How do you go trough the effort of making that stupid thing but still get the aspect ratio of the screen wrong.

>here's your controller bro

Some people work with what they got.

Use a PSP.

I don't know shit about shit but it looks like a vintage item was butchered to make a novelty piece. It looks cool and I respect the work but the result is too heavy and huge to be a handheld.

It's pointless. Plus they butchered a system to make it

It's incredibly cumbersome, doesn't look like accessing the buttons is comfortable, and despite the massive size, has a fairly small screen and has the cartridge protruding out to make it even bigger. Also if the console was working fine and the maker didn't take a broken console with a good case to scrap the insides, then it's also a waste of a perfectly good console.

A reminder that I'm too stupid to post on /vr/

It would be more interesting to make the same thing, but it can stand up, and the controller is a normal one, with a cord.

snes games that use special chips run like shit on psp

>It would be more interesting to make the same thing, but it can stand up, and the controller is a normal one, with a cord.

What would be better, and less destructive, would be to put in an internal flash cart with every game on it, and use the cartridge slot to support a foldable screen to basically make this

Ductaping a gamepad to my cellphone wouldnt look half as stupid as that

Star fox is garbage and you can play yoshi's island in gba with the original sprites

Is that an official addon from Sony? Cool A F

any game that uses mode 7 even slightly runs like ass on the psp. dragon quest V has awful slowdown on the overworld, bringing up the map on link to the past lags, doom is unplayable

Zoom zoom

>add on
I think it was considered an actual console, these were very popular when I visited mexico.

>official add on
portable monitor is (or was) a pretty common add ons back then

you can get literally the same experience or even better with a new 3ds running SNES games with the nintendo made emulator + perfect pixel mode, it looks nice on the 3DS (ironically) thanks to the low res screen
that thing looks bulky, uncomfortable and i don't even want to image the battery life or heat it produces

here is something actually cool

holy fuck

Holy shit how old are you?

I never had a PS myself. Only a NES and then went straight into PC gaming.

My friend had a PSOne and that looks like it would just attach to the back of one.

Never saw them.

28

I had one of these. I remember using it to play Tales of Symphonia on family trips.

Remember portable DVD players?

>I never had a PS myself
So what?
Did you live under a rock? These things were all over the place.

Where's the shoulder buttons?

It was about as popular as the official lan adaptor for the GC.
Which I also never saw, or ever heard anyone ever mention except me from the Double Dash manual.
People just used stapon car tvs as far as I was aware for this kind of stuff.

That looks clunky as shit

right next to the cartridge slot bro.

gotta reach for em.

I'm from a small northern european town. Only a couple friends had a PS. Never saw most of the goofy addons they made for them. The whole country was really big on PC adoption very early so most families had a PC and naturally PC gaming was much bigger than consoles ever were.

Huh, that's odd. I mean, I've been living in a rural town in a shitty post-Soviet country and this shit was common as fuck (mostly thanks to piracy, though). While I had a classic PS1 all the way, PSOne models and attachable monitors were a very common things to see at local shops and sleezy market places.

can confirm. I lived in a small european town and gave 3 blowjobs for one

IDK maybe I've seen them in stores but never paid attention. I wouldn't be looking at a shelf with PS addons when I don't have the console itself.

looks pretty sharp desu
you can also play any DS game natively off the SD card with bootstrap

How good was the LCD on one of these guys pretty serviceable or a blurry mess? I had a 64 so never got a chance to use of these and didn't own a Playstation until the 3. Been thinking of grabbing a psone, BVM, and using RGB, but a part of me thinks the investment ain't worth it.

Some people say that right now it's one of the best ways to experience PS1 games on the original hardware, given that the screen is not a knock-off. I heard it's pretty good for it's time and the picture quality due to its size is very serviceable.

Am I just blind or is there no way to press the L and R buttons?

You care more about appearances then actually playing the game so yes you're fucked in the head.

Also, look at this shit. Not the official one, of course, because Dreamcast was almost completely dead at the time of this accessory release. But still, pretty cool.

god the european console is so ugly

I think that little notch on the right is actually supposed to be an R button.

I dunno, I've always liked the Japanese/European design better. It looks slick. The American one does have its bulky 90's hardware charm.

>work with what they got.
I doubt that the project hinged on that screen. You can source 4:3 screens, or find a 16:9 screen that lets you display content at it's intended aspect ratio, and they don't cost more than whatever shit he used in this...

If you value Yea Forums's opinion (or anyone else's) over yours then you are in serious fucking trouble

Considering that they still use those screens for every portable project to this day, I'd say they're pretty good.

probably a compromise between cost and physical dimensions.

they had one of these at the hospital a year ago, watched the aviator on it

Play the ds version
