Do you think Resident Evil 2 Remake was better than the original?

The original 2 is a more cohesive and unique package, but the remake has excellent presentation and gameplay.

couldn't have said it better myself

RE2 classic is better

why?

Attached: Resident Evil Tiers.png (1484x816, 675K)

4 is shit to me

original is a great game, remake is a good game.

What did the remake did that the original did better in your opinion?

They both have their merits and one doesn't have to supersede the other

Attached: 1537699204827.png (186x425, 29K)

>no spiders
>g-spawn chestbursts irons instead of ripping him apart
>ivy's are lame zombies with vines on them instead of cool plant monsters
>no big moth

Attached: 1563960703342.jpg (674x670, 77K)

shit list

i think the level and enemy design after the police station falls down a cliff in enjoyability in the remake. in general I don't think they played to the strengths of the atmosphere of the original - the constant darkness and fixed camera perspective makes the rooms less memorable and more generic. basically every story and character change is at best bizarre, and at worst feels like it came from an entirely different game like they did with the gun shop guy. there's a laundry list of stuff i preferred in the original, but I don't hate the remake or anything.

Fuck no

I don't really compare it to the original. They're both high points in the series but they're different games I don't really see the point, except if you want to be an baiting asshole on Yea Forums with a hot take.

Attached: mrx.jpg (352x550, 19K)

nah, I'm not trying to bait, genuinely curious :P

I kinda agree, although I enjoyed that part, just less than the police station

Put rev 2 at b rank and rev 1 at c.

the remake lacks the original's atmosphere, soundscape and soundtrack. I really wish they didn't skip on the opening in the alleys and kept Kendo at the start, I love that very quiet haunting atmosphere and re2 aesthetic which I don't think the remake quite replicated. also the high tech ada stuff sucked.

but if I had to choose one to replay it'd be the sequel, it's more fun.

>it'd be the sequel
meant it'd be the remake, am tired

For a potential REmake 3, do you guys want them to keep the OTS style or try something different, like first person?

Even though I personally think REmake is overrated this is pretty good

Tsuyoshi Kanda: One thing that sticks in my mind, really, is that… when I think back to my memories of Resident Evil 2, the plant monster that appears was really memorable for me. So there I was, I was thinking ‘oh, how are we going to handle this one…’ but then one day I looked at the planning documents of how we were rethinking the story and it was no longer in it.

I was kind of like… “what’s happening here?!” [laughs] I talked to the team and they said well, it’s really hard to make a plant monster in a more realistic atmosphere. We just thought we’d skip it. I told them I needed us to make it work, and that led to a back-and-forth on how to do it for about a year – them saying it couldn’t be done and me as producer saying I wanted it in there. As for how it turned out in the end… we’ll leave it for you to see later! But that’s one of the things I really remember butting heads with the team on for quite a while.

>How do we going to handle this enemy from the original game?
>Let's cut it!

Everything wrong with game development today right here. Speaks volumes really. Damn producers who actually worked on the original game having to tell the team to do their jobs.

Attached: RE2make_Ivy.jpg (691x967, 94K)

remake is not overrated

Hmm. Let me see here, how about
FIXED
FUCKING
CAMERA

Fuck off, retard. No one was being lazy. They have jobs, they work, they don't have infinite time. Game development is all about making compromises, as it is ultimately a collaborative creative work. You can't do everything, no matter how much you want to.

that thing honestly fits less than the plants, also why no naked zombies?

Attached: re2.jpg (900x600, 114K)

It's honestly so different that I don't consider it to be an objective upgrade like REmake was. I think both are worth playing and it's not even worth the time to compare the two.

Adaptive Difficulty ruins survival horror.

RE2MAKE is trash.

There's a difference between scrapped content that didn't make it into the finished product and cut content that was already in the original game made over 20 years ago by a smaller team on a smaller budget. Not only did they have the general framework of the original to work of but also quite a few assets from RE7 to use as they see fit and they STILL couldn't released a properly finished game.

Naked zombies are technically in if you count the pale heads.

becky's game is better than resident evil 7!

