Midlanders are the basic form of Hyur native to Eorzea. They spread to the Far East because of Allag. Far Eastern Hyur are actually considered a different subrace from Midlanders, as are Dalmascan Hyurs and New World Hyurs. Ardbert is a Hume, not a Hyur.

Elezen are supposedly the first race in Eorzea, yes, but we just found out that all the races came as a result of the original one race fragmenting. Highlanders are a later type of Hyur and aren't even really that different biologically. They just tend to be bigger because of their culture.

Allag was founded by Hyurs, and they were the royalty for thousands of years until the empire fell. Gridania is also a joint venture between Hyurs and Elezen, which is what the Twin Adders represents.

Allag was the major civilization for the whole 3rd era. We really don't know much about the previous eras except that the 2nd Astral was a very religious world full of crusades and witch hunts, and that the 1st Astral was an industrial world that caused the Lightning Calamity through pollution. Before that there's not much information at all except that the Moogles existed and lived on a massive floating continent that was torn apart by the Wind Calamity into what is currently the Sea of Clouds and the Churning Mists.

Far Easterners are a different subrace that came from Hyurs who went there after Allag fell. Ninjutsu and most of Eastern culture is actually rooted in Allag and brought there by the Onishishu who established Heaven on High to try and retain some of Allag's knowledge.
Doma is around 800 years old, and Tenzen's story was around during the civilizations in the region before that. But everything about Tenzen points to it being in our current era. Same as Ivalice.

Garleans are actually considered a separate race that are typically big as fuck. They only use Elezen skeletons out of laziness. The other races you see are conscripts from their conquered nations. Cid's just a manlet.

Nah, what you see in the character creator for races should just be taken as a general "normal" for the races. They're still just as varied as people in real life. For example, even though Yda, Lyse, and Minfilia are Highlanders, they have the build of Midlanders. Gosetsu is also typically what most Roegadyn are 'supposed' to look like in the Far East, but they weren't going to make a whole new separate subrace for unimportant NPCs so they just used Hellsguard models.

Maybe. We don't see any Garleans on the First for some reason yet. But that's all still speculation.
Don't worry, based and our guy Xenosys Vex is working hard to make Yoshi pull it out of the shed, starting with a fix to TBN and LD. He's the one who saved 4.0 WAR.

DRG only really becomes complete at 60, and doesn't quite get good until 70. It's definitely not fast, but your ogcds have ogcds, so you'll rarely be bereft of buttons to mash.

Diurnal feels okay but Nocturnal only has one satisfying sect button (Celestial intersection). Now that WHM are out in full force the fact I'm going to have to get use to Nocturnal is far worse than anythign else atm.

Celestial opposition in nocturnal is a great cooldown though, its basically DT but a bit stronger if you combine it with helios. Horoscope also works better with nocturnal than it does with diurnals hots.

Massive portions of the game is just singleplayer stuff with a Final Fantasy similar story you can play at your own pace. There's actually ~250 hours of required story content to get through as a new player before you can be doing the current new multiplayer stuff. I never really see what is the point in saying anything to your healer as a tank outside of 'you ready?' regardless of the MMO since the only thing I care about as a tank is whether my party is taking damage and if my healer is in any sorta danger. Besides if the healer is doing 'too bad' a job some DPS will always point it out but what said is some good advise. But I think the most important thing here is that as a healer, if you cant heal for massive pulls then just tell the tank so we can compensate.

A 25% shield only becomes worse than rampart past damage that would be lethal unmitigated. Heart of Stone is better than TBN if the hit you're taking is 110% of your HP after the other mitigation you're using.

Say for example Dancer was focused on Crit. Say the 440 gear provides like +340 crit but the new 450 armour doesnt have any crit stats at all. You could meld 2x 60 crit sure but thats then +120 crit rather than 340.

"Seems" harder to stay alive but it's mostly because they want you to use Heart of Stone as a pseudo-The Blackest Night. Rotating your cooldowns is mandatory on GNB and not just a heavy suggestion like for other tanks. It does have utility but it's not very good, mainly related to Heart of Light as a raidwide mitigation and Aurora as a regen to slap onto a teammate (it's better used on yourself most of the time)
It's a blue DPS and genuinely competitive with the melee DPSes for sheer fun, and holds up rather well with wall-to-wall pulls between its AoE DoT and AoE cartridge ability
