But.. but m-muh combat is bad!

>but.. but m-muh combat is bad!
Fuck off. Give me a fucking original opinion about this game for once.
I swear to God, I've seen literally the exact same 5 or 6 things since the game came out.
>Its "okay" or "decent," it "does what it needs to as a game."
>it's somehow "not an rpg"
>completely subjective bullshit like "the cutscenes are boring."
>whining about a nonexistent 2014 downgrade
>somehow going EVEN MORE contrarian and claiming the first 2 were better when they're all extremely similar
And finally,
>the same HILARIOUS greentext meme that gets posted in every single thread
For the love of fuck, come up with an original opinion.

Attached: 8d5f890f3135448a594155fa943e4be9bc69ef0d.jpg (616x353, 41K)

Additionally: my main thing about the combat complaints is that statement is used with no further explanation to shit on an entire like 100+ hour game

boring.

It’s actually the greatest game of all times and don’t let contrarians spoil your view

It’s lkterally the greatest. It has a DECEN combat, but it’s perfect on all the other sides:
>great story
>GREAT dlc’s
>superb writing and dialogue
>superb side quests
>amazing and huge map
>fucking perfect soundtrack
>awesome characters with depth
>great graphics

This game literally does everything right, the best, and that’s why it’s the greatest game of all time. It’s thenfull package

It's not an rpg though.

"detective" vision is a boring and unoriginal mechanic that made me not like it

That's usually what good games, usually ones that focus on pandering towards a specific experience, goes through on Yea Forums nearly all the time. Numerous prime quality threads until it gets to a point where we've talked about everything surrounding the game.
Don't get upset over someone having a different opinion. Get upset over the fact that good video games are abused to hell and back for the sake of shitposting just BECAUSE they're good and BECAUSE it's GUARANTEED to piss SOMEONE off.
Also, by the way, that series isn't nearly as abused as nearly every other good or decent game out there.
Not only are you bitching in a way but you're also taking the treatment of that game here for granted.

Attached: 1554711792522.jpg (600x600, 65K)

why does it matter if my opinion is original?
the combat gets boring after a few hours, and it's pretty much the only thing you do in the game besides picking dialogue options.
almost all skills boil down to dealing more damage; there is only one skill that has an effect outside of combat.

It's not for n to play

The writing is bad as well.

Worse than the second game which is worse than the first game. A series that just continues to get worse with each entry.

There is no reason to discuss anything popular with Yea Forums, because Yea Forums believes that popular equals bad.

Worst combat to date. Suck my nut, tranny.

I got bored after an hour or two, been too long since I played 2, couldn't get into the story, which leaves very little else to care for.

controls like ass
terrible menus and convoluted systems like for crafting and RPG upgrades
running around a big map to tick off objectives which are just opening opening a trash chest or something
magic detective vision so those segments just play themselves and feel patronizing as fuck
any potentially interesting in immersive experience ends up incredibly underwhelming, an early sidequest has you learning about the lore of this really creepy sounding witch, but ends up walking around in detective vision for a bit then killing a trash mob in a copypaste cave.

i think the game is trash, but i dont know why that lodges me in your domepiece rent free. get over it and shut the fuck up.

Mediocre movie

It's boring and shit.
>combat is even more of a dodge button simulator
>spells (signs) are mediocre and lack the oomph because they want to force you into melee playstyle no matter what
>loot is unbelievably fucking boring (worthless minor loot every 2 steps that you want to pick up but you never go "ooh I found something nice"
>quests just make you follow the compass or spider sense

They made it open-world but then railroaded it with levels.

This. Seems more like a board issue than a Witcher 3 one. EDF5 had daily threads in the weeks after release that were huge circle-jerks that shat on anyone who dared say such outrageous stuff like "4.1 was better" or "it's not a great sequel/worth $40". Had EDF been a major release with widespread approval (ie. making the reddit front page) it would have been like every Witcher thread.
What's funnier is the people taking the biggest shats on the Witcher are the ones who have played the most. How they could play for so long when the game has broken combat/boring story/stupid characters/shit lore tells you everything.

All the hate comes from
1. Soulsbourne babies because Witcher 3 snatched all the Goty awards from it.
2. Bethesdadrones that cannot cope with the fact how shitty the last 3 games were.

Boring combat is an entirely valid critique when the game is 100 hours long and the combat is non optional.

>Hold down batman vision and follow the obvious footpath
>slaughter nekkers in seconds because igni is so op
>watch a few minutes of shot-reverse shot cutscenes

10/10

What makes a game an rpg?

Attached: 1563907382904.jpg (1080x1080, 82K)

This is valid complaint. They shloudn't include it at all or make it more limited.

>no hot males or beastmen to romance
>cannot play as a dagger-wielding assassin

My originsl opinion is that the game is good but has problems both gameplay-wise and story-wise. I like it a lot, but like assassin of kings more

Based

The ability to choose your role in the world and party if applicable and design the strengths and weaknesses of your character through stat points representing your psycho-physical capabilities.

