I try to but games tend to be pretty restrictive in what you can actually do, and a lot try and pressure you into playing a particular way.

I used to love tracking down ERPers and emoting near them at every line till they get too awkward and server hop.

I usually role play myself when I first play the game and if the game is good enough and allows for a lot of customisation I try to come up with cool character concepts which I then role play as.

All the time. It's part of why I never role a female.

I honestly RP more in games like CK2 or Stellaris. Usually in RPGs I'll pick the choices that I think will lead to the most interesting fuck-ups to entertain me.

During my initial run in an RPG, I'll usually make decisions that I, myself, would normally make.

On subsequent playthroughs, or if I'm familiar with the setting, I'll create a character with personality and motivations in mind and follow that framework for my decisions.

Why dont you use those RPG skills and level up in real life faggots? Instead of starting at the screen for ten hours to level your smithing to 100, how about you plant your face in a book or go to a class and learn a skill for the real world? Level up in welding or some shit. Prestige in art a couple of times and draw nudes for furries for major $$$$.

If the game has mechanics and dialog that support it, yes. Even in single player games. Fo4 is one of my greatest challenges for RP, as you cannot escape SHAUN! every 5 minutes. Plus you are forced into a faction.
