Anyone playing the Ghost Recon Breakpoint alpha technical test thing?

Anyone playing the Ghost Recon Breakpoint alpha technical test thing?
I just finished the two available story missions and bugs and unfinished content aside, it's kinda terrible

I played for like 20 minutes, long enough to get the hideout in the mountain. It runs like dogshit on my 1660ti, and there's clearly something wrong with the lighting engine since it keeps bugging out. The gameplay I didn't think was bad, just kinda mediocre. Maybe it gets more interesting once you actually get into missions, but at the beginning you're just shooting a couple guys, looting an area, and running to the next waypoint.

Yea but even that wasn't really fun. It's the exact same it was in wildlands. AI is still pants on head retarded and aiming actually feels worse than in wildlands.

I didn't play Wildlands so I can't compare them.

Also, did they remove voice acting from the tech test for everyone, or did I accidentally turn it off in the settings? I thought maybe the main character was silent, but then I got to a cutscene with the guy from The Walking Dead and his mouth was clearly moving but no words were coming out.

That's a pretty foul looking nigger.

Try restarting the game, that fixed it for me.
The female character still has some robot and some male lines instead of the proper lines, though.

Restart your game, fixed audio for me and a buddy
Enjoying the new movement systems for chars and vehicles and all the new gear, looks like they finally put in the effort in those parts

She's cuter than the other black face.

I understand its unreleased and not finished but it was pretty fucking bad. Much like every other modern Ubisoft game it needs a lot more time in the oven.

>Terrible textures, looks worse than Wildlands
>Everything is foggy, blurry, muddled
>Controls are more sluggish than Wildlands or Division, tons of startup on all movement
>Camera is up your ass at all times even when FoV is maxed
>All the systems are needlessly convoluted and tucked behind way too many diverging menus
>Doesn't run too well even on a 7700k and 1070
>Lots of texture popin even on max draw distance

Overall they somehow made it worse than Wildlands. Sort of like how Division 2 kind of started out worse than Division is now. They're going to need to put in a lot of time fixing this and actually reading feedback because right now the only way I can describe it is "clunky."

But I should go over the pros:

>Vehicles handle better
>More specialization for characters in a party due to having a class system
>Seems to be more weapons/attachments and RPG elements to acquire them
>Bigger map I believe
>Enemies seem to be a bit smarter and drones make things difficult if you go loud (but enemies still don't know how to deal with a sniper 150+ out of range so they just sit there and die)

Wildruns ran like shit too, not surprising.

If you crave more wildlands try sniper ghost warrior 3 with the improvement project mod, it just went on sale for 2 dollars and with the mod it becomes a really fun stealth game wuth the same outpost clearing and gun searching as wildlands.

Why does your game look way more clear? Mine feels like theres a perpetual fog going on. All settings maxed.

Wait it’s up right now? I thought it went live on the 29th

29th is when it ENDS. The current test started this morning.

sick, well hopefully it’s not as broken as the last test

The game absolutely reeks of games-as-service microtransaction shit. Guns, gear, and enemies now have levels, so finding new guns is now pointless because they'll be obsolete as you move on. It's designed solely to keep you on the loot grind treadmill. With the option to pay real money to escape that, of course.

Fuck that. The basic concept of you being a lone operator being hunted by an enemy that outnumbers you and has the edge on technology is solid. Like First Blood, but as a game. But the actual game is kneecapped by shitty live service requirements, generic Ubishit content, and half-assed survival mechanics.

Also, the drone enemies, and heavies with miniguns, are just lazy Division 2 copypasta.

It is.
If you play a female character and check out the customisation options your character permanently becomes male.

>Erewhon
Wonder if that's a placeholder to not spoil later stuff, or if they actually went with that unimaginative name.

Nice

I didn't find the ennemies much smarter. Also the difficulty is really too easy. I was goofing around with the max difficulty to see if the ennemies were smart, or at least challenging. It was terrible. They are dumb as rocks, they can't aim for shit even when at 10m, they make almost no dmg, you can survive 8 or 9 bullets in max difficulty, wtf ? Max difficulty feels like normal difficulty, and a bit on the easy side.

I knew this was gonna run like dog shit. Whatever engine they're using can BARELY hold together in Wildlands, and they're doubling down on everything the sequel. This is the kind of terrible no amount of patches is ever going to fix.

I've noticed that just like in Wildlands, the AI cannot handle snipers. If you're like 100-200 meters away and shoot someone they'll all panic, get to cover and just stop moving. They never send people to find you or anything.

The shitty fog is only in the rainforest area.

How's the difficulty?

>Enemies are levelled
>Can't damage enemies with a level higher than yours
Please no

So its less Wildlands and more Division now with leveling, RPG gear stats and scaling?

>enemies and guns have levels

what fucking autist thought that shit was acceptable

No idea, I couldn't change it up from arcade.

RPGs are popular, so every game needs to have gear stats now

>we want the assassins creed odyssey audience
HAHUAHSAHAHAHAAAAHAHAAAAAAA

What do you expect? Every Ubisoft game is exactly the same with just a different coat of paint. I won't be surprised in the slightest if Watch Dogs 2 has this same RPG progression shit.