What can i say about this game.'
Combat is not best but is not horrible (Still satysfying and is not bullshit like for example gothic 3).
Game gives you many posibilities when you are bulding Geralt (Especially if you do transformation quest on blood and wine content and you get into NEW GAME +), you have many posobilities to mix your set bonus, decoctions, talents, mutations, etc.

Audiovisual aspect of this game is wonderful, the pure slavic feast for your eyes and ears.

Story, characters, plot and climate is the best what game offers. The choosing options and consequences of your decisions really change aspect of this game and consequences of your decisions will meet you even in long future. Plot is interesting not even in main quests but also in sub-quests.
You can find characters what are lovely and characters you will hate also you will find characters you will hate when you meet it for first time but then you will find reasons that this character doesent deserve hate ETC. ETC.
Also trolls are based.

Witcher vision is controversial but in my opinion its role is to show us that Geralt is really a grandmaster of witcher-craft and has fuckton of knowledge about monsters. But anyway it needed to have better work around it.

In conclusion if you are looking for good game experience, you should definitely play all 3 witcher games. You will have good time.

The most important thing i have to mention is that CD-PROJECT-RED politics are definitely consumer friendly no microtransactions, DLC are not just parts what were supposed to be in main game but actually these are legit EXPANSIONS for the ALREADY FULL GAME.

Attached: 213333.jpg (1280x720, 137K)

It's good. Drags on too long near the end. Also all the tiddies in the game look too stiff, I get that it was a team of polish noobs but they could learn a thing or two from the Japanese and their lewd physics

Seriously though the combat is trash

>No hot males
But Gaunter O Dim, Geralt and Bloody baron are in this Game so your argument is invalid.

>cannot play as a dagger-wielding assassin
This only panders to Edgy emo teenagers, normal people will be more happy to play as CHAD witcher.

>no hot males or beastmen to romance
>cannot play as a dagger-wielding assassin

Demonstrates better than anything else why people who play weeby brooding assassin characters are mincing limp wristed poo pirates

Attached: 1529323142727.jpg (228x246, 16K)

>witcher vision used to show Geralt as a master Witcher
I think that's fair. Media is often critised for telling not showing, yet the witcher does the same and is still blasted.
Its a double edged sword in many ways, but if it wasn't in the game, you'd find the same people complaining that it breaks the lore and that some missions can only be beaten with external guides.

Thank you, user. Excellent post.

>The ability to choose your role in the world
Wait are you telling me that Planescape:Torment is not an RPG since you can't choose to be anyone other than the nameless one? Wait are you telling me that Baldur's Gate 2 is not an RPG since you can't be anyone other than Bhaal's spawn? Now answer to me this, are you retarded? I am genuinely curious.

some of the best games ever have trash combat

Attached: The-Elder-Scrolls-III-Morrowind-mod.png (1920x1080, 2.42M)

Doesn't count. Only works when talking about the Witcher 3.
Naturally they'd have to double down on how bad the graphics/soundtrack are.

ITT:
>it's okay but flawed
>REEEEEEEEE FAKE OPINION IT'S GOTYAYY

>1 remotely similar to 2
If anything 2 is similar to 3 except for the clunky combat system.

Retard

>Gothic 3 combat
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHAAAAAA
anyway good post

The combat isn't one of the problems with Morrowind, though.

wide appeal is a sign of mediocrity

Attached: 311112.jpg (1147x825, 118K)

>slash with sword
>miss
>shoot fireball
>miss
>fire off 5 arrows
>miss
>miss
>miss
>miss
>hit
>See, it isn't that bad!

fuck off retard

You just shot your own foot.

>my guy is weak at the start of the game what the FUCK!!!!

It's decent, but the combat is bad. Cutscenes can be a bit boring. I preferred the graphics before the downgrade. It's not really an RPG, the first two were much better in that regard.

>praise geraldo le rivera!

Excellent attempt, but I was talking about the "whistles for magic horse" one.

If you're complaining about combat, just install the enchanced edition combat mod then come back crying that it's too hard

When i started playing it all I saw were positive threads about it
Now it's all angry shitposting towards it
What happened?

>criticism is given mixed with shitposting
>fuck you faggots, give me actual valid criticism
>actual valid criticism is given
>ignored
>a week later
>fuck you faggots, give me actual valid criticism
>repeat
Fucking kill yourself, every fucking time with this shit.

>why does people agree on the bad aspects of this game? that doens't make any sense, they should all be giving completely diferent complaints
Fuck off with your non-arguments.

>character progression is your player character gets luckier at rolling hypothetical dice
BRAVO TODD

The open world is too empty but filled with little question marks to make you feel like there's stuff to do. Swimming is terrible. Boats are terrible.

it's because the shills ran out of contract after cd projekt had secured the sales. now it's just the actual opinions being voiced.