Attached: 1558048746886.jpg (676x905, 69K)

gameplaywise is amazing, but they completely fucked up the A and B route deal. they should have just made a unique Leon and Claire scenarios instead of that half assed 2nd run mode

adaptive difficulty sucks, but the game is far from trash

Let's be honest, we're not getting a mainline RE game with fixed camera angles and tank controls in current year.

Fpbp, both are great games for their own reasons.

This. I wouldn't even mind if they split what few bosses there were between them if it still meant I got an actual parallel story out of it.

even as a DLC it'd be worth it

Fag.

Attached: resident evil tiers.jpg (924x574, 136K)

Don't get the absolute reverence for OG RE2 when it's a step down from OG RE1. The level design of the police station is heavily streamlined, it's far less strict when it comes to resource management, and has simpler puzzles.

Attached: 1489404842519.jpg (966x653, 312K)

well, the police station's was top notch desu

Is Umbrella Corps really that bad?

even worse

It's fine but I wouldn't say top notch. It's for the most part a straight path from one key to the next. The mansion isn't vastly non-linear but there was more flexibility on how you solved all their puzzles or made your way through the game.

Resident Evil 0 is the worst survival horror game in the RE franchise and is probably more responsible for killing survival horror than RE4 is, it isn't even a quarter as good as RE7 no matter how deluded your waifu infected brain has become.

It's ok, user, we all make mistakes.

I won't defend RE0 too much (because most of it is awful) but I think the opening ~30 minutes on the train is one of the levels in Resident Evil history. It's an interesting scenario plus really solid level design/puzzles.

Attached: re0.jpg (1920x1080, 417K)

This.
How the actual fuck do you follow up REmake with 0?

>is one of the levels in Resident Evil history

That it is.

*best

The train is really good, the rest of the game is downright trash though.
Again people who think survival horror just died because RE4 came out and BTFO everything are wrong. Oversaturation and decline in quality was more responsible, games like RE0 and Silent Hill 4 conditioned gamers to associate survival horror with outright bad games by default.

silent hill 4 was almost good

Awesome environments and enemy designs, but godawful gameplay. And I literally don't even remember the story, it certainly wasn't Silent Hill 2.

i liked the story more than 3s honestly

Great OST, too.

The story is the best thing about SH4, kinda convoluted but good.

There are a lot of things wrong with it and it clearly came out undercooked, but it's still a good game, I wouldn't say it's better than the original though. 3 is going to be much more contentious as it's the pinnacle of the original 3, and rumor is they're offloading the work on to a third party, so I imagine that's going to be a big shit show.

Gun Survivor was unironically better than 0.

I wouldn't put 7 on the same tier as 3. Aside from feeling nothing like RE with the enemies all being weird black mold monsters, the game loses its appeal when you realize it's just a constant trek from cutscene/scripted encounter to cutscene/scripted encounter. Every time you do anything, you see that save logo in the corner and think "okay, the game's spawning more enemies behind me because I crossed the right spot or picked up an item"

Lil' Zoom Zoom's first tier list.

It pisses me off to no end that Capcom lost the raw data for the REmake environments but somehow kept this trash on a backup server somewhere.

No. The pacing of the original was better.

Also, the remake falls off once you leave the police station.

how so?

You think there were less shooters than Resident Evil style survival horror games? How was it oversaturated?

I think they are both excellent. had great fun speed running both and doing bonus modes. I wish the remake had more dlc desu.

>3 in B
>6 not on absolute lowest tier

Attached: ind3ex.jpg (199x199, 6K)

>why no naked zombies?
They are in the dlc modes, should patch a few of them into the lab in the main game. One in the freezer would be good

/thread
Both games are good.

The train is excellent, but the rest of the game being a second secret mansion was lame.

I still enjoyed the game and like it more than 5,6 and 7

It might've been, had it not been for its shoe-string budget and lack of development time necessitating a whole lot of corner cutting. It's still a thoroughly enjoyable RE title though and hopefully a strong foundation for RE3make.

Zero could have been great if it ditched Billy for say, Richard or one of the other Bravo team guys and was focused more on the weird stuff going on in Raccoon Forest, like that stage in Outbreak 2.

>6
>Bad
you are a fucking retard with no friends.

