No. the patrician hotbar order is sword-pickaxe-axe-shovel

It makes for aesthetic walking paths and you always need flint for arrows. Dirt is a much more useless and annoying block.

I would think when digging underground that the priority of the axe would be lessened and necessitate a shift in its placement.

I like gravel, out of all things to mine, gravel is what I spend the most time looking for. I use it for all my railtracks, so I need a lot.

oh shit I forgot about that, I wonder what they're going to break next in the new update.

sword - bow - fortune/silk pickaxe - axe/shovel - blocks - ender chest - torches - food
then either crossbow, water bucket, map or shield in off hand (depends on the context)

Hmm I looked it up, I don't know if I've done anything wrong, I just use gravel. Would be cheating to use cobblestone or dirt anyway.
Not sure what to think. It has some history.

Okay, to explain my rules:

I have 3 wide and 3 deep with gravel, but I can make it shallower if there's something solid beneath, like stone or cobblestone. That means that if I'm making single track, each piece of rail will usually require 9 gravel.

If I look at it historically, in my first world, I had as a rule to always build on stone, which meant that I was required to dig down to stone and fill with cobblestone to build a house. The same applied to rail tracks, I filled all the way from stone and up. Back then, I had two reasons for using gravel, both that I'd seen it in real life, and that I wanted to prevent grass because it was during a version where animals constantly spawned on grass. That also contributed to my tendency to build it a bit higher than the surroundings, so the animals wouldn't jump up on the tracks, but I've also seen it built higher in real life.

When I started my current world, I had realized that the requirement to build down to stone was silly, so I changed it to only require a bit of cobblestone beneath houses, and shallower gravel for rail tracks.
It could be that I've done wrong, but it could also be a result of my history.

I have very few locations, but if I need to fill in a fourth layer in height, I'll use cobblestone for the lowest layer. And I try to avoid making all three layers of gravel visible from the side, that's only an exception done when I have to for short stretches.

I have as a rule that I MUST have gravel below rail, but I made one exception, I decided to allow iron blocks instead because I needed it to get beneath the waterway roof.

Attached: Rail without gravel.jpg (1908x968, 898K)

>he uses a sword instead of just an iron axe
dumbass. Unless it's fully enchanted diamond sword with looting and sharpness/smite V I don't want to fucking see that shit.

Since I've already sperged out about my rails, let me show off how much I've built, I'm really proud of it. I've drawn over the tracks with red so it's easier to see.

By the way double track also only requires 3 wide. The reason I chose 3 wide as standard in the first place was so two could meet without interacting by being too close.

At least gravel has SOME use. Flint can be used for arrows or flint and steel. These fuckers on the other hand have literally ZERO use whatsoever. They don't do anything. They're not even good aesthetic blocks. They only exist to clutter my inventory and make me want to kill myself.

Swords are for idiots. You can just use an axe for combat and save a hotbar slot

Can you get Looting and Sharpness on an axe?

Is there a point for the F key slot besides shields?

you can put sharpness but imo its better to put smite on it if you have a sharpness sword, dont think you can put looting on it

Flatten an island, beach, or a desert hill, you'll have tons of sand and a nice place to build.

*ruins your game*

Gravel is the predecessor to Grass Pathes. And is sometimes still preferable.

I think I found the guy that burnt down KyoAni

I have this weird thing where the grinding of dry rocks sounds unusually nice (it borders on pleasurable,) and I'm not sure why.

Do axes provide any sort of advantage?
They cost more resources to craft.

Does it really take a farm for you to enchant your gear? In the same time it take you to build a farm, you could have grinded for it. I feel like I always end up with more xp than I need for my gear

One less tool, more damage due to slower attack speed, but doesn't enchant properly. It's better early and mid game

>Start up minecraft
>Look at mountain side.
>See diorite.
>Close the game.

Attached: 1562597260277.png (678x846, 920K)

I already got 3 double chests full of them.
I want to get perfect enchantments on everything. It's especially hard on a sword because you need to get lucky and get multiple top tier enchants so you don't get fucked by the Prior work penalty. But farms are much better if you need a lot XP. Basic Zombie/Skeleton traps are super easy to set up.

Because is grainy and gets everywhere.