>bro just ignore the shit combat and skyrim tier witcher vision shit
>both make up 85% of the game
>story isn't even interesting anyways
yeah I'm not trudging through that slog of shit to see the 1 or 2 decent quests in the game

Lol try again

It's not anime waifu simulator or something to do with Smash. So Yea Forums automatically hates it.

I like the game ^^

>bro just turn on your witcher vision so the quest autoruns you to the even jankier batman combat segment and fetch this item
>now do it 200 more times
nah, it's shit. even gothic has better combat

You're hearing the same opinions over and over because they are correct.

I think its a great game. romance options suck, though. thats a personal preference however

>It's not anime waifu simulator
It's literally an old ugly hag dating simulator though.

Geralt controls like shit

The combat is fucking great. Compared to BotW, AC, Skyrim, HZD or any other open world game the combat is fantastic.

so japan has never made an rpg then?

its a ROLL playing game you have to roll dice for it to be a RPG, dumb thots

Witcher is a ROLL playing game because you're constantly rolling on the floor.

fucking savage retort how will any ever recover

ok ok you have me there it is an RPG you literally roll cant refute than solid arguement well struck

Why are there still thread about this old average game ?

Attached: 1557399688754.jpg (229x250, 8K)

What's with all the Witcher threads lately is there something new coming out?

Its in your comments except all the words are reversed its about a NEW GREAT GAME

>>completely subjective bullshit like "the cutscenes are boring."
yeah well unless cutscenes are getting universal praise from the right kind of people and include lots of comments about how they are quick, well-paced scenes that don't interrupt the gameplay, I'm just going to assume they are bad. It's a safe assumption since almost all videogame cutscenes are awful.

andrew sackowski released a book and all the tards are playing/reading through the entire series again for the seventh hundredth time

It'll be because of the upcoming Netflix series.

Making Chrono trigger/the entire Final fantasy games/almost all JRPG's not RPG's.

Of course you wont reply back to and to because you just got owned tranny. Go dilate somewhere else Todd Howard.

Attached: Smug 002.jpg (370x290, 31K)

Sorry dude combat is really important to me. I also think the quest design is amazing when it's good and fucking awful when it's not.

It looks fine, if bland. Combat is passable, if bland. The story did nothing for me and the side quests were all either basic fetch quests or listen to rando, listen to monster, pick a side but lol the one with the better story is bad guy. Exploration was a goddamn chore. Leveling was mostly about new clothes. Too many stats especially since most were pointless, even moreso because everyone plays using flips and the same two skills.

It's a 4 masquerading as a 8 because gruff white guy slav saying fuck and having sex makes a game great. If it didn't have tits this would be called cinematic trash. Terrible game from a terrible series.

>like 100+ hour game
Length of a game does not make combat better in fact if the combat is bad it just means the game will waste a lot more of your time.
Why is Witcher 3 worth playing, gameplay-wise?

>good thing is good
>bad thing is bad

Thanks for your contribution

shut the fuck up faggot you have no idea what an RPG is.

Attached: tomb-of-horrors6.png (430x683, 373K)

>Game gives you many posibilities when you are bulding Geralt (Especially if you do transformation quest on blood and wine content and you get into NEW GAME +), you have many posobilities to mix your set bonus, decoctions, talents, mutations, etc
All that shit is endgame material.

All the interesting talents, like the one that made the crossbow or bombs decent are all endgame material. So they wanted you to play a shitty unfun game for 30 hours to get the interesting skills to make it fun.

Fuck that.

Masterpiece tier audio and visuals. Excellent storytelling, quests, aesthetic design, character design. Shitloads of monsters to fight and tons of options for doing so. Playing with the hud off is a transcendental experience.

thats how good a game it is, it still gets threads 5 years after release. and contrarians are seething

lol if you think mr "fly nuls half my gimmicky traps" dungeon is a good example, you are very wrong buddy

Of course jrpgs aren't actual rpgs, they're barely games.

it doesnt matter anymore, the legacy, the world, the characters are all ruined

Attached: Witcher_showrunners.jpg (700x845, 121K)

Just one example.
"Ability to choose your role in the world" is a brainlet-tier description and has been since the inception of the genre.

Attached: Dragons-of-Despair.jpg (1199x1212, 340K)

Attached: Blackarmordick.jpg (1200x551, 120K)

they are though. They're simplified and streamlined but they are RPGs and if you don't understand it's because you don't sufficiently understand RPGs or their history.

i'm talking specifically about the Tomb of Horros buddy.
Never I said anything about D&D don't being pure rpg (that i play for almost 20years)
Learn to read.

No you're changing the subject retard. You said:
>The ability to choose your role in the world and party if applicable and design the strengths and weaknesses of your character through stat points representing your psycho-physical capabilities.
But this is objectively retarded because most of what an RPG is, is the actual adventuring and dealing with obstacles and dangers in the world, of which Tomb of Horrors is but a single example.
Dumbasses like you who think that character creation and open-endedness is the ONLY relevant feature of an RPG really fucking piss me off. I hate how dumb you are and how you ignore almost everything that makes an RPG what it is to dwell on the one thing you do mostly before you even start really playing.

