i'm playing it right now, long fucking game

already beaten it. that submarine twist was dumb as fuck. i mean how the fuck did they smuggle it into kamurocho sewers in the first place?

Actually playing it right now. Gotem

Playing it right now, user. Finished the story a few days ago and now going through the side cases and friend quests.

Is this worth buying? Haven't play any Yakuza game yet.

Look dude, when you have the government backing your sewer adventures you don't ask questions about logistics.

It's not connected to any of the other games except for being set in the same city. So you can easily play it as a stand alone game. Otherwise, start with the original on PS2 (or emulated) and work through release order, or do what most newcomers do nowadays and start with 0, Kiwami and Kiwami 2.

Not going to buy any Yakuza game after they released Kiwami 2 on Steam. Especially considering Judgement is mediocre like Kiwami 2: I was head over heels for it and was quite taken aback by a few things which were mentioned in reviews, so I'll hold off for this one, considering it's not ideal either.

I can't afford it.

What have you heard that turned you off Judgment? I've been a fan since the original two PS2 games and I think it's one of the best in the series.

Go look up some no commentary gameplay of like the third or fourth chapter since the game starts out quite slow and see if you like it. It's set in the same area and world as the Yakuza games but outside of very minor references which you have to even know that they are there's nothing to spoil you on that. The minigames are enjoyable, the Side Cases are all quite funny (Though they're filled with tailing a lot of the time), and the characters and story are all great.

If you want to give a Yakuza game out give PS2 1 a try even if it's one of the older games it's still fun and it will give a very small baseline look at how the games work. You can also give 0 a try if you want as that's more modern plus it's usually on sale on both PS4 and PC nowadays so the barrier of entry is quite low.

I'm waiting for it to hit steam so I can get my free copy

Nipples.

beat it.
good story but everything a lot of the other shit is pretty boring.

Yakuza 0 is still the magnus opus of the series

I just finished it
It was great

2 will always be my favourite, but I agree that 0 is probably the best game overall.

Judgment has by far the best story, but 0 is the better game because it's high quality in several aspects which is not something you see in the other Yakuza games.

Waiting for the PC release my man.

>but 0 is the better game because it's high quality in several aspects
which aspects are those?
a lot of the side content sucks ass, and the styles are terribly balanced.

I think Kiwami 2 is great
Sue me.

So do I, user.

Attached: 1544977570444.jpg (1200x675, 70K)

Does the game run like ass on normal ps4 though, might wait for pc release

It's decent. Some drops some times when you're running around Kamurocho and you encounter huge crowds, but nothing too debilitating. Fights are pretty good.
Game is worth playing for the story and Final Boss fight mostly.

900p like all other DE games on base, gameplay is roughly 25-28 FPS, cutscenes are in the low 20's. Pro's are 1080p with 30 FPS in gameplay barring two exceptions, but in cutscenes it ranges from 23-28. No clue on the 4K mode but I would assume it would run worse.

PC retards detected

What gave you that impression, user? I've been playing since the originals so I stick to console.

Attached: 1564059336444.jpg (454x229, 43K)

Waiting for my copy to come in the mail.

So what are those boxes you get in the mailbox after each patch?

I don't see them in my inventory anywhere
If they open automatically, how am I supposed to know what was inside?

>THEY'RE GOING TO COME ON US!

The first two were a couple healing items (Toughness Z and a Tauriner) alongside some Hug Bombs. The last two were materials for drones and extracts respectively. The drone one gives you a Master Plan Blueprint alongside like 5 of the top tier items (The ones you get from casinos) while the extract stuff I'm not sure on.

It's just another Yakuza game. Same map. Same shitty combat. Same fucking game we've been playing for over 10 years. But with less to do in it. What's there to talk about?

Until they release an ACTUALLY new game then there's no discussion to be had. People who are sick of this shit will say they're sick of this shit and the autistic fanboys who refuse to hear criticism or allow others to express it will say they're wrong (without explaining why) and insist that we all swallow the same shit again and again until SEGA goes out of business or the sun explodes. These threads are the only thing which are bigger wastes of time than the games themselves.