I love /n/egroes, they really are a boardwide treasure.

based train autist

>farms are much better if you need a lot XP
True enough, but I tend to limit myself. Having the best possible enchants on everything is just a hassle, farm or no. Especially when it inevitably gets too expensive to repair and you have to redo it from scratch. I basically only max out my sword and pickaxe

based as fuck

Polished Diorite is a pretty nice looking building block, user. Adding color to a building is one of the core parts of making it look good

Sword - Pickaxe - Shovel - Axe

>more damage due to slower attack speed
That's incorrect.
Swords do more damage, and axes deteriorate more due to incorrect use.

Axe - Shovel - Sword - Pickaxe

I want my sword and pickaxe to be closer to the rest of my items, like my torches or trash blocks to throw down

Why would I want my primary tools further away from the rest of my inventory?

Attached: 1560229868584.jpg (832x1000, 47K)

More damage per hit, but the DPS might very well be lower. Iron sword is 6, iron axe is 9. I care more about the damage than the attack speed

Not him, but its easier to just fish up a few enchanted bows (including 1 infinity) and merge them at a forge. You skip out completely on needing to farm them. I don't think I ever crafted an arrow for nearly a decade.

Build a different farm and afk there.

plenty of choices.

By building an Enderman farm that gets you a thousand times more exp in the same amount of time.

You can just use mending though no?
It all boils down to the same thing in the end.
I haven't reached the end yet though.

If you’re trying to actually get good enchantments, you need a farm

who the fucks keeps their axe in the inventory you only need it from time to time to get wood and once use gives you plenty of wood, the rest of the time it rest in the chest

because mining gravel is tedious

Mending is a fucking pain in the ass to get. I set up an AFK fishing farm, and it still took me like 12 hours to get 2 books with mending, and I think that's still the most effective way to get it

Turns out you're right.
Also, stone axes have a damage of 9 per hit.

Does anybody have a realm I can join?
I have a switch

IMPORTANCE TIERLIST
CROSSBOW > BOW > SWORD > PICK > SHOVEL > AXE > FLINT&STEEL > POWERGAP > HOE

>CROSSBOW/BOW/SWORD
Used for combat. The bow is better since it's long-ranged, and the crossbow is a straight upgrade since you can store shots. The sword is useful early-game and also for the sweep attack.
>PICK/SHOVEL/AXE
Most of the time you're not in combat you'll be mining, and the pickaxe is built for that. The shovel is used to dig up the occasional dirt or gravel chunk, and the axe is rarely used outside of early game treepunching.
>FLINT&STEEL
Lets you make fire. Useful for a multitude of things.
>HOE
Useful for farming and that's it.

read the thread, you can convert a villager and reroll it until it has mending

Chickens are easier/faster to farm than those idlers.

Nah you can get it faster via village trades. It's boring to have to place and destroy Lecterns for half an hour but after you get it as a trade you basically have a limitless supply for 10-38 emeralds a piece which is dirt cheap.

You're supposed to shovel it.

Doesn't the bow do way more damage per shot though?

once my tendonitis eases up i am gonna play minecraft.

wish me speedheal bros...

Really miss this fucker.

Sword, Pickaxe, Shovel, Axe you dummy

For me it's
[ Cobblestone / Pickaxe / Torches / Sword / Bow / ... / ... / Clock / Food ]

For me it's
Sword - Shovel - Axe - Pickaxe

just polish your diorite or that sweet marble aesthetic.

>clock
do you spend all your time underground or something

>could have gotten an interesting deep sea mob
>instead we get phantom

>long tongue for ensnaring players and drag them under the water
Drwoned zombie :^^^^^)

Yeah I enjoy just kinda zoning out and mining or doing stuff like flattening or covering terrain.

Beds ruin the game.

These things should spawn if you sleep too much instead of if you avoid sleeping.

>thread about minecraft is the best Yea Forums thread currently
Feels comfy bros

Why couldn't they just implement all 3? How fucking hard is it to make 3 enemies, especially with minecraft's simplistic visuals and AI?
They're the least efficient dev team of all time, 10 years of updates with nothing to show for it

What's that big dome on the left side of the image?

