Why has there been no game able to top Chao Garden?
I can't believe Sega baited the fanbase by saying Forces had Adventure elements in it for extra bucks and made them pay for hot garbage expecting something good.

Skipping huge parts of the levels in SA1 is so fun. I need to make a webm of playing Windy Valley as Tails by maneuvering through loading zones.
While Sega truly hadn't managed to make a Sonic game that was on-par with Adventure 2 until Mania, Adventure 2 is still mediocre at best.
I have no fucking clue why anyone holds it up on a pedestal, its all over the place and doesn't really know what it wants to be.
SA2 is bad, though? Adventure was a lot better.

You mean in how terrible it is? Sonic 06 managed to be just as bad as SA2 was. And even a bit worse in some areas, if you can believe it.

nostalgia is an ugly thing
I also have nostalgia for it, I played it a ton on the GC when it came out, but I recognized even then it was a mediocre game and just didn't hold up to the Genesis games in terms of production quality and having a cohesive vision and set of core systems.

SA1 is better but even then it's a 6/10 at best.
I have said it numerous times in the past and I will yet again. There has never ever been a good 3D Sonic game.

Anyone who paid for Forces expecting something good deserves what they got. We already knew months ahead of time that the game would be mediocre from what little gameplay they showed off.
Would love to seem them remake all their failed titles and make them crazy good suddenly.
Imagine the Storybook games but good.

Cannon's Core is probably averagging out to good overall.
So combined, most missions are either fantastic are good/great, a little less as many are decent/servicable, and you have a few bad ones. So overall on average, the game's soemwhere between decent and good also then have the chao garden, all of the alternate missions, the MP mode, the fucking 10/10 soundtrack, etc, which bumps it up further.
See above. The game's at least a 7/10, i'd argue closer to ajn 8/10.

lolno, pretty much all of Amy and big's campaigns are bad to decent AT BEST; and while Gamma is decent, and Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles are all good, they all share stages and the gameplay expirence is a lot less distinct. The chao garden is also way less fleshed out and there's not a whole mission system.

you what, not a single tails/eggman level is outright bad, at worst they are boring, and some like Cosmic Wall and Weapon's bed are outright great.
they tried once under budget and under staffed, failed, then never tried again