PS3 remasters in English when?

Attached: 1543320316140.jpg (1300x1300, 94K)

I like that we're finally fucking free from Kiryu, I couldn't stomach yet another mainline entry with him, so Judgement success means that Ichiban is finally getting his proper game.

Honestly didn't expect to like Yagami, because both his VA and model make him look like a massive asshole for some reason, glad that wasn't correct.
Good humour, and I especially enjoyed RGGTeam giving Yagami (and other characters) some smartass qwips during serious story moment, like during Hamura questioning.
Combat STILL feels somehow worse than any other game not made on new Dragon Engine. It's like they've lost some soul after moving on to it.

Attached: EAZ4TU3W4AED_7M.jpg (3840x2160, 963K)

>Combat STILL feels somehow worse than any other game not made on new Dragon Engine.
It's seriously just that dumb blocking system mixed in with the lack of Heat Actions. On Yagami's end it's also the slow recovery times of everything, Yagami actually has fun styles but Crane for example suffers due to the enemies blocking everything from it while Tiger can just mosey on through.

I actually went back and played some Y5 today and the combat felt a lot better. I think I can best explain it as being more in control of what you're doing. The Dragon Engine combat is more fluid and flashy, for sure, but I kinda preferred the gamey jank of the original engine.

Man shut the fuck up, the combat is as flawless as it ever was

>the 2 previous posts actually criticize the combat
>the usual Yakuza thread court jester has to somehow stir shit up

The lack of Heat actions is killing my fucking soul here. They're either terribly specific (like the swing one), unsatisfying (downed heat moves are pretty much just repurposed Kiryu's face kick, unless when it's not and it's slightly more fun), or just outright boring and shit we've already seen. I've found precisely two heat actions that I've enjoyed, but couldn't replicate, and they involved cars. One is Yagami pulling someone away from the incoming car, and the other one is you somehow kicking an enemy inside a car with 2 yakuzas, that just fucking YEET THEM AWAY (I wish I could do that again, but only managed to once while fighting Honda).
And Kihei gang bosses are just not fun to fight (aside from Koga), along with the whole threat mechanic.

samefag
there's nothing wrong with the combat, and you'd know that if you'd actually played them

Just finish posting your copypastas and move on already.

user, you don't understand.
I gave Yakuza 6 a pass because they were moving onto new engine, so they were probably working shit out. But there's Kiwami 1 and 2 out now, so Judgement had no excuse to have the same floaty combat that 6 did. I want to feel like I'm actually controlling a character and I need all the variety the previous installments had. But I'm seeing a ton of reused assets in terms of animations - something that somehow didn't stand out as much before, and believe me, I've played this franchise for a while.

Extract one contained two rainbow things at least. I can’t fight the guy who drops them yet.

>not liking super tiger punch
You make me sick.

But then when you try to do longer tiger combos they can go into that state where they stumble backward after you break their guard and your attacks have extra recovery when you hit them. It’s maddening.

dont criticize yakuza combat

why am i under the impression nobody is playing the game right way? most ppl i see on stream playing the game just mash buttons and use heal when health low. there are cancels for every finisher which means you can seamlessly shift from tiger to crane and back. the battle systems have every element of great action game: parry, interrupt and cancel.if you try no heal (no damage) on everything this game is proper challenge

O-oh, sorry. I haven't been in Yakuza thread in a while, I didn't know you guys got your resident shitposter.

Attached: 1562340966598.jpg (720x889, 75K)

The turtle one in Koi Bride is also fun even if it is another specific one. I also love all the wall action ones and the repurposed Akiyama kick (The one where you launch the guy into the air and then kick him). I think a big problem is the focus on the Devil Trigger mode, they keep putting a bunch of Heat Actions into it (Just look at how many new ones are there from all the combos compared to what Kiryu had) which steals from the regular ones. Lack of weapons also factors into it since K2 had way more thanks to all the street stuff while this one was clearly done off of 6's version of the engine so we were stuck with a lot less which sucks.
>And Kihei gang bosses are just not fun to fight (aside from Koga), along with the whole threat mechanic.
It would be fine if it was on an hour or so timer or they didn't stick the spawn rate to the max level, but instead it's just so frustrating and the rewards are basically all worthless outside of the Rainbow Pyroxenes. I'm a fan of beating the shit out of Kasai, YAGAMI is always fun to hear and reading his shittalk is fun because he's the one you can trounce. Koga's annoying but at least he's a good challenge, Sakakiba is a pushover and boring, Honda is fun for phase 1 but phase 2 is just unfair.