>spawns in a tiny space under your build

I mean what’s it gonna take? Also I have a realm that I play with my nieces and nephew but I want a realm where I can be alone if that makes sense

>Not using dye-able cement
I bet your towns look like shit copied from a garbage, low effort fantasy story.

Villagers, mate. 16 sticks gives you an emerald. And an emerald gets you 16 arrows.

Why do you have a space under your bed in the first place?

Besides the dog and cat, what happened to the cross eyed and ""derpy"" style for the animals in the game? Most of the new ones seem to have straight eyes, not a complaint just wondering

Dr. Gravel
I'm steve

I remember the cats when they first appeared and they were fucking useless, are they still uselss now?

I just collect my farm manually

They scare away creepers and phantoms, so they are like a creeper shield

the foxes have them

Attached: minecraft fox.png (480x340, 20K)

Best post 2019

they scare away creepers and phantoms, and when wake up from bed in the morning with a cat beside you, they'll give you a "gift" ranging from things like feathers to things like phantom membranes

Umm
You don’t get to bring hoes...

>not using 9 crossbows in quickslots to do the quickest kills

I like the derpy eyes, it (was?) a good way to visually separate docile farm animals from predators like wolves and ocelots.

Nice to have on a fishing pier or AFK spot, and you can make cool creeper farms with them.

Wtf
I love cats now?!!
How can wolffags ever recover?

I just tried to log in recently (Haven't played since January) and was told my old account from 2011 was migrated, but it's not under my email. I have my old transaction ID from when I first purchased the game, so I'm hoping they can recover it.

Even if they can't, I guess I'll just use a pirated MC Launcher, no big loss anyway.

Yeah that's what they were supposed to do back then too, but they were so glitchy at their job that rather than scare away creepers, most of the time the creeper would just get closer to them and explode, that and when you were to ordem they to stay foot at home, they would randomly appear next to you when you were mining kilometers away from the place you left him. The very first update that had cats with it, was also the last time I used cats.

bdcraft is always nice.

>want to build a mountain base out of quartz
>hate mining in the nether

Attached: 1523343903305.jpg (250x243, 6K)

if you aren't picking up quartz with a silk touch pick then breaking them with a fortune 3 you keep at home, you're doing it wrong

Attached: 2014-02-21_23.50.28.png (1600x848, 927K)

If you stare at the wolf as if it had 2x2 pixels for each eyes it looks like the wolf is concerned.
And the chicken's eyes aren't just black beads, but are two normal animal eyes pushed together.

Why not just take the fortune pickaxe to the nether and save your silk touch's durability?

>he doesn't have an automatic mob farm

you can carry more quartz "ore" than the stacks of quartz they produce
saves trips

A farm makes it easy to get renewable enchantments for your equipment, so I prefer to have one eventually. It's true if you're just looking to enchant a level 30 diamond pickaxe, you can usually do so by the time you build an enchanting table, but I usually play long enough to go through multiple diamond picks, not to mention I also want enchantments for my armor and weapons.

>not smelting quartz into smooth quartz
what are you doing

I played this game two years ago. Started the game, got lost, travelled the sea, found an island, and geneocided all the animals there. Then I got bored and deleted it.
From this thread, apparently you can craft and build things in this game?

Well it helps to not be retarded

Epic story bro, it's so funny, original and legitimate. Lmao!

when did they add that?

it's the best way of automated traveling

unironically soulless building
massive mansion dominating a tiny island like you're the fucking barclay brothers

it doesn't have to be efficient, I learned redstone all on my own and the satisfaction comes from the fact that I automated a system MY way instead of soullessly copying someone else's system

Why does the crafting discriminate against people on the lower-end of the intelligence spectrum?

Thanks, man.

This. A light house would make it perfect.

Why no hoe?

Pulverizer in Thermal Expansion mod does just that.

Everyone complains about phantoms and how annoying they are when you can just take a bed with you and sleep.

The real niggers are the FUCKING TRIDENT CUNTS. they do so much damage AND they are underwater which makes them pretty much immune to arrows. They fuck you up even while you are on land, and they show up at the worst moments every god damn time. I fucking hate them so god damn much it makes me want to genocide the ocean with sponges.

