It big poop

it tries
music is amazing, villain design is kino as fuck
but the world design is too ambitious and ends up being a bunch of nothing, much of the character design is mediocre
banjo kazooie and tooie are still superior
it's an attempt, but it's aggressively mediocre and capital b is a wasted villain in a game like this

The levels are too big for the amount of content in them. I didn't hate it, but it could have been better.

It's not on the level of Mighty No. 9 but trying to promote something as a Rare game when you've only got two, maybe three people from its classic staff is seedy as fuck. It has moments of charm but it was a shallow imitation of something they had no hope of making.

But the game does have a lot of content in it.

It got more shit than it probably deserved due to the whole JonTron-thing. The way they handled that was pretty damn retarded though.

7/10
Its a solid game with a various amount of fun mechanics to play with but it suffers with many of the platforming genres biggest flaws.
The Jontron controversy didn't help it much either.

Worse than both Banjo games

Good idea, overall good art, horrible level design, music is either good or terrible, bad controls. Would be a 6/10, but since it's literally banjo team behind it, it gets a 3/10. Horrible disaster/. The pedobait indie shit Hat in Time had overall better levels and controls.

>since it's literally banjo team behind it
Actually, it literally isn't the Banjo team behind it. It still deserves a 3/10 though.

Is it worth playing if you got it for free? I noticed yesterday that I added it to my library when they gave it in Twitch Prime.

>it's literally banjo team behind it
It astounded me people believed this at the time and it BAFFLES me people believe it now. Just look up the fucking credits and compare.

How would you improve the sequel?

Why don’t the PS4 and Xbone versions updated with the 64 Tonic update yet

PC and Switch has been having it for months

What makes it even dumber is that the Kickstarter page showed the entire team and what each person had done.

The musical split between the 3 guys is only comparing how much better David Wise is with action songs than Grant is.

Trev, INEPT, and Capital Bee’s boss themes are 10/10

Probably the most "average" game I've ever played.

GET WOKE

After the patches it’s actually really good

Not super duper amazing but if your a fan of collectathon platformers in the style of Banjo, this game is definitely up your ally, I enjoyed it.
It takes a while to get used to the physics and it really starts to show during Kartos segments but you’ll be in the flow of things.

People overhated it back then

sorry fellas, lemme ju-

>but if your a fan of collectathon platformers in the style of Banjo, this game is definitely up your ally
I'm sick of hearing this shit because it couldn't even surpass a fucking N64 game from 1998.

Posting the most underrated Kino

>The musical split between the 3 guys
why did they even get the battletoads guy
hell, why did they get wise if it was supposed to be a successor to banjo where it was only grant

I blame Unity, nobody can make a proper 3D game with that engine, the physics are too fucked

Half the reason 64 platformers were good was because of the physics

I love David wise but the guy forgot that the boss music is supposed to be a remix of the worlds theme

Some areas are way too big for their own good and one of the zones is just outright bad. Play Hat in Time for a better collectathon experience

fppp

It bugs me that there isn’t a proper rip of ALL the music

Waterworks is really good

>Kirkhope phones it in for Yooka-Laylee
>now it's obvious Wise is doing it for Impossible Lair
Pretty sure the only boss theme that was an arrangement of any theme was the final boss. The world themes sucked anyway. World 2 is the worst snow theme Kirkhope has ever made.

Like other have said, I think the biggest problem for YL is the big empty worlds.
It just feels like bad fluff and makes trekking the worlds a chore.

I really feel like the game was unfinished.
The mechanics and gameplay were fun, but that's about it.

Do friends want to play fun arcade game?

It's honestly a 7/10 platformer that was hindered by being shit at launch. There were several issues, like the camera, unskippable dialogue noises (and the inability to change their volume), the hub was so massive that they had to put signs in it to point to the next world.
They fixed all this stuff in a patch but it can't fix the somewhat poor level design and the the excess amount of pagies.

Everything else though is pretty great, it's banjo-kazooie in everything but the name. If levels were designed well it'd probably be a 9/10.

What's wrong with the camera?

At launch the camera got stuck on a lot of things and required constant adjustment. They fixed it with a patch, but it took them like 2 months to release said patch iirc

it's a game made by a bunch of people who don't even understand why kazooie was good
