I want to go back, lads
I want to go back, lads
Sly 2/3 were better. That one was just a linear platformer that was barely more competent than licensed games like Scooby Doo and shit.
It's a great establishing game, all the pieces get put in their spots so that the sequels can build on them.
Just being a linear platformer isn't bad, what's bad is all the complete crap it's overflowing with like a busted toilet, in 2 and 3 the minigamey stuff is fine, mostly because they don't last long and are quick to restart, every goddamn minigame level in the first game is hot garbage.
The entire final world save for half of one level and the very end of the final boss fight is awfull shitty minigames, I don't know where you get the idea to close your game on such a bad note.
>you will never play the trilogy for the first time again
To what? When you were barely 4 years old?
I was in love with my ps2 but never played this.
Should i buy the trilogy?
Why are no sly Cooper games on ps4?
Yes, they are the best platformers on the ps2 along with Jak/Ratchet
Just replay it lmao.
only jak 1 is any good from those, and daxter on psp was alright. ratchet was fantastic in all 3 outings, allthough 3 was more of a corridor shooter than a platformer than 1 and 2
user who played Jak II reporting, Jak 1 felt empty and repetitive and boring in comparison.
the game is 4 hours long and the only repeated task is 7 scout flies in each area. jak II has you moving around a giant city on awful vehicles with bad shooting mechanics. and it shit on the world and lore that the first established
3 > 4 > 2 > 1
It's a fairly dead series unfortunately and Sly 4 made sure of that.
3>1>2
2 had that stupid ass “look for every bottle in this hub” shit which was annoying and had some of the worst chapters (jungle and war area) 3 fixed alot of 2’s issues and 1 is just a solid playformer with minor bugs
cope 2>3>4>1
The first Jak and Daxter is basically a follow up of the collectathons of the N64 era.
I played Jak 2 first, and as such did not impress on Jak 1 like a chick on the first bird it sees. Compared to 2, 1 felt boring and empty to me. Plus, sucks to play as someone who did not speak or have his own perspective. Plus in 2 Jak nad Daxter are actually FRIENDS, and I can feel the dynamic.
Because Sony does not care enough, and there are no developers willing to do the grunt work.
Were these games good? I remember loving this shit back then and the later titles got wild but I remember the first one the most.
The best games in the series.
Jak 1
Sly 2
Ratchet: UYA/3
Yes, but they get worse with each entry. They didn't get bad until the PS3 though, also Ratchet Deadlocked is better than the third game.
your opinion is clouded by nostalgia, 2 isn’t as good as you think it was
Yeah I'm of the same opinion, just didn't feel like going into specifics.
But if I'd have to power rank them
>jak and daxter>Sly 2>ratchet and clank
Something like that, I really like sly 1 for its simplicity. I do like the R&C sequels but they are almost more shooters with platforming elements, instead of vice versa
I played jak 3 first, got the first game years later.
The first game felt a lot more refreshing to me, and it knew what it wanted to be, I agree it's very easy to 100%.
It's a platforming game first hand, so saying it felt empty is like saying that it should have added more detracting elements like side characters that throw minigames at you.
Yes, they were. Make sure you always play the Greatest Hits/Platinum, and you're golden. Black label releases would sometimes have missing music or minor bugs.
The WORLD felt empty, cause NPCs would stay in their designated spots to give you collectables, and have no uses beyond that. Krew and Sig and Onin and Ashelin are way more interesting than some mayor guy and stonecutter dude and bird lady and fellow in a barrel.
>optional collectibles BAD
Exactly. Bottles coming back in 4 was a perfect move. Had to look up the solution to THAT DAMN LAST BOTTLE in the Wild West level.
>Have a story about Time Travel and the Cooper ancestors
>Have to resort to BOB FUCKING COOPER instead of cool ancestors and connor and OC donut steel skunk bad guy relegating Clockwerk to an easter egg
Sly 4 will never not make me mad
The job as to change the past as little as possible. You know Sly confronting Clockwerk is a bad idea, and so did Sly himself.
>not liking Bob
That's fair but Le Paradox was a fucking shithead
I wouldn't mind bob if we got closure with Connor or if we got to do the pirate thing again with Henrietta Cooper.
Sly Cooper was already part of the downfall era
>PS2
>downfall era
???
Anything past 2001 is downfall era
2001-2006 was still fine, both in console and PC. Sure, the signs of the true downfall were there, but it was also the time of mass innovation on both fronts.
2001 to 2005 is the downfall era
Past 2006 is goddamn post-apocalyptic
They wanted to make the game longer, but ran out of time and money. There was going to be ONE more level (Egypt), but money ran out, plus Vita cartridges could not handle that much data. If Sony did not pressure them to develop for 2 platforms at the same time, there would have been Egypt.
>le everything past OG Pong is shit lmao
>equating 2001 with pong era
I know 2001 feels like ancient caveman grug history to zoomers, but goddamn son.
...
This. Although I played 3 first and 2 was basically just Sly gradually getting all the tools that are available at the start of 3.
Scrotum, my friend.
What are you talking about? There are tons of abilities that need to be unlocked AGAIN in Sly 3.
>tfw no ending where Sly has to choose over saving his family from Clockwerk or staying with how things are
That will never happen since the devs outright stated that Sly needs to remain Batman.
>tfw vitanigger
>played all three sets of PS2 platformers in the /comfy/ position
Overall Rachet is my favorite, but Sly is great.
Why was this trilogy so Perfect, lads.
Pure fun and a great story, with a kino bittersweet ending.
Fuck 4 or a 5. I want a Trilogy Remade.
*blocks your path*
1 is unplayable. Such bad gameplay
N'ah, fuck off. it's great. Why the fuck are they so many haters of 1?
it's just one guy, right?
FUCK that shit was hard
kys yourself
I liked the more traditional structure, I always found the weird pseudo-open-world stuff from 2 and 3 really off-putting.
It's probably just one guy, 1 was alright.
Inverted camera?
ON THE X-AXIS??
Ooof!
Bumping with some hot opinions.
Sunset Snake Eyes > Vicious Voodoo > Fire in the Sky > Tide of Terror > Cold Heart of Hate
Canada > Black Chateau > Prague > Anatomy for Disaster > India
Flight of Fancy > Cold Alliance > Dead Men > Honor Among Thieves > Rumble Down Under
The only one I genuinely dislike is Heart of Hate. India and Down Under just weren't my thing.
2>3>1>4
4 was pretty forgettable for me, so I don't have a list for it.
Whoops, missed opera of fear.
Flight of Fancy > Cold Alliance > Dead Men > Opera of Fear > Honor Among Thieves > Rumble Down Under
Yeah you can get it pretty cheap for the ps3
Solid list
Why did they ruin sly 4 by turning her into a villain?
Doesn't matter. 4 ain't canon anyway
Totally agreed, 2 is overrated af, very repetitive, 3(and 4) is more varied and has more platforming than 2.