You've never had a mob farm before have you. Especially late game enderman farms, having a xp farm is a godsend for getting perfect gear. Enchanting with books is expensive, but xp grinders give you more xp than you could ever need AND provide a quick and easy way to repair your tools (if you aren't using mending on everything you are doong ot wrong).

This is not even mentioning the materials you can get. A good skele or general mob farm can provide infinite arrows and more importantly infinite bone meal which can be used in auto tree farma and nano farms for tons of wood and crops. Blaze farms provide an near unlimited fuel source (tho bamboo is better and is actually unlimited). Creeper farms provide gunpower for use with rockets and tnt.

Mob farms in general are amazing and definitely worth the effort as they save you so much time in the long run. I cant imagine going out hunting creepers for gunpower every time I run out of rockets for my elytra or going out for hours killing mobs to repair my gear. Its just silly.

I tried to plant jungle inside. A bit inspired by the domes in Netherstorm, I guess. Still unfinished, only planted a few trees and haven't removed all the snow yet. May want to try the concept again later too, maybe a place greater distance from my other stuff, or under the ocean perhaps.

>I've never noticed the white between its eyes
Yeah, it's strange once you see it.
I wonder if there's a name for the phenomenon of seeing things differently.

BASED

I feel too retarded to run a server. If realms works does that mean I don't need to fuck around with port forwarding or is that still an issue?

what if i dont want flint, RETARD?

Realms is designed for brainlets such as yourself.

sword-pickaxe-shovel-axe

it's clearly sword-ranged weapon-pickaxe-axe/shovel as needed

I still don't feel like paying for it. Do mods at least work?

why else would you mine gravel

someone posted this last thread, anyone know what the texture pack is?

Attached: 1564153109519.jpg (1920x1017, 447K)

I decided to take a picture of what I got, and I guess I should say thanks for that because the last time I played minecraft I died in lava and haven't opened the game in weeks.

I play that too, but I switch a bit between them, and minecraft is more relaxing so it's good to play while watching youtube for example.

Attached: Minecraft dome.png (1856x948, 1.16M)

I for once found a really cool world and might actually play this game longer than two weeks. It's small islands everywhere and I've yet discovered a mainland. found an extremely comfy island with everything I could possibly need

Attached: island.png (1920x1017, 2.04M)

to mine gravel, brainlet

but... why mine gravel??

TO mine gravel, how retarded do you have to be

I know Railcraft still exists, but is it still the go-to for train based autism? I always want to a build a railway, but playing solo I never feel like I have a reason to.

;_;

Is it this one?
If so it's mizuno 16 craft. Quite popular. You could have googles the most popular resource packs.

>tfw you will never find out about ASMR for the first time ever again
I envy you, man.

>obsidian is sewer tiles
???

looks like it, thanks

I have a massive love for digging down to Y=11 and finding a cave system where I proceed to build roadways, underground farms, "defenses" like fake pit traps and spikes at locations I haven't built up/torched out yet, eventually going back and building up rooms, structures, etc. until I have a really nice underground city. The last structure I build is usually a tower like structure that has a railway leading up from the ground to the surface, where I build a large fortress-railway hub to connect other distant locales.

Building on naturally generated cave systems is great, especially if you get some good ones that generate parallel to where lava spawns so you have nice lava lakes illuminating various places.

>sewer tiles
???

I don't mine gravel, but I do 'mined' my own business.
Now I'm bankrupt.

I fucking hate the whispering and smacking sounds everybody seems to be doing these days. Not that I listen to any asmr anyways but still, ads have appeared on tv and radio where they talk like in the asmrs to sell their shit to millenials

>Soulless
Wake me up when people learn how to use ray tracing to make fiction stuff look good instead of just "lol real life"ing my video game escapism

I fucking hate most modern ASMR videos.
When ASMR wasn't that well known, virtually all video's were about the sounds and trying to trigger ASMR.
Nowadays most "ASMR" videos are female patreonwhores with their tits half out, trying to get lonely people to watch their videos.
And fuck eating sounds. I suffer from misophonia and that shit triggers me in a very bad way.