3 is the best of the classic Resident Evils

Attached: re series tier list.png (1216x560, 593K)

This has got to be the worst tier list posted so far

Remake 2 is solid but it's so boring once you hit the sewers and the Umbrella labs were alot less visually striking.
Its a good game but 2 is still superior

Attached: 1562904711661.jpg (500x500, 62K)

I know i'm ashamed i never got a chance to play Outbreak files 1 and 2

6 is arguably the worst thing to ever come out of the IP period.

Nah that's 0. If we're being technical, there's still enjoyment to be had in 6's mercs mode. 0 is just absolutely boring and not fun to play.

It's actually a very interesting take on competitive multiplayer with some neat mechanics, but the game's so dead and even then there's no real story mode, just playing the co-op RE games is a better multiplayer experience.

You really think 7 is that good? I found it to be too linear and restrictive in terms of exploration compared to REmake and I felt like the puzzles weren't as creative. Good game for sure, but I wouldn't say it was a high point of the series.

can we talk about how Mr. X was such a massive improvement over Jack as an enemy?
I feel like no matter what I do Mr. X is chasing me down and beating my ass constantly in every playthrough, but in 7 I usually only end up getting chased by Jack for maybe 30 seconds because I always get the two dog heads before triggering him with the bathtub

Honestly, I agree with all of your criticisms, however I played it in VR and there's really nothing out there for VR that's as complete and effective as 7. Not to mention it has one of the best gaming twists in recent years that's actually kind of tragic in full context. The shadow puzzles were outright lame and monster variety was obviously poor. But mostly I give it credit for being ahead of so many other games that are trying that format, they really nailed it. I'd just come off of marathoning the series from the original 1 on PS1 all the way up to 7, there's part where you first go into the basement and if you're stupid like me you go a bit too fast because the game hasn't thrown many common enemies at you yet and you get overwhelmed and die. Then you (with the aiming assistance disabled at least) go back downstairs and take it room by room like a man. It was amazing getting to experience firsthand the stuff you only saw from a third person perspective in the other games and I loved feeling like I was suddenly IN an RE game.

If I'd played it normally I'd bump it down a tier, maybe two. Even as I was playing it I was aware any replay wouldn't be as good as this first time through. But i've played a bunch of VR games by now and for the fact it's a pioneer I consider it as bold as what RE4 did for action games of it's time, even if it won't have the same influence.

I think Sherry's character model was a great addition and has been used wonderfully for fan made videos featuring prominent characters from otehr zombie titles such as Left 4 Dead 2

Easily, Mr X was just more dynamic in how his systems worked. I'm really hoping all the RE 3 remake rumors aren't bullshit. Finding out for the first time that Nemesis can fucking run and is just ridiculously aggressive was really surprising the first time it happened.

Interesting. Where would one find such fan made videos, by chance?

Fair enough, I didn't get to play it in VR.

he should have been able to run in short burst, like how they did it in outbreak

Literally the only games I can think of that are worse are Umbrella Corps and Operation Raccoon City

I'd rather play Survivor and Gun Survivor. I'd rather play Gaiden. I'd rather play 0. RE6 is godawful trash in just about every possible way it could be.

REmake 2 has nu Claire so yes

Attached: best girl.jpg (1920x1080, 383K)

Are people still making lewd skins? Or has it died down?

check loverslab and nexus
It's died down a little but it's easy to mod and the game looks so good

Attached: tanlines.png (1920x1048, 1.97M)

Fair enough, I just want a pregnant mod for the main girls bar Sherry obviously.

>Check out RE2 Mods
>Only one worth a fuck is the randomizer
Why does literally every mod have to be Claire lewds. There isnt a fucking sex mod so whats the point

You should learn to mod yourself because no one's going to make that for you. There is a really good tutorial how to do it on youtube. You need to pirate 3DS MAX and Photoshop though

What would you suggest? You can't add manual enemy placements btw, you can only replace entire enemy types.

You want no lewds then gtfo Nexus and check
residentevilmodding.boards.net/board/137/resident-evil-reimagined-modification-releases

You say nobody's going to make it, but they've made a ton of other stuff, could've been made already for how far I've dug into the mod scene since launch.

Every remake or remaster is better than the original, nostalgia tranny

>better graphics makes a better game

Retard alert.

I love Claire.