I actually genuinelly like TW series, every single one of them, but:
>somehow going EVEN MORE contrarian and claiming the first 2 were better when they're all extremely similar
They ABSOLUTELY aren't. Which is not a bad thing. I actually like how each game does its own thing: each has very different strenghts and weaknesses.
The first one is complete JANK but has the best atmosphere and some of the best locations. Plus the dialogues and quest structure is by far most interesting.
Second is very claustrophobic and arguably most unpolished of the series, but it makes up for it by best characters and best main plot.
Third is most polished, second only to the first game in terms of atmosphere, but the main story is garbage and pacing is off.

As for complaints about the third one: while I don't think any of the issues are gamebreaking, there are certainly weak elements. Ignoring the relative clusterfuck of a main story (compared to other TW games, not to average RPG's):

The combat is fine, but DESPERATELY lacks variety. It's a combat system designed for 20 hours long game, stretched over 100+ hours of the main campaign. The main culprit is lack of enemy patterns.
The world is extremely well designed, but loot distribution and progression is fucking AWFUL, and removes a lot of the mechanical reward from exploration.
A lot of mechancis have been dumbed down to make the game more accessible, but also lose some of the unique flare and immersion in the process. Namely, witcher-vision and alchemy.

Overal, it's about as good as you can expect an AAA game get. It's clear that a lot of people cared a lot, it's beautiful and charming in a way most similar-budgeted titels aren't: but mechanically and in terms of main story, it ends up being restricted by it's massive budget and related need for wide appeal in the end.

I just pinched you about Tomb of Horrors because my group finished it last year and it was quite dissapoiting

I don't see any gameplay related things is that post. Even MGS, a literal movie game got great gameplay

love how true all of this is and how shitcher fags can never refute it. my roommate is a shitcher fan and i showes him this when we were drinking and he got really mad lmao

Fair enough, sorry for the mistake and you're right about ToH being gimmicky

Sure you did. Keep patting yourself on the back for reposting an incredibly old and boring copy pasta, buddy.

I can never not laugh at this

>Making Chrono trigger/the entire Final fantasy games/almost all JRPG's not RPG's.
You mean something people on Yea Forums have been saying for over a fucking decade?

>getting mad
fuck off, I love witcher and the pasta is funny as hell

>bad combat meme
There are skillsets with unlockable moves, 5 combat signs with unlockable moves, potions, bombs, and if you have blood and wine you get mutations leading to dozens more moves and abilities. You'll need to use them all if you play on the higher difficulties. Weakest meme argument against this game

this arguement can be said for all open world games in existence only the witcher comes out looking better on the other side, this only hold weight in a vacuum and even so it's very weak copypasta that retards believe in to signal and shout out any intelligent discussion end of story

It may or may not be accurate, but commenting on a structure that works and is fun doesn't invalidate it. In fact, the opposite is true. If I can play for 100 hours and this structure is recycled for about 10 minutes every two hours of game, and they find ways to mix it up, how is this criticism even valid?

you're schizophrenic

he was looking for something so i told him to turn on witcher vision lol

>it doesn't count it doesn't count IT DOESN'T COUNT
Ok. Ignoring the combat (which is bad and constitutes a large chunk of the gameplay loop), the world is empty and boring to explore for the most part, generic NPCs may as well be statics and detract from realism, the loot is all random and useless except for Witcher gear which you will use for entire game, the detective vision concept is poorly implemented and quests in general hold your hand more than I personally enjoy leading the game to feel formulaic and devoid of challenge. Geralt/Roaches controls were incredibly awkward before they added alternative movement, people also forget that on release the game was a fucking mess with bugs everywhere, I very rarely criticize games for this shit but the Witcher 3 was buggy as FUCK before they patched it 50 times.

For such a long game, the gameplay loop was also incredibly repetitive. You did the same shit for like 100 hours, with nothing but gwent to break it up. The greentext is funny because it's accurate and can applied to almost every fucking quest in the entire game, it's all the same shit over and over.

It's a great game with a great narrative, one of my favourites of all time but don't pretend it didn't have glaring issues. I can't complete the main quest and both expansions a second time through, it's just too repetitive.

As far as I can tell it's literally one person who spams threads with the exact same formatting

controls are bad you are forgetting about those

having a lot of options doesn't make the combat non-shit

"Bad combat" memers get filtered by all the different classes. Since each monster has their own strengths and weaknesses you have to look in the bestiary to find out what works best, adding a layer of depth that brainlets ITT are too lazy for

Magic always hit though.
>I mean I failed my spell because I rolled a niggerguard with no magick skills
Try casting a spell right now at your mom. Do it faggot, get back to us.

theres a netflix special what the hell, is it a movie im going to have to look this up cool

ok now that is a retarded statement

NOT THIS FUCKIKNG THING AGAIN I TOLD YOU NOT TO POST THE FUCKING HORSE GREENTEXT YOU FUCKING KIKE NIGGER WITHCER 3 WON MORE GOTY AWARDS THAN ASLL OTHER GAMES SUCK MY DICK SONY FAGS HAHAHAHAHA

kind of like how modern civilization is turning out huh? funny that.

all of the characters are black and brown in it

Except there is only like fifteen enemy patterns in the entire core game, which makes you WAAAAY too familiar with all of those way too quickly.