Right house is really easy to do desu, you just need a texture pack.

sword - pickaxe - POWER GAP - food - torch

It's sword, pickaxe, shovel, axe.

started a world the other day on 1.12 with a few "vanilla-esque" mods.
it's been fun.

is mojang so obsessed with erasing notch that they're completely replacing textures with shittier versions?

does the rail duplication glitch still work?

zoomers i swear...

Nah, the reason why they're replacing the textures is so they can have an excuse for doing jack shit.

Macerator from IC2 you fucking dingus

Heal sooner rather then later user

It's really bad, too. I don't know why they exaggerated shit so much like in the gif that guy posted. Grisaia has its silly moments, but it's not THAT silly.

Gravel, huh?

The bird poop one is cancer no matter what.

My friend built that house on the right from a blueprint, it has like no space at all in it but it is aesthetic.

>not placing 1 block in front of you to block the explotion
Shiggy diggy

Sword, Pick, Axe, Shovel

Do they even use that voice clip anymore? I remember hostile mobs used to use it as well

Sword - Torches - Pickaxe - Bow - Shovel/Axe - Free - Free - Cobblestone or any cheap building block, Steaks

looks nice, but y tho

pickaxe sword shovel axe

wait it's the exact same, cool

just kill the ender dragon. jesus man.

Actually based

>3 end cities and no elytra
wtf did they change it from spawning in that flying boat?

A bit new to Minecraft and have a big question. How do you guys wander out without getting lost? I tried setting a smoke signal by my house and it would dissipate if I go too far. I made a map but it would only show a part of the area. It seems the only way I can get back is killing myself and spawning back on my bed.

press F3 and take a screenshot of your home's coordinates, it's gay but it's the best option there is

you can make maps bigger to show more area if you hadn't done that already
place the map in the center of a crafting table and surround it with more paper, you can do this three or four times to zoom the map out.

Then what? Games over and I have nothing else to do.

Placing torches on one side of blocks is a good way to recall direction like moss on a rock.
Use the sun to determine the direction you are facing.

I come back to Minecraft every 3 years or so for IndustrialCraft and BuildCraft, Flint is pretty important there.

fuck you
i'm a geologist and i will never unhear this from now on

But there's no goal to strive to after I kill it. What am I getting ender pearls and XP for when I already beat the game?

>he doesnt use an axe as a melee weapon

>gravel bad
what is concrete main ingredient ?

Attached: delet this.png (766x610, 144K)

how the fuck is that a goal to strive for, it's fucking easy and requires barely any preparation. if that's what you think the goal of the game is you're retarded

Pleb

Sword-pickaxe-shovel-axe
You use the shovel more then the axe, the axe is literally for just wood.

What is the goal then? After I beat the Dragon and max out my gear there isn't any progression left to do.

the compass is dogshit because it only points to original spawn point, not your house

building, if you want progression play terraria because minecraft's progression is boring as hell

Guys my villagers are freaking me out right now.
I just beat a raid and my villagers no longer move on their own. They just stood, sometimes crowded, on top of their beds without actually sleeping in them, even through the night. If I pushed one of them away or break the bed they were on they'd just run to another bed. I broke all the beds in the village and now they're just standing, individually, where the beds used to be, staring at the walls. If I place a bed back they all rush over and swarm it, but still refuse to sleep. What do I do?

Attached: 1459960205741.jpg (680x774, 88K)

Watch the skies, traveler.

Attached: 1532824895211.jpg (460x416, 14K)

purge them, there is clearly some form of demonic influence in your village

I have over 1000 hours in minecraft. I've never built anything noteworthy during my entire time playing and I've never made a single redstone contraption. Don't worry about what your friends are making and play it however way you want.

I'm always exploring caves and filling my inventory with tons of shit because just exploring the world is the most fun thing for me to do. I don't care if I'll never use half of the items I find, because I know my friends will use it instead.

I have 1k hours in terraria and am burnt out as fuck. I'm just dragging out the play through out for no reason at this point. I should just try to end it and look int some mods.

>not holding a torch in your off hand and mining that first gravel block with a shovel in your main hand

I really hate how they always use these postmodern minimalistic houses and buildings to show off shaders.

My map is like that too
>fucking ocean everywhere
>most land is small turd nuggets instead of a solid mainland
It pisses me off because I want to use horses and see cool terrain instead of a shitty boat all the time
