Never played TES. Which one should I pick up?

Never played TES. Which one should I pick up?

Is Morrowind a meme? Should I just get Skyrim?

morrowind, oblivion, skyrim

Just play Oblivion.

Morrowind > Skyrim > Daggerfall > Oblivion >>> Arena

All I know is you can skip Arena and Daggerfall. They are both crap.

Morrowind>daggerfall/skyrim>oblivion

Vanilla
Daggerfall>Morrowind>Skyrim>oblivion>Arena
Modded
Oblivion>Morrowind>Skyrim>Daggerfall(until more unity mods are released)

Daggerfall sucks. It's only liked by poor fags whose PCs couldn't run Morrowind/Oblivion.
Same as RS/WoW basically.

Daggerfall is better than oblivion and Skyrim. Arena is crap though

Skip arena
Daggerfall is a buggy dungeon-crawler with the most advanced rpg elements/customization in the entire series
Morrowind is the perfect blend of rpg and action/adventure
Oblivion is the comfiest, basically a life simulator. Best side quests in the series
Skyrim looks the best, biggest open world that’s fun to explore, good variety of environments

turn on mouse look and daggerfall is basically just morrowind/oblivion

There’s not a single PC made in the past 15 years that can’t at least run morrowind

Morrowind is probably the best one, but none of them are actually worth playing.

>turn on mouse look and daggerfall is basically just morrowind/oblivion
Except ill-conceived, much buggier, boring maps, bad UI and really shitty controls. If I was going to play a classic PC RPG then Daggerfall is way down the bottom of that list.

17 years ago user. Morrowind was murder on those old Voodoo 3D cards.

I'd agree, but modding Oblivion on modern PCs is a massive pain in the ass.

>characters turn into blood when they die
JRPG tier "'' quality ````

Only the townsfolk turn into blood. Every other enemy leaves a corpse including the guards

Man Yea Forums is weird. Morrowind isn't a meme but I've played it and found it pretty boring. I get that it has more of a classic feel to it because your quest log just tells you to go to a certain city and you need to talk to towns people to find out how to get to that city instead of having a map with a waypoint, but does that really make it the best game ever?

there isn't even a proper animation, like in say Might and Magic 6. The game is shlock

The fun in Morrowind comes from the emergent gameplay. Try messing around with spell crafting and alchemy sometime. Stuff can get pretty crazy.

>but does that really make it the best game ever?
Unironically, yes.

Play morrowind and daggerfall.

>muhn vuuh is wuurd

Legendary

The fun in Morrowind is that normies hate it.

Oblivion is for chads, Morrowind is for virgins, Skyrim is for knuckledraggers, Daggerfall is for that one pretty cool teacher you had in high school.

Daggerfall is the only actually good one.

The entire TES franchise has always been a "normie" RPG franchise. Simple watered down mechanics, only one character to take care of, first person perspective, etc., etc. This is all "normie" shit.

>even putting dagger fall on there

dude that game is procedurally generated shit and you know it
it was probably good for the 1990's but it didn't age well at all

>The fun in Morrowind is that normies hate it.
you sound pretty normie to me

Daggerfall is just a worse version of Might and Magic 6, just play that instead.

Morrowind is hard to get into, but its far more replayable than anything thats come out since.

If you've actually never played a TES game before then the best choice for you would be to start with Skyrim. Morrowind has the best story but the gameplay is dated so it's hard to just pick up and play, and Oblivion is... well, it's Oblivion.

Skyrim has the best gameplay experience and it's also the easiest to mod without fucking everything up. After you beat it if you decide you're interested in playing more of the series then work backward and play Oblivion next then Morrowind. The reason you want to play Oblivion 2nd is because it's like Morrowind-lite when it comes to skill and attribute mechanics so it kind of prepares you for the experience while being a lot more forgiving. If you just jump straight into Morrowind from Skyrim you're not going to know what the fuck is going on and you'll get your ass handed to you in the noob dungeon.

> You don't sound abnormal.
Thanks.

I couldn't really get into Daggerfall despite liking the graphics because the interface and controls are just too dated. May or may not be amazing, but definitely hard to get into. Enemies in the tutorial dungeon can outright oneshot you unless you minmax and exploit the fuck out of character creation. Multiple enemies immune to normal weapons, too.

Out of the modern games, it's Morrowind >>> Skyrim > Oblivion.

Skyrim is basically Oblivion 1.5: Now with 50% more grey. Has more interesting landscape but lacks some RPG elements. But both games are fundamentally broken due to random loot and level scaling. Still fun for a while until you notice how shallow they are. Decent as engines for porn mods.

Morrowind is what happens when a company goes all out, and it really shows, it's not Yea Forums's favorite game for nothing. But the slow start and dice rolls make it difficult for zoomers to get into. The expansions are pretty meh because you can't walk 5 meters without running into a group of enemies with a gazillion HP and resistances. Riekling Riders in particular.

no problem dude
anytime

Wait for Daggerfall Unity to be finished within the next 2 months, then play Daggerfall through Skyrim. Thats what I am going to do.
