Kimahri is a shitty blue mage, but send him through Rikku's path so that he can learn steal. Later on he has a mandatory solo boss fight and it's the only time in the game (other than extrememly post-game) that you can get lvl 3 key spheres. Steal them all.

The "Happy festival fireworks" thing is him trying to cheer Rikku up, he's getting over his hatred of Al Bhed when that happens and by the time you finish learning how fucked Yevon is in Bevelle and reach the Calm Lands he's completely over it.

Summoners having horns goes back to when they were introduced in the series in FFIII, it's a staple of the job and happens more often than not. For example everyone in FFV has a horn when they become summoner and XIV summoner artifact armour has horns.

It's weird how some stuff just looks so much fucking better, and other stuff looks so much worse.
The necklace (as in the actual chain) is great, but the pendant on it just looks like a metal rod. His earring lost all of it's lustre, the shoulderpad has vaguely more defined braiding on it's edges, but the center doesn't look appropriately worn for a guardian/blitz player.