There is nothing else fundamentally bad with the combat, but the variety is really an issue. It's obvious they realized that and tried to remedy that in the expansions.

NOOOO YOU WEREN'T SUPPOSED TO POINT THIS OUT...

Mate, it's my second favourite game of all time, but they do not mix this formula up. This is the gameplay loop, I think you need to sit back, take an objective look at the stupid shit you're typing out and neck yourself.

I feel like this game did what dragon age has been trying and failing with the atmosphere and npc interactions

Why would you want me to kill myself for something I typed

>You'll need to use them all if you play on the higher difficulties.

No, you don't. You can literally gourmet backstep fast attack your way through early game death march and graduate to just alternating backstep fast attack once you get assume ok gear. Once in a while you have to use a gimmick like a yrden trap for wraiths or crossbow shot to take down flyers, but at no time did the game ever force you above backstep fast attack on death march. The enemy patterns are almost entirely the same, the weaknesses don't matter enough to make any significant difference.

There's lots of options, sure, but they're all entirely optional and of you do even half of the Velen you're OP as fuck.

That game is shit. Just play Skyrim.

Attached: Church.jpg (1200x900, 226K)

Feel the same. DA:O was biowares attempt to go dark and it ended up being pretty sanitized. If bioware was willing to actually go dark they could make an amazing game imo.

wow how does this get made i thought poland was based bros its fucking terrible, not even superman can save this irredeemable shit from itself its so far up its ass its technically vomit, what a tragedy.

I have a phobia for white haired men

>Excellent storytelling
Poorly retold fables isn't excellent storytelling.

Cmon I'm just joshing you bro I don't really mean that.

because it'll really help you out in the long run its not going to be good for you to stay alive

play gothic then thats what you want

Pretty much. It has the same problem as Bioware later RPG's, gradually drifting away from RPG formula towards a more straighforward action adventure with RPG elements: but CDPR at least puts some effort into the rolercoaster, where as Beth was actually always kinda fucking lazy about the setpieces, settings and characters.

I like the games, but it's always good to know ahead what you are getting into, and not to make false expectations. I suspect CP77 will be more-or-less the same deal.

i thought it was pretty good but its the kinda game you only play once

Why isn't it good for me to be alive?

You didn't answer my question. Why would you want me to kill myself for something I typed?

For clarity we should come up with something different than RPG when it's possible to play several roles, something like RsP, roles playing game as opposed to one role.

Why does this game get shit talked so much when it is four years old at this point?

Attached: 1485147182493.jpg (1024x768, 73K)

Pretty much because it was the last AAA to leave a REALLY lasting impact - more-or-less the last standard-setter in the industry.

I guess that's true, I don't remember anything about any games that game out in 2018.

Actually thats not a problem exclusive to witcher, there are some other RPG games that give you alot more posibilites only at endgame, mostly because for example some talents by itself are shit but if they are combined with some endgame talents then the combination becomes really deadly. But luckily for us witcher 3 allows us to respec so you can just change build when you get to endgame what is nice.

When i played witcher 3 i literally changed my builds like crazy during gameplay.
But at the end i ended up with build maximizing bonus from euphoria + heavy style + life restore and damage decoctions, and i was able to hit anything for 20k DMG of course i could get even more damage but giving enchants what increases cleave range was alot better options than giving runes what will increase damage (because that bonus wont be useful when it is fucking hard to hit something from B&W without that range enchant)

Attached: 234234234234.jpg (1600x900, 256K)

>many people have a criticism of the game
Rational people: Hmm, maybe something's wrong
This retard: YOU CANT SAY THAT ABOUT MY GAME ITS GOOD YOU'RE SHIT

Well here's my argument as to why I don't like it, it story is much more trivial than the past two, while also destroying a lot of the quest lines originally given from earlier in the trilogy. The game feels very much like a reconning of everything you did in the past, any choices once made don't carry over outside of the occasional tattoo, or random somebody who's dead or not even tho some of those characters could of had very big roles in the story but instead are set to small cameos.

And the memory returning offscreen fucks any potential reward for that arc through the trilogy, while also copping out any exposition for characters like dijkstra, who Geralt knows even though he wasn't even in the books but is glossed over simply cause it's easier to write.

The base game doesn't feel like a true end of the trilogy, it feels like a game that happens to be in the Witcher series, with characters we once knew and enjoyed.

I will give blood and wine the praise it deserves, a much better ending to geralts story than the base game.

TL:DR -- game doesn't feel like it's a direct sequel to the past two games, Geralt getting his memory offscreen feels lazy

Not carrying over decisions from previous games in a significant way is actually fine. The whole idea of story carrying over is a cancerous meme and I fucking wish Bioware never came up with this bullshit.

