After replaying Half Life 2 for the first time in a very long time, I have to say that this game still holds up.
What other games have stood the test of time really well?

I messed up user, please forgive me
Games don't age well or poorly. A fun game will be fun no matter how old it is.
but for real if you haven't played Mercenaries 2 go play that shit. the destructible environments were and still are great
That's not true. Some games are better left as memories.
That's only because the game wasn't good, but you were too young to know the difference.

low tier trolling
Silent Hill 1-3
every mainline Resident Evil except CV
Final Fantasy VI, IX, and X
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask
The first half of Mario 64
Banjo-Kazooie
The first three Spyro games
Castlevania 1, IV, and SOTN
there's a bunch more, you just need to look for games with very structured and deliberate design, most survival horror, strategy, and RPGs fall into that category, its much harder for platformers.
Doom, Doom II, and Half-Life 2 i agree with even if im not the biggest fan of them myself.
Yes, anyone claiming HL2 aged well is trolling, I agree.
this
SM64 is timeless
Was 7 when this came out, still holds up well.
It's harder and harder to find games that you can say have aged well as zoomer babbies become less and less capable of recognizing good vidya.
>FO1 didn't age
dude, come on. let's be real. FO2 is still great. but 1 is just so archaic it actually hurts to play.
what makes a vidya good nowadays is how stream-able it is. if it's a game with a great story and game play, but no great reaction moments then it tends to fall into obscurity. devs are wising up to the popular appeal of streamers and the potential for huge revenue via season passes and micro transactions because of steamers acting as unpaid promoters and spokesmen. vidya isn't about the vidya anymore it's about streaming.

Best opening to any game.
still one of the best 4 player couch games of all time
Best intro to any game

Dawn of War intros are great too
literally the best mgs
Nah m8, HL2 aged worse than most games of its era. I found it unplayable after trying to replay it again for like 4 hours.
HL1 on the other hand is infinitely more replayable than 2 will ever be. Episode 1 and 2 are slightly better than HL2 base game however.
holy shit
it's been literally more than a decade since i've seen this intro
oh yeah, well fuck your opinion

I think your problem may be autism.
Company of Heroes was, and still is the best RTS of all time in my opinion.
Age of Empires 2
Settlers 5
RollerCoaster Tycoon 2
Stalker
Dungeon keeper
Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines
Always like to replay it at least once a year.
Doom is an obvious example. I genuinely cannot believe that a 26 year old game is still played by literally millions of people.
Silent Hill is still good, you would think the tank controls would be annoying compared to modern games, but they managed to make it work with their camera
Why does Yea Forums hate Half-Life 2?
This has only been a thing on this board for a few years now. Old Yea Forums thought it was a pretty cool game. Modern Yea Forums tries too hard to be contrarian.
TETRIS
it set the new standard which is now the tired and played out standard.
it's about the game aging, hell none of them do as something made of code can't age, it's the willingness of the player to learn the controls. most people just the excuse "it didn't age well" because they refuse to learn the controls of the game and beg for a remaster so that said controls are as watered down as possible to make it "acceptible" for these types of people.