Koga drops rainbow ones, he'll be unlocked in either 11 or 12.

You can actually take advantage of that because once you do that you'll get a couple hits in and then they go back to doing the back stagger. If you S1T1 (Charge the T) it'll stun them, and then you can do a complete combo. It's still annoying though.

You haven't played any of the games, fuck off

A telltale sign is when a copypasta is posted and you start seeing an influx of short posts with some variation of "stop saying mean things to yakuza" in a patronizing sarcastic way.

Somewhat relevant, but I finally got to play Y6.

Gameplay/combat is all over the place but I nerfed myself by not upgrading the attack portions of my stats and that actually made the bosses more challenging. That said, I was surprised to find myself actually loving the story and new characters. I personally feel that the story got a lot of flak that it didn't really deserve.

Wait, is Judgment's combat not that great? Was thinking about picking it up.

Thanks for the heads up. So is it an obsessed Yakuza fan or an obsessed Yakuza hater?

I haven't played it (yet), but I've usually heard the opposite

Mental Illness

If you are coming off from the PS3 era games it will feel a bit sluggish but the difference between 6 and Judgment is already night and day, they really need to stop blocking midcombos tho.
If you are coming from Kiwami 2 then it's a straight upgrade.

As long as you stay away from grabbing, Ultimate Heat, and sit in the 200 range you should be fine with not being overpowered. The 250-300 range is when it gets silly and you basically walk over bosses (Except for Amon), same deal with K2. Attack 3 in Judgment is balanced quite well, though it's a bit nuts with some of the Keihin Gang's HP bars later in the game. They even buff mooks later on to make up for it in Judgment which is great because the difficulty goes from regular to a decent challenge with every encounter, and the damage is set quite high on Hard and Legend.

Story deserves the flak for what they did to Haruka and how little they used returning characters for Kiryu's final game, but the new characters are all pretty great (Except the final boss), and the story is quite grounded and was enjoyable to follow. I was honestly expecting the worst and got your standard affair just with some questionable design decisions and some dumb choices for the story like I mentioned. The substories were mostly great too, and Onomichi is top tier comfy like Ryukyu.

Attached: YAKUZA 6_ The Song of Life Jingai Ferry Dock_.jpg (1920x1080, 280K)

No, unfortunately it's not as good as in the other games. Which sucks because Yakuza combat isn't all that great to begin with.

I liked 6's story and the new characters as well. I think it has one of the best supporting casts. My main problem with it was just that they once again had to drag out Kiryu and Haruka. Kiryu should have either been left in the snow without a solid ending, or finally went home with Haruka after 5. Making any of the Hiroshima guys the protagonist would have been great.

It's still pretty good. It's an improvement over 6 and Kiwami 2 since it introduces things like wall attacks and a second style. But I personally preferred the original combat system in all the other games. They'll keep refining the Dragon Engine as they make new games though and it will end up just as good eventually.

There are good ones, sure. But I'm just not getting some decisions they took when making it. Yagami's style seems more tame and flashy in comparison to every other one I've seen. Kiryu in 4, 5 and especially 0 was, despite me getting tired of it, the epitome of everything good/cool there was in game's combat. And you had glimpses into other great stuff before, like Seajima's raw unga power, Akiyama's educated feet, Tanimura's choke- and submission holds or Shimada's whatever the fuck that scummy fighting style was. And of course the batshit insanity that was Majima styles.
Yagami generally feels like he's Tanimura-lite, with greater focus on actual martial arts. He seems like the most legit fighter, which detracts from the fun factor for me, but then they put WHACKY HEAT ACTION WOW out of the blue and you're feeling conflicted about the whole thing.
Tiger punch is great though, yeah, but it only works on weakest enemies or before the bosses get their heat on, after which they just either block&stumble away from the punch followup, or just don't let you do it.