That said, the story of TW3 is easily the weakest of all the three: simply because it does not know what it wants to be, and stumbles at just about every step. Geralt getting his memory back is a non-issue as well, but the fucking absurd implementation of Wild Hunt and the White Frost are just lazy. It feels like the studio just got scared that their story isn't epic world-saving adventure enough for the budget/market, but at the same time wanted to stay true to the character-driven nature of the previous games: and it all ends up in a cluster-fuck of rather epic proportions. Tons of great opportunities have been squandered: Radovid is awful and one dimensional, Lodge is completely under-utilized, Ciri has almost zero developent, White Frost is reduced to a MacGuffin and so on and so forth.

Here you go:
>the world uses too light color palette, it looks like happy optimistic fantasy land instead of gritty, grey slavic shithole nobody in their right mind would like to live in
>game is too easy, even on Death March you can rape everything
>Ubisoft side activities such as bandit camps, loot crates etc.
>too many monsters. Literally a horde of monsters around every corner. And they're weak as fuck. Fuck drowners
>potions are not necessary to survival at all
>fancy armor suits that don't suit a witcher, even the so called witcher armors
>a billion of swords instead of one trusty sword of each type
>you become the richest person in the universe
>combat is shit not only mechanically, it even looks bad. You expect me to believe an experienced witcher would EVER turn his back on a monster?
>exploration designed around toucan sam vision, playing without it is not feasible
>look for my pan witcher

>>whining about a nonexistent 2014 downgrade
>nonexistent
>>somehow going EVEN MORE contrarian and claiming the first 2 were better when they're all extremely similar
But the first witcher IS better

oh the gothic meme
oof

Those are some of the most retarded complaints against the game I have ever seen. Some of them show such an amazing ignorance of the settings that it makes me wonder if it isn't a bait.

>there are some other RPG games that give you alot more posibilites only at endgame
Many RPGs are like this, but most good ones have more than enough complexity early on to be engaging.

>Fuck off. Give me a fucking original opinion about this game for once.

It's terrible. The combat is bad, the music is bad, the questing is bad due to 4 different versions of batman vision retard gamer aids running at once, the character is bad, they somehow managed to take all the fun out of getting a new weapon/armor in an RPG which is mind blowing to me, the enemies are imbalanced, the potion system is bad and always will be (nobody wants to use shit before a fight), the character is extremely unlikeable, the world and its inhabitants are boring and grimdark

It's actually a terrible game that I played for like 7 hours before dropping forever.

Based

>Since each monster has their own strengths and weaknesses you have to look in the bestiary to find out what works best
Wow, working out which +50% blade oil was best really added to the experience

>Why does this game get shit talked so much when it is four years old at this point?
- Four years is not a long time. People still shit-talk Dark Souls
- Nothing similar has been released since then to take attention away from it.

>take valid criticism
>n- no, you're wrong! shut up you contrarians!
great post, shill

>People still shit-talk Dark Souls
No they don't.

Provide counterarguments then

It just feels janky to control and the itemization is bad for an RPG.

geralt is boring

I am not one of the shitposters but one thing that really bothered me about the game was the random loot system and the gear. There was literally no reason to use anything other than witcher stuff.

Why do people say that the story was good?
It was complete garbage and didn't make any fucking sense at times.
>peasant sneaks up to geralt AND kNOCKS HIM OUT

>There was literally no reason to use anything other than witcher stuff.
That was the point.

First:
"The world is not generic grimdark!"
None of TW games ever was, and neither were the books to begin with. In fact, the books started as a joke play on classic fucking fairytales - using the romanticised vision of middle ages and contrasting it with more cynical logic of generic fantasy.

Armors again are unchanged since the first game. While they don't align with the books, they are perfectly fitting.

The combat is fun, aside from the variety issue. As for witcher turning his back to the monsters: Again this has not only been present in every one of the games, but more to the point, Geralt piruetting like a balerina has literally been the biggest Sapkowski's combat fetish. If anything, this game is by far most accurate to the books, with Geralt now staying close to enemies and dancing between them thanks to the addition of the dodge move. Also, it looks fine.

Exploration is not designed with the witcher vision at all. You are fucking thinking of QUESTS.

The look for my pan quest is both optional and played as a joke, and largely again fits the kind of half-joking tone the series always had.

The level curve/distribution for the game is stupid and punishes you for not being an obsessive completionist.

Skellige was 90% exposition dumps. The couple creepy quests were really good though (the depression-shadow corrupting the Thane, the house on the snowy bluff full of butchered corpses).

Velen was great but you really have to go to the other parts of the game to realize how good that shit swamp is.

I actually liked that Novigrad was essentially a Telltale game, except that Geralt absolutely never has anything interesting to say and never does anything except for what he's told.

Don't really buy him as a cool hero when his relationships with Triss and Yennifer are teenage shit. Keira Metz is the only fun sorceress and it's stupid that you have his old hoes crowding the game.