>what fucking autist thought that shit was acceptable
Got to sell those XP boosters, bro.

Is Gunsmith any good?

Same as before but somehow more annoying to use

The usual.

But now pretty meaningless as the weapon level is what matters, not individual stats. I suppose you want to kit out your weapons to your liking once you hit the level cap, but before that, you'll be constantly getting new guns and dismantling the old.

Bigger map?

That is what killed Wildlands for me. It was just too big. I got bored going from mission to mission.

Just like the division 2, they managed to make the second game worse than the first game.

Really boggles my mind.

What's wrong with Division 2? I've been thinking of getting it on sale sometime.

For how shit the first time setup menus were the pause menu is only slightly cancerous. Apparently some of the females characters voice lines are in text to speech and I've run into an invulnerability glitch so that's kept me entertained so far.

Worse setting, worse atmosphere, worse enemies, and worse story (and the Division 1's story wasn't that great either). And the gameplay additions like settlements and endgame classes don't add anything actually interesting or fun to the game.

I havent played Wildlands but to me it feels like The Division in the forest with more gunplay instead of RPG. Atleast in the beginning, probably changes when you get further in.

What's wrong with the movement bros? I can't put my finger on it. Why can't it be like MGSV?

Also the first mission had you locate the starting area by description alone which is a massive improvement to lol go to nav point. Pretty neat.

>What's wrong with the movement bros?
The running animation is all weird. The character looks like he shat himself.

Runs like absolute shit no matter the settings, braindead AI, a potential microtransaction nightmare, and fucking HORRIBLE CAMERA. It feels like they've slightly tried to have a gritty/"realistic" feel to the game with finding locations for yourself and such but ruin it with just straight arcade mechanics.

I think most of the animations are good except for when he starts to get fatigued, then yeah he runs like he shat himself.

They still know its you posting these images, they use a proprietary cryptographical imprint as part of the post processing of the running application. Blocking out the alpha codes and username in the image does nothing.

They can't track shit since it's a screenshot of a video file and not directly from the game.

Don't fucking do it, man. Biggest case of buyer's remorse I've had in a long while.

I just noticed I have an invitation to this test on my email. I clicked the link and signed the nondisclosure contract or whatever but where do I get the actual download code? The site just says "thank you!"

You should be able to just download it from the uplay launcher

Should just appear in your uplay library.

I'm willing to forgive bad performance, bugs, glitches, and all the obviously unfinished stuff. It's not even a beta yet. So it's fine, whatever.

But overall, the game feels 20% good ideas, and 80% Corporate Mandated Open World Game Design (tm). It really just goes through a checklist of loot, collectibles on the map, levels, skills, equipment stashes scattered around, generic enemies, and all the other "features" of a bog standard open world game.

After playing the two main missions, I have zero interest in seeing the rest of the game. And why would I? The story is the usual "Evil PMC with drones and shit". And actually exploring and finding new stuff is meaningless since everything is randomized and leveled and scaled. The combat is passable, but sure as shit can't sustain itself over 20+ hours or however long the final game will be.

I completely agree.

i've been staring at this screen for a good 30 minutes now. How long did it take for you guys?

Attached: 20190726_173733_HDR.jpg (2848x1602, 1.22M)

Not even 5 seconds

~5s

Normally I'm a huge autist when it comes to customizing characters and would probably have spent at least 20 minutes creating a character, but I went for the default since it's just a tech test.

Yeah it was there, thanks guys

No, I mean it's stuck on this screen, perpetually loading something.

It's pretty fucking bad. An in-game day passed while on this screen.

>get the invite
>not a home for 2 weeks

well shit

Played in a previous test.
They've dumbed it down a ton since then.
There were no waypoints in the previous version just Morrowind directions and you only had the pistol up until the base.
I was going to pick it up cheap just for the mindless shooting/gun collecting but they really smeared another coat of ubi sandbox paint on top now.

>you can survive 8 or 9 bullets in max difficulty
I died in like 2 bullets

Couldn't wait to be done with it after reaching the hideout, it's so damn boring, I don't even see the point of it being open world, I'm just following a straight line in an open world game, from one objective icon to another objective icon, one outpost to the other copypasted outpost, why not just make it linear levels with tighter more focused level design? Besides padding, why do i have to drive for 2.7k to get from a to b? It does nothing for the game, NOTHING "oh but you can parachute!" I can just go to the base on foot and be more efficient, and instead of driving for forever I'll just fly a chopper there, land and keep the chopper intact so I don't have to drive for long stretches of nothingness instead of dumping it mid air to parachute like an asshole. There is no reason for this game to be open world, not the coop, not the gameplay design, not the level design, nothing. Lifeless world like the last one.

Also it's ridiculous that it took a sequel for them to add an option to move dead bodies.

Is there any way to zoom out the 3rd person camera or is it suppose to be up your ass for le epic claustrophobic action I swear to god wildlands wasn't so zoomed in

Theres a FOV slider, but it doesnt make the camera good still imo.
