The NES came out in a time when video games were seen as toys and not serious art forms, like they would later develop into in the 90s and 2000s. The reason the NES library isn't as god-tier as later consoles is because video games were still trying to find their identity.
With this knowledge, the NES isn't overrated at all. It's rated just right for the era it came out in. Its games were great for what they were, and they had plenty of soul.

If you want to compare the NES to arcades we can talk about that but were comparing the NES and the DC and the DC has the best fighting game ever created while the NES doesn't. Only thing the NES is better than is the Master System or the 2600.

N64, Gamecube and SNES are the three best Nintendo consoles. I had an NES in my room for a bit, and got bored even though I have most of the essentials. It really is a boring console when its alone without other consoles as an option.

N64 sucked, I was ever more than happy to take a break from that disappointment just to play the PlayStation and Saturn, Gamecube was evern worse since the Dreamcast, PlayStation 2, and Xbox were better, after the GCN, I stopped buying Nintendo's home consoles and just got an Xbox 360. NES and SNES were the best things Nintendo ever put out in terms of home consoles, for the handhelds their best were GB and GBA, can't wait for the Switch Lite to sit next to those two as the best.