And yes... the combat is terrible. It is the worst version of dodge-attack in any AAA.

Then why fill the game with random junk?

Its a board issue and nothing more. Every widely acclaimed game is shitposted to hell and back here because its easy as fuck replies, and you fell for the bait.

Most of Yea Forums these days is unfortunately children who do their real posting on reddit or social media and come here only to shitpost.

>punishes you for not being an obsessive completionist.

This is a good thing, you should be rewarded for exploring more and completing more content, unlike Skyrim where the game actively punishes you with the monster scaling system

>generic grimdark
Ah yes, generic high fantasy is much better.
first Witcher was grimdark.
The world described in books was grimdark as well but you wouldn't know because you haven't read them.

Armors are too heavy, Geralt dismissed armour as limiting.

>pirouettes etc.
tastes I guess, I hate this shit. Also Geralt did not turn his back at a monster once in any book.

>explorations vs. quest
Jesus christ, fuck off with semantics. You perfectly know what I mean. You can't find quest objectives in a world of the game (which is tied to exploration) without toucan vision. It's a shit design.

Also you omitted most of my points so I'll check back in an hour to see if you've replied to them.

>The world described in books was grimdark as well but you wouldn't know because you haven't read them.
And this is how I know you did NOT read the books. The constant fucking joke of the series was always, always CONTRAST. Remember that segment with the murdering Halflings? That perfectly summed up the tone of the entire series (and the short stories). But of course you don't, because that would require knowing what you are talking about.

>Armors are too heavy, Geralt dismissed armour as limiting.
That notion literally flew out of the window when the first game decided to sacrifice some degree of fidelity to the books for more interesting equipment model.

>Also Geralt did not turn his back at a monster once in any book.
Yet another proof that you have not, in fact, read the fucking books.

>You perfectly know what I mean.
Yes, I do: You mean to bitch and moan for the sake of bitching and moaning, you little cunt.

Boring open world where you walk from one question mark to the next to view scenes
Would have been better as a vn or telltale game

If I want to play alchemy junkie Geralt, what are my best options? Is there enough money to buy the good jucing potions and herbs?

>That notion literally flew out of the window when the first game decided to sacrifice some degree of fidelity to the books for more interesting equipment model
Even the heaviest armors in the 1st game are leather with some chain and you spend the whole game collecting items to craft them. In 3 you get a suit of plate armor as a quest reward.

>Is there enough money to buy the good jucing potions and herbs?
You don't need to. Once you make a potion you have an endlessly regenerating supply of it.

Same reason Yea Forums irrationally SEETHES over BotW. It's popular.

I present, your show director:

So Witcher 3 then?

she's right, the books are choke full of sjw shit, stronk womyn and weak evil males

The third half of the story is fuckin trash with the wild hunt leader being the most soulless main villain and fjnal boss fight

Well, here's one thing, the same thing that made Skyrim get old real quick. I hate being bombarded with items that have zero context of utility. I started playing for a bit, and immediately got frustrated with the inventory system. I feel like RPGs need to reconsider bombarding players with random items. Feels clunky and makes for needless busy work with management. Streamline things please. Don't want to spend half the game in the menus.

Book Ciri is pretty feminist character. She refuses to be puppet of the matriarchy and chooses her own path.

Yet another person proving that he had not read the damn books. Why do you out of your way to do that is beyond me.

What?
She gets out of her role as a baby-factory of an upcoming king solely because her kingdom is burned to the ground.
She gets out of being poorly-trained witcher because Triss says so.
She gets out of becoming sorceress because she is literally fleeing for her life from Vilgefortz.
She becomes a member of a psychopatic group of marauders because she is literally peer-pressured into it.
She only stops because she gets her ass handed to her.
Then Geralt saves her, a literal princess-in-a-castle style.

That is it.

the environment and setting are good, the combat is repetitive and has no depth but the combat isn't the main appeal of the game. both the DLCs are very good, especially in an era where dlcs are just cosmetics or maps it's a good precedent to set. the writing is good as far as video games are concerned, and the choice of dialogue is varied and has enough weight that it doesn't feel like whichever choice I pick doesn't matter. the voice acting is whatever, I've heard better but I've also heard much worse.
for me the main appeal of the witcher 3 is the setting and the dialogue, which are supposed to be front and center in an rpg so they deliver in that aspect. Blood and Wine especially is extremely memorable, amazing DLC. the exploration itself isn't all that rewarding considering the best gear is shit you mastercraft yourself and most areas with interesting shit are tied to quests so there's no incentive to go anywhere unless I'm on a quest that takes me there.
the quests themselves vary greatly in quality. some are repetitive slogs and some are great unique experiences.
overall i think it's a 7/10, it's definitely not the definitive rpg experience but it's better than a lot of rpgs out there. if you don't like the characters and you don't fall for the settings then there's nothing in it for you, go play new vegas

I agree with a lot of what you said, I can understand the point of carrying the story over, though I think the point there is they started from 1 and 2 it'd be nice to stay consistent.

