of the PS1 games.
there is no reason to restrict Crash anymore, if you do I might get Sonic Forces flashbacks.
But the failing of modern Sonic games is attempting what you're suggesting, it chased the Mario dragon and is in the state it's in because of it with Mania showing that Sonic should have never left 2D, Crash has it's own niche with its own direction, it's own strength and it shouldn't abandon that at least not completely.
If that were the case then the GBA games would be better then the first three games.
Some would say they are and even if you're not one of them they're still better than 90% of the 3D titles. I happened to like Twinsanity quite a lot and I'm one of those people who hope the next game they remake is just that with all the missing content but I also think an open world is the wrong direction for Crash, open stages are another thing providing they're not Mario Odyssey style but I do think the stages format is Crash at his peak strength.

A reimagining of Wrath of Coryex that would sufice as a true Crash 4
The story would be that N. Gin after many attempts has finally been able to bring back Cortex, N. Tropy and Uka Uka. After being freed Uka Uka would inmediatly demand a new plan to get rid of Crash and N. Gin would mention that Cortex had been secretly working on a new bandicoot since Crash 2 while Crash was collecting the crystals, but this new bandicoot named Crunch wouldn't obey him and didn't want to put him through the Cortex Vortex so he wouldn't accidentally make another Crash, so after hearing this N. Tropy decides to call on a "friend" to help control the bandicoot and thus N. Trance would join the evil team and brainwash Crunch to work for Uka Uka. Then the bad guys would probably crash Crash's birthday party or something like that and it would be up to Crash, Coco and Aku Aku to stop Cortex once again and set Crunch free of his control.
Instead of having the stupid elemental masks Crunch would jist be brainwashed and as such the boss fights no longer would be all fightas against Crunch with a different element, but instead we would just have regular bosses and every 2 "worlds" Crunch would challenge Crash before he is able to move on to the next world, creating a sense of rivalry. As for the regular bosses, the fact that we have N. Trance on board would allow for bosses who really aren't aligned with Cortex to come back by being brainwashed. As for the order it would be:
1. N. Gin in a mech similar to Mecha Bandicoot from Twinsanity
2. Tiny Tiger and Dingodile team-up
-- 1st Crunch encounter
4. A brand new mutant
5. Komodo Bros (Brainwashed)
-- 2nd Crunch encounter
6. Pinstripe (Brainwashed)
7. N. Trance
8. Final Boss: Cortex, Uka Uka and Crunch.
9. Secret Boss after collecting all gems and relics: N. Tropy and N. Trance
Of course Crash and Coco would be playable, but Tawna could show up too for stuff like saving the game or maybe even for some vehicle levels like Coco in Crash 3.

This is great but I would make Uka Uka punish Cortex for his failures in the start in some way (to up the stakes) and exclude him from the rest of the game, to prep for either a sequel where he takes over the show or something that takes elements from Twinsanity.
Cortex is my favourite character but he needs some rest. Give the spotlight to N. Trance, Uka Uka and N. Tropy like in N. Tranced. And make way for a sequel that's all about Cortex.
Also, final boss should be just Uka Uka and Crunch. N. Trance's mind control fails once you defeat him but Uka Uka will posseses Crunch for the last chapter of the game.

I would agree with you if it wasn't for just one thing. This would be the first new Crash mainline game in DECADES and it wouldn't feel right to exclude Cortex from the comeback game. Its like if Mario was absent for 10 years except for spin offs and remakes and when the first new game came out Bowser was excluded and the big bad was Wart. Its just something you don't so for a big comeback game.

Doing something so radical could also prove helpful in avoiding falling into the same trap as many "comebacks" usually do: repeat the old and fail to stand on your own legs. Wrath of Cortex did it by being just a Warped rehash. It wasn't really a new game, it was a safe attempt from new developers that just screams "average or less so".
I'm all about playing it safe myself but threre is something called too safe. You don't remake/reboot three 20 year old games just to release a sequel that also feels like a remake.

Thats what gameplay is for. WoC didn't feel like a rehash because Cortex was the main bad, it was because the game had the same warp room as Crash 3, same powerups as Crash 3, was structured like Crash 3, only returning characters were from Crash 3, etc, etc, etc...
They could keep Cortex if they keep the gameplay fresh like in the old trilogy where Crash 2 felt different enough from Crash 3 despite the fact both had warp rooms, animal riding and Cortex as the main bad.
Almost perfect, I just think N Trophy and N Trance should be the main villains with Cortex being kicked out into the arctic by Uka Uka for failing so many times. I'm seriously hoping we get a WOC/CNT reimagining for the next game, I don't know how else they would introduce characters like Crunch or N Trance without it
