To be honest I barely know how to drive automatic.

Why is this a big deal anyway, you get used to it super fast if you have to

Underground 2
Yes, I still haven't driven a single auto yet.

>3-6% of new cars sold are manual
>everyone on Yea Forums can drive manual
as if you needed proof Yea Forums is full of contrarians

>Yea Forums is an american website
Where I live, most cars are manual. I imagine most of Europe is similar.

>New cars
Yeah, because all the 20-something in this site can totally afford a new car.

>implying anyone buys new cars in my shithole.

Almost everyone in Euro drives manual, automatic is the lesser driving experience.

I'm 24 and just put down the deposit on a new BMW M3, the rest of which I'll pay on receipt of the car.
What the fuck are you doing?

Auto is cruise control and we don't have that many stretches of empty land in Euroland compared to US. Manual gives you more granular control over your driving.

Every English speaking website is by default American, unless specifically otherwise.

Taint.

Burnout Paradise
Yes but I drive automatic because it's better.

80% of cars sold in Europe are manual.
Why are you posting during the European hours, NA user? Go to sleep.

i've bought 2 new cars in my 20s and im 29. one was a bmw and another is a ford truck eat shit nigger

Clitoris.

Ballistic NG
I'd have way more trouble on auto

This, plus people will look at you like you're an idiot or a woman if you drive an automatic and not manual.

Burnout Paradise
Yes but I drived some automatic hybrid and electrical recently and it's pretty comfy desu

Beetle Adventure Racing
I learned how to, but only ever drive automatic. I'm probably out of practice.

>be amerifat
>never driven manual
>want to learn
>cant find a cheap enough manual car that I could fuck up

Manual cars are actually more expensive in NA than in EU.

yeah. the lowest prices i've seen are 2k at minimum that dont have complete engine problems.

Mass production economics for you, manual is more niche in murrica so fewer of them get made which means longer lead times and higher costs per unit.
I've been told though the best way to ensure no one steals you car over there is to drive a manual transmission one.

Don't know, used to be GT3 but I haven't played pretty much any racing games in years. Love Burnout until Revenge and first Most wanted was my fav Nfs.

Burnout Paradise

I only drive manual cause i live in a slav country but my friend recently bought an automatic and it looks so comfy he basically sits back and does jackshit. Is it worth getting an automatic for my next car lads?

I'm 27, it's never too late to be slightly less pathetic

Why do so few Americans know how to drive manual?

GRID
Of course, in not American

Crash Team Racing.
I don't drive. I have people for that.

It is if you live in a city, drove manual for 15 years and constantly shifting when you're in traffic annoyed the shit out of me.

because they cost more now and dealers have jewed the populace into thinking that manual cars = bad. and generally people dont give a fuck about driving and just want to get to point a to point b with minimal interaction as possible.

Burnout Legends
Yes
manual is a thing of the past tho and I don't think I'll drive a manual ever again

GT2
yeah

At the very last, this will solve itself with electric cars.

Manual cars are more fun to drive and 1-2000 euros cheaper usually, so I'd always choose it ahead of automatics, even though auto transmissions nowadays are pretty much superior in every way

GT Sport
Yes, but sorely lacking practice. I'll have to drive manual very soon.

mario kart 8
i don't drive

I don't play racing games.
Yes, where i live you can only get your driver's licence on a manual.

wait theres manual in paradise?

based

R-Factor 2. Of course.

How can you get licence without being able to drive manual? Is it american thing?

If you haven't clued in on the defining trait of progress is less work, why change gears get an automatic, why park when you can get park assist, why learn to spell when you have autocorrect, why write when you can text. People are lazy as shit If i had to drive in bumper to bumper traffic i'd want an automatic as well i guess

Dual clutch gearboxes are better for performance and launch control

>DR 2.0
>fuck yes

depends if you like driving.
I find being with auto just really fucking boring and joyless. Like chunk of satisfaction and fun is removed.

Manual transmission is an American anti-theft system.

Is that Backwards Compatible? I still have that on OG Xbox, I remember the music being very much... "of that time".

Live for Speed
Who doesn't?

Assetto Corsa
>Americans think this is an achievement

Where the fuck do you live, if your driving schools don't have an auto-only driving lessons?
I'm a slav, got my license almost 8 years ago, and at least half of people I was studying with (women mostly) took their driving practice and exam on a car with auto. I'd imagine most of yurop and asia is like that as well.

Get a DSG from audi/VW

Burnout paradise
Kind of

I recently learned that americans dont have roundabouts. That's crazy.

The cope. Asking "Can you drive manual?" is the most American sentence ever.

This, it's like breathing through nose. Nothing special if you can do it, embarassing if you can't.

We have auto only licences here in australia.

If ALL YOU'RE LOOKING FOR is a daily that has power and nice-ish interior(with shit buttons) to get you from A to B with modest styling.
Yeah okay, fine VW is really the specialist in there but a lot of cars around me tend to have random issues that need fixing.

If you want an actual fun hot hatch that brings a smile to your face when you throw it around the twisties rather than holding down gas in straight line and flexing on minivans:
Civic EP3, FN2, new type R (EP3 is by far most fun and raw but new ones are great. Only issue is styling with new type R)
Megane/clio RS (god machines and also have nice modest styling. Driving these you realize that yes renault has an F1 team.)
hyundai i30N (yeah its korean but who the fuck cares it's fucking great)
These will all completely BTFO vw offerings in fun and pleasure.

I can't reccomend the renault trophy cause that shit is basically a race car even compared to type r's feeling like race cars. It's really raw and stiff but really fun and exciting. You'll propably hurt yourself when you corner with it or go through a small pothole or rough road. Surprisingly manages to be midengined scary in a FWD car.

Assetto Corsa
Haven't driven anything but stick

Honestly just drive all the hot hatches and not just drive like normal but redline them, lock ABS while breaking and throw them around corners.
And then go with your feelings.

Wacky Wheels, it was superior to SMK in every way, had sick music, and initially started as a shovelware kart racer for shovelware mascot Skunny, who is a squirrel, and NOT something gross you fucks!!

'96 Jeep got sold a month ago, aka what's probably my final manual after 2 decades, RIP. It was the most reliable car ever made, only thing that ever died was the AC, and that's because a very ex-friend nearly murdered everyone inside when I let her drive. She drove on the wrong side of the road for about a minute uphill to pass an RV in 5th, which she insisted was better than my yelling of 3rd

There's another car behind the RV now, and a huge truck coming in front of us, but instead of slowing the fuck down and letting both pass, she has to try to outrun the RV, because she's borderline like her mom, so we just barely pass the RV and barely miss the truck, but not before the dude driving the truck chucked a couple beer bottles at us and hit the radiator while sharding into the compressor and other AC shit. After years of trying to get her to pay, she gave me $100 and disappeared entirely. I thought it'd be a $600 job, it ended-up being $1200, so I drove around without AC up until 2015, when the heat started pissing my dad off

The guy who bought it was some old dude that's probably just going to cruise around the unincorporated town he lives in and probably do drugs, it should be fine