Locking moves behind Ex mode (and even extracts, like Kiryu's guard breaking combo) is a fucking crime, and for some reason they decided to remove knife/sword/etc heat moves whatsoever (because lawyers don't kill people, I get it, but I mean neither did Kiryu, aside from those guys in 0. And those other guys on the bridge, etc).
>Honda is fun for phase 1 but phase 2 is just unfair.
Honda is the only one I'm having difficulty with because his P2 forces you to quickstep him everytime just to do 2-3 punches, otherwise you're locked into his grab animation.

Attached: 1564177479082.gif (400x279, 1.78M)

Ah okay. I'll probably skip it then. If it gets a PC release I'll pirate.

>They'll keep refining the Dragon Engine as they make new games though and it will end up just as good eventually.
This. They've been slowly refining the Yakuza games for over a decade. In another few years they'll have figured out a good combat system.

That sucks, I hate posts like that. You should take this poll: strawpoll.me/18349843

Will there be a way to mod the original actor's face in the pc port when that comes out?

There's no option for "just don't feed and ignore" so i can't help you.

A bunch of trolls must have gotten their hands on this. Why would anyone vote no? We can't show these results to the mods.

For phase 2 I just abuse EX Actions. The fact that a single bounce means 50-80% of your health gets taken off is absurd considering how much he bounces you, and his retaliation time is insane, it's basically instant. You can sometimes deal charged attacks to him if you know when to time it (Usually after his attack is finished) but that leaves you open again. I haven't been able to figure out how to deal with phase 2 without cheesing once he gets four bars. It's just such a long fight.

Not on PC yet

This. Once a fight is too difficult, just cheese a victory. The system is terribly balanced and broken as fuck, it's almost like they're telling you to cheese.

The animations aren't 1:1 so even if you model swap there's a genuine possibility that it would fuck up his face during cutscenes.

Could Yagami beat Kiryu?

I think it's still worth discussing these games. If people never talked about the flaws then sega would have no reason to improve them.

I'm tired of getting my ass beat by Amon.
I can't consistently stop this nigger from stealing my phone, and once I get to his final 1 1/2 health bars I can't switch styles fast enough to avoid getting obliterated by his projectiles.

Attached: hank hell.png (500x533, 214K)

No. Yagami gets beaten up like a bitch in his own game.

Attached: EAZ4OZGXoAI6gdf.jpg (3840x2160, 762K)

How much waifu stuff is there to do in this game? I'm a pretty lonely guy so that stuff really appeals to me. Kind of the main attraction to videogames at this point, don't really care about the other stuff

Yagami nearly died three times in the story alone, and he has an entire mechanic built around the fact he's no one special. Dude basically nearly dies getting shot once in gameplay but Kiryu in story shrugs off bullets.

So what's this about this series and making most prominent Kansai characters into absolute madlads?
Majima, Nishitani, and now Shioya - what the FUCK is up with people speaking kansai dialect in this game?

Attached: 1557163552422.jpg (261x193, 13K)

>Implying
He's coming back guaran-fucking-teed, remember how 3 was going to be Kiryu's last game? Yeah, if Ichiban's game doesn't meet expectations they will bring back Kiryu in a heartbeat.
And even then I'm pretty sure he'll appear as an NPC in some form of another.

Everyone in Tokyo is an autistic beta who looks at their feet all day and stammering apologies. They caricature everyone else in Japan and abroad as being insane and loud.

>I'm pretty sure he'll appear as an NPC in some form of another.
That actually would be pretty good.

I could see him being a coach like Komaki, someone has to teach the tiger drop.

I'm sick of Kamurocho

nice shitpost. nobody cares.

It's a completely valid complaint and I agree .I'd take an expanded Sotenbori or Okinawa any day of the week.

Sounds gay and I have like 3 other Yakuza games to play and the Fist of the North Star one to finish. Maybe later.