I personally was interested with the memory thing especially based on how the second game ended, so it was disappointing to me to just skip that arc

That's a huge negative for the series. They tried to claim they had mass effect level safe file transfers and it wasn't even fucking close. The games are so radically different that most of the stuff is just ignored.

>I personally was interested with the memory thing especially based on how the second game ended, so it was disappointing to me to just skip that arc
I think they made a MASSIVE mistake chickening out of the "Triss is a bitch" twist they have clearly been preparing in the second game. Other than that, the memory thing does not bother me, it always felt like a cheap gimmick introduced in the first game just for convenience of people who have not read the books to begin with. So I seriously do not lament that.

>They tried to claim they had mass effect level safe file transfers and it wasn't even fucking close.
MassEffect save transfer was always shit, and they actually stated from the start that these changes are not going to be major. They made that absolutely clear: it's just morons in the audience who misinterpreted it.

This whole safe-transfer is such an obnoxious meme. It has never been done well. Because it's such a MASSIVE resource sink that it is never worth the hassle. A good story with no save-transfer is always going to be better than a mediocre one with it. Case in point, Bioware.
Seriously, screw this gimmick hard. Literally the only good use was the option to have Letho on Kaer Morhen, and precisely because it was such a tiny little detail.

None of it justifies the other things they LEGITIMATELY fucked up in TW3's story.

That's just your opinion, and one that just so happens to support Witcher 3's abysmal save file transfer. So more power to you.

I always lose my shit at *toucan sam vision activates*

Play Soul Calibur 6 if you want good Witcher combat. Geralt is fun.

>WHY DO YOU FAGGOTS KEEP SAYING THE COMBATS BAD
There's just NO WAY that it could possibly be true, could it? It's an open world movie game with inventory/skills management, get over yourself.

>completely subjective bullshit like "the cutscenes are boring."
Wtf do you mean? There is no such thing as an objective opinion, every bullet point there is also subjective.

>Thing is bad
>"N-no stop talking about it it's so unoriginal!!"
Pathetic excuse to try and downplay how shit your game is lad.

Also
>Every Witcher 3 thread
>Just people bitching about the critique but never able to explain what makes the game actually good without some meme opinion or drooling retard bullshit like "hurrr durr bloody baron was soooo good I love Twilight too it's the best love story evarrr!!!"

Everybody read this shii in the baron's voice lol.

>>it's somehow "not an rpg"
That is a little valid, considering much of the main story is railroaded, and you don't see much impact left on the world as a result of your actions. Though the Bloody Baron's quest is a good example of actions = consequences. As with many side quests actually, as well as Geralt's romance and Ciri's relationship subplot. It's little strange that, I wish the main story was similar.

For me it was a middle of the road experience. There were times were it shone like the Baron's quest, that sequence were you travel different alien worlds, or the Blood and Wine DLC. Some areas look really beautiful and the atmosphere is great. The characters are memorable and so is the OST. Gwent was pretty cool too.
But then there were some terrible stinkers, like the ""bossfights"" against the Wild Hunt members, or the bossfights in general, which isn't helped by the combat. That fight with King of the Hunt was incredibly anticlimactic.
The "press button to follow trail" is a shitty vestigial mechanic from asscreed that hurt the pacing in a lot of missions. It shouldn't have made it into the game had they'd been a bit more creative with their mission structure. Even though the world is peppered with points of interest, most of it was unrewarding, as with most loot as well. The combat is genuinely not that great and is eurojank. It's big deal because it's an ARPG. Builds do not exist. Weapons all play the same (even down to the animations) except for slight modifications to their damage.
I also have personal gripes with the story in the base game, and feel like it took it nosedive after you find ciri on the haunted island.
Had this game used souls like gameplay, build variety, and enemy design, it would've been 100 times better. Imagine a TW3 using the same combat and enemy design as Nioh, literally gotay material. But in all honesty, it didn't really deserve GOTY and Bloodborne was much better.

>Everything except the game is amazing guys, that's why it's the greatest game of all time.

I wonder what it's like to get one chance at life and having to go through it as a fucking imbecile, it must suck so fucking much.

user, it's ok. You can like a game that other people don't like. You don't need to convince other people that they need to like it. Just play the game, and enjoy yourself. Personally I did hate the combat though. I just played it on easy and treated the game like a VN.

play for the story ,music and visuals

>refuses to be puppet of the matriarchy
we can't have that in the new show

ItS nOt A RpG ThOugH !!!

(You)

People said that about the combat because it really is the weakest point of the game.
You can also add that it's repetetive, the structure of the quest is too similar, but they are saved by the direction and writting. The game is too hold handy too, and of all the options the game gives you in customization and gear, they dont differ enough to make them stand out.

I still miss a line about fighting a zeugel in a sewer in this pasta

Bad design, thankfully you have plenty mods that deal with the loot and gear.
