A gun isn't as commonplace or as visceral as a chainsaw. This is why snake can use a rocket launcher but not a small combat knife. This is how it works for pretty much any medium

the less detailed a weapon's impact effect the more okay it is to be used in kids media. This is why big silly rocket launchers that cause non-descript explosions are common in e rated media, but a fucking ice pick to stab someone's throat open with isn't allowed. The culture that the tool is associated with also has an effect.

Honestly I just think The Doom Slayer has a muuuuch higher chance. Bethesda has been pushing Doom a lot lately and so has Nintendo. With it being Doom's 25th anniversary as well I think he's pretty fucking guaranteed.

"Slayer" is too M-rated. If he's in, expect him to be called the Doom Marine. Costumes would be classic Doomguy and the Eternal Doom Slayer design with four colors for each.

Ridley is literally titled and portrayed as a fucking god of death. I'm pretty sure "slayer" is child's play.

Pretty hard not to think that when Doom Eternal is currently one of the most heavily promoted/advertised IPs as of 2019. Nintendo is pushing it waaaay more than RE.

I would be absolutely content with Doomguy because he's such a hype pick and Doom is an extremely influential franchise. Plus DLC so far aside from Banjo has been pretty mediocre. Joker was a flavor of the month pick and I had the same reaction for "Hero" as everyone else. I would like one more big hype character so I don't feel like I wasted $25 on one character and a bunch of weeb shit.