Expanded Okinawa would be great, I'd also love to see Nakano, Digimon Cyber Sleuth did it but I want Yakuza's take on it if only to get to run around Mandarake. Plus getting into fights on the Broadway would be fun. Rural villages would be cool too, but they'd have to be distinctive compared to what they already did with Onomichi.

Attached: DIGIMON STORY CYBER SLEUTH_20170628035152.jpg (1920x1080, 630K)

why did you buy more before finishing the previous one you idiot

>I agree
I'm sure you do, samefag

He couldn't evem come close if it came down to it. Yagami is weak as fuck, gets beat up several times.

Does he? Shit, I might wait for PC release.

It's SJW shit. Why would I play it?

Moose, you should know better than to feed the trolls

don't feed

I really wanted a revamped winter time Tsukimino since 5 did it dirty with all the bolice and samey city blocks, the snow statues were on point at least, blessed Miku.

>Dragon Engine Tsukimino with more snow sculptures, snow physics, can run across the streets (Make getting hit by a car damage you), way more alleyways and roads, and tons more stores.
Sign me up.

Because console gaming is obsolete.

Meh, I played like 7 Yakuza games. I guess i'm just burned out. I'll get it once it's $10.

>things i dont care about are obselete

Has nothing to do with me or my opinion.
It's objectively obsolete if you think about it for even a second.

>Judgment only has Toughness Z and Staminan X
Could really use some better healing items for these lategame fights where everyone's guarding constantly and Keihin faggots are chopping off half your health

these results are extremely disappointing

This is not a good idea since it'll be too difficult to judge to begin with.

Implementing IDs would be much better and lets you filter off a lot of those shitposters right away.

Attached: PS Communities_20190721_005321.jpg (3840x2160, 789K)

When the fuck is 3 4 5 HD.
Announce them already. I like Judgment, but miss the more shady shit of Kamurocho.

Forever locked in Nippon like kenzan and Ishin.

At Playstation Experience this year alongside Ishin, both coming in 2020.

>Nagoshi of the Nagoshi Clan Subsidiary of the Sega Clan said they were made for the west
Fuck off. Need them now.

At that point you might as well just go to reddit

He technically only said overseas fans so he kept his promised since China and Korea got the ps4 ports at record time.

I play it and enyoing it much more than Yakuza 6. I can't write about those threads tho, because I'm afraid that someone will spoil it for me.

Brainlet

I don' t know what it is.

IDs are not permanent, it's not the same thing. It's also on Yea Forums so it's not like this is not part of the system.

We need IDs and to ban anyone praising Yakuza in a sarcastic way.

this

Agreed. Or passive aggressive posts.

don't forget patronizing posts. they've been a blight on yakuza threads for a while now. implement an ID system so we can identify and ban patronizing posters.

How much exp does Omega Bombs give? I need like 25k more exp to max out yagami.

Roughly 800 if you've taken a Growth Extract.

I can't think of a good reason not to do this. Imagine how much better Yea Forums would get overnight.

Irony.

Attached: 3736363626262.jpg (2560x1920, 1.97M)

I bought it because I'm a good goy weeb, but it's really just Yakuza but not as good.

Serious question: how do we make this happen? Is there a way to contact the mod team and show them how much we want this?

Based KJMProductions

That's definitely a Indian pretending to be black on the internet again.

based

Next you are gonna ask me how a skip turns into an elevator

Still not over the twist in 6

bad writing in japanese games is called "quirky" "charming" "soul"
the same stuff in a western game would lead to a thousand youtube videos called "HOW DUMB ARE THESE RETARDED WRITERS???"

I don't remember any submarine in sewers??

you might be joking but this is an unironically great idea

You have to beat the game entirely in drone mode ro unlock the secret ending.

too fucking right

Played the entire game using Tiger.
Crane has better music unfortunately.

I was going to go with crane because speed is life but it's impossible to use because you can't ever start combos.

Crane is only useful for the EX Boost attack where you tatsumaki people.

pretty much the cycle of death in Judgment

>spam flux fissure to max the gauge
>spam triangle in ex boost crane to murder everything
>repeat
