the fact that people look for that (or claim to care about it) kinda shows that writers are putting their priorities in the wrong place
they start out by making the character a girl
then build her character around that
then you end up with someone like Sadie Adler, who's honestly pretty fucking awful, but people still defend because of muh representation
that said, if you want a recent example, Miriam from Bloodstained is pretty good
For more story-driven characters, look at Mass Effect. For as much shit as they get for the story and where the series is at now, they did make some pretty damn solid characters, some of which were women