Attached: 1558571625340.jpg (736x920, 63K)

she's fine, i liked her older versions better though!

Attached: 1511169352122.jpg (682x476, 149K)

>^ the updated ost rocks for me, overall a better game
Was actually my only major complaint about the remake. The OST was very forgettable for me, I did my first playthrough with it then switched to the original.

Claire was made in heaven

Attached: 6334561889988680525.jpg (720x900, 97K)

That seems like more like a quibble to me. The remake is pretty incredible.

They should have just had regular background music instead of that brassy background shit that only served to alert you to when a zombie had aggro'd you.

Attached: safety deposit room.jpg (1920x1080, 346K)

I love that REmake 2 Retconned 6.

Attached: 1564026380486.jpg (640x478, 39K)

Do you also prefer RE1 to REmake? Sometimes I feel like the only one.

That is the version of Claire I like to imagine is married to me for many years, after we have had lots of children together.

Claire is wonderful.

Attached: 1558893749167.jpg (1920x1080, 295K)

How?

Who the fuck cares, it's not like they are going to do anything with plotlines from 6

Claire is a sweet and caring person

Attached: 53004062.jpg (816x509, 31K)

I prefer the REmake

Stop pretending like you know

Attached: Ivy mod.jpg (1366x768, 90K)

It's one of the most hilariously bad games that exists, just look up a video to see how your character holds a handgun it's fucking hysterical
Sherry doesn't get bonded with the G-virus in the end game. It's completely eradicated from her body.
God dammit.

Attached: 1564072394645.gif (689x604, 586K)

These look great, how are the animations

It is my thing or this games aren’t that scary? Except when you’re almost dead, with no ammo and the house is full of red crimson

Resident Evil has never been particularly scary

It's a different timeline. One where Claire wins

Attached: end.jpg (1920x1080, 451K)

Not bad considering you cant change the skeleton from the ones the Ivys already have
youtube.com/watch?v=aoDdaIyLhC0

nostalgia talking here mostly. but the original was more fun to me it wasnt too hard, and dindt try to be scary, zombies arent scary and getting 2 bitten into death by zombies that run as fast as you isnt scary its annoying. and the games too dark for a lot of it. its more realistic than the original but being unable to walk and immeadiatly dropping would be more realistic in cod.

remakes story is better but i wanted spiders, prober plant enemies, and enough ammo and time to kill every enemy and collect every items and be a s rank b superhero. remake doesnt let you do that.

re1 wasnt as fun as 2, 2 gave more ammo and enemies, you werent indestructible but zombies were trash mobs and ammo was plentiful. and it was just hard enough to be fun.

my only real complaint is the strict requirments to get the infini launcher/mini gun. dont lock them behind a three save hard mode. leave that to trophy hunters i just eant to have fun and a normal playthrough does that. gimme a rocket launcher too though.

That's not bad at all, I don't get why they changed the design so drastically in the first place

Sometimes on hard it feels oppressive and you dont wanna leave the safe room

>Pig (Female, 22 years old)

>Place of capture: Raccoon City

>The specimen's body is soft, sweet, and white all over. And it's all mine. Forever.

REmake 2 did the RPD and the sewers better but the original's lab was way better

if Irons killed her then how come she has a zombie bite on her neck when he's prepping her at the taxidermy table?

its an irons bite

The only tier list that matters

Attached: outbreak tier.png (990x412, 76K)

There's probably a hardcore Rebeccafag over at Capcom who bothered to keep all of the old Zero assets. That's my reasoning as to why they decided to keep Zero assets and not REmake assets.

