Yeah Wii is fucking garbage, it really is the definition of soulless. It's only fun when playing with friends, which to be fair it is really fun when playing with friends.
2 sucks even more though. Not as soulless as Wii but jumped the shark hard and has boring levels outside DLC.
U actually brought the series back a bit with fun levels and nicer aesthetics but by then the damage had been done

The DS and Wii as a whole are indirectly responsible for the amount of soullessness we see today because they brought in the normies. Hell, the DS was basically an exact prototype of modern mobile games. This is why I scoff at people who claim that Nintendo are the only ones left with soul.