Alyssa players BTFO

>lab area doesn't nail the vibe/aesthetic of the original which is pretty bad
>generally game doesn't seem like its set in the 90s and it breaks the immersion heavily (USB dongles, e-mail GUI that looks like it's from 2025, various slick modern sedans in the parking lot, claire/leon clothing etc)
>complete absence of post-sewers Marshaling yards
>starting pre-RPD segment being nonexistent instead of even longer than in the original
>Leon/Claire have no dialogues, never talk via radio like in the original, instead of fleshing it out they scrubbed their relationship altogether
>The only meetup they have (at the gate) is not only weird as fuck in terms of voice acting and written dialogue but also happens way too early in the B scenario (you literally meet 30 seconds after the car crash and you act as if you havent seen each other for an hour)
>Anette's character is garbage and she looks like some tweaker junkie instead of highly intelligent scientist, her character in OG RE2 felt far more humane and dramatic
>Mr X being unkillable is a good addition and it adds to the intensity a lot but the fucking fedora design just makes him cheesy as shit, terrible design choice
>lack of spiders, green lickers, crows, OG plants
>even regular lickers appear only two times in the game or so
>zombies snap and grab on you from way too afar, you should be able to evade them slightly more easily
>ending cutscene feels rushed and is overall too short and anti-climactic
>new music is some kind of dumb minimalism/ambiental mix with zero memorable tracks, you need to swap the original OST in the settings
>world feels dead as fuck because you cannot interract with anything, even RE4 had neat descriptions for random objects around you, I already felt the disappointment at the starting gas station when I realized I can't "check" anything around me
>less boss battles
>no final birkin 2nd form where he transforms into the spikey dog

>gay as fuck map coloring that tells you when you cleared the room of items, it literally kills all enjoyment about exploration where you just as you enter the room already see that the map section is blue
>inventory is too forgiving, I didn't have to backtrack to an itembox once, too many pouch extensions
>voice acting and dialogues are often more nonsensical than in the original game (most notably everything Claire says)
>way too many defensive items
>burst mode on matilda is useless
>overall atmosphere being lacking, it's neither scary nor nailing the original vibe, despite not being an over-the-top action game it somehow retains the vibe of one
>lots and lots of minor non-canon inconsistencies that clash with the original game (why Leon was late for his first day on the job, why Chris left for Europe, Leon accidentally dropping G-virus sample instead of throwing it away, Ben being imprisoned instead of locking himself up...)

That's not cut content, that's reworking a concept to allow it to mesh better with the rest of the game.

I'm talking about the fact they wanted to cut it and the producer had to get them to compromise. They wanted to cut the alligator too but their reasoning for not cutting it was because "the fans would be mad". Like they had no interest in actually making a committed effort to remaking a game. Looking back on it as silly or "ridiculous", feeling the need to tone shit down for realism because RE is serious business now and needs to be taken seriously.

That's not to say there isn't content that was in the original game completely missing from the remake.

Attached: xa1tlvfr9f411.png (2560x1440, 3.36M)

Why was remakes story better to you? Are you talking about the acting and dialogue sounding more natural or the way the story is told? Might sound spergy but small shit annoys me in remake like how Birkin is shot in the left side of his body despite the fact most of his mutation 1st form is on the right side of his body (where the bullet wounds should be). The original didn't do that. Also Annette's character being a bipolar cunt who wants Sherry to fuck off and die one second then the next is being a worried mother.

This.

Annette was such a strong character in the first game and the few lines she had felt very real and well acted out.
Wasted potential of a remake.

riced garbage.

What are the odds of Code Veronica getting a remake?

Didnt play the Wii game but that's also way better than RE2R. Basically capcom confirmed all my doubts - it's not that they don't necessarily want to make a good game, they just don't know how to anymore.

youtube.com/watch?v=3AQICKJNOiw

>Do you think Resident Evil 2 Remake was better than the original?
No. It was an all around downgrade. Period.

>he updated ost rocks for me,
the demake has NO OST. That's one of its major problems.
>overall a better game
No. It's overall not even HALF of the game the original was. Literally a lazy cash-grab made for shooter kids.

not him, but I prefer REmake 1 to RE1, but RE2 is far superior to the 2019's so-called "remake". Biggest buyer's remorse.

That's kind of different, since RE2make is a fundamentally different game than the original in terms of gameplay mechanics, level structure (to a degree), and even story, whereas REmake is close enough to the original in most ways that it could legitimately be considered an upgrade to the original, even though I personally think that isn't the case.

Yeah I know it's a bit different.
However, the comparisons cannot be avoided, since RE2make was THE most anticipated remake of all times, being on some people's wishlist for 17 years, right from the release of REmake1. The fact that we did not get a faithful, yet greatly expanded recreation of the RE2, but instead a fairly streamlined and action-focused shooter (that lacks content to boot), is nothing short of disappointing.
