uh, what? there is way less random chance than before, how are you fucking this up? it's 100%, 66%, 33% for every successive seal. It's so easy to get that between redraw stacks and sleeve draw, you immediately get full stacks and have nothing to do for the next 3 minutes because divination has a 180 second cooldown. The cards are boring and easy.

The main problem is the potencies suck in an expansion where healing is actually important and the job just isn't fun anymore. I feel like when they were designing the healers, they gave AST fuck all to deal with the new damage so it's stuck with 4.0 heals while simultaneously having all of the fun stuff like time dilation just stripped away for no reason.

umbral soul is for downtime, you spam it when you’re not hitting anything so that you have fully free movement while in ice and don’t have to transpose, or if you fuck something up and you’re about to drop enochain while in ice you hit it

Ive tested this with 24 man's and it definitely seems to be that way
I will do my rotation perfectly and avoid aoes and not roll higher than a 30, but if I auto attack only and let myself get hit on purpose then I don't roll lower than a 70

The game is full of little matchmaking quirks it doesn't tell you about when you use the DF, like trying to match people running something the first with other people running things for the first time, or matching sprouts with mentors even outside of the mentor roulette

Machinist, Dark Knight, and White Mage all together really.
They're completely changed and now they're insanely good, hell Dark Knight is now the best tank since their damage is all insanely close but DRK is fucking unkillable, and White Mage DPS is fucking absurd on top of having the best direct healing of any healer, and Afflatus Misery is just the craziest thing they've ever put on a Healer. Machinist went from hard to play, unfun, and unfocused, to a brilliant job direction that has an actual identity now, to the point that the first 30 levels of the job suggest it could have a "Gunner Class" that becomes a Machinist at 30, like the Original and ARR classes/jobs.

I don't get why everyone says Heavensward is amazing. I just finished it and although the final cutscene was pretty cool before the final boss, it was just meh.
Every character was very one dimensional and your generic "i want to save everyone because im just that pure" or "im an edgelord who's going to destroy the world because im overreacting". The only character that escaped this fate and was somewhat complex was the Pope himself but he barely gets any screentime.

Then you have stupid as fuck cutscene writing a lot of times. Like that moment later on where you're facing the Imperial general Regula and his squad, and it's you, Alphinaud, Y'Shtola and Estinien. In the cutscene he escapes, and Estinien says "damn it!", expressing regret at his powerlessness to stop him from escaping, except the guy literally just did a 180º and walked away. Estinien literally jumped 100ft in the air, landed on a dragon's head and 1 shot him earlier on in the campaign. He would've stopped that guy from running if he wanted.

The game has 0 consistency in its writing.

Superbolide is just Holmgang/Hallowed with a superficial drawback (either of draining your remaining HP or having 2m longer cooldown depending on which side you approach it from). People see "depletes your HP" and go "oh no, this cooldown is awful" not realizing you use invulns in situations where you'd usually lose all your HP anyway, and after you use it, you're completely impervious to damage but without the pressure to heal 100% of your healthbar that Living Dead has.

I can get toxic as fuck in later dungeons because it's a straight line through them with mechanics people have either seen before or give enough leniency to to sight-read or take one stack of vuln-up and then learn.

But whenever I get Haukke manor normal I'm compelled to guide any newbies through with a gentle touch and tell them the doors they need to open and that /return is expected there and nowhere else in the game. That dungeon is just so unique in its relative awkwardness.

BLU doesn't have any set-in-stone mechanics tied to it, but being "flavor: the job" there's the assumption at least that your skills and enemy skills will either work identically or work so similarly it doesn't matter. Like how Moon Flute gives Waxing/Waning Nocturne, a buff and debuff that replicates Berserk's old effect

There could be other ways to do many spells like Moon Flute: Make it give you a big damage boost but disallow the use of spells under its effect, and give BLU a couple of weaponskills to use under its effect instead, hence replicating the "can only physical attack" part of Berzerk.

Opportunity cost. While you're casting weakass fire2s you could be expediting getting back to flares. It's genuinely better to just waste the hearts.

Well, f2 would only be like 150 potency per target and I think it's even slower than a GCD. Flare is 460 and then 280 per additional target. By the time you did three F2s you could have done another Flare cycle and freeze is decent AoE now too

Blue Mage was probably the wrong choice of limited job too. Something far more outlandish, actually unbalanceable and that people had no expectations of ever seeing in XIV like Onion Knight or Mime would have been a better starting spot.
A big part of the backlash it got was from people expecting SE to find a way to adapt Blue Mage to XIV just like they did with every other job, since BLU isn't that far out there compared to certain jobs besides the learning which could have been done in a hundred better ways anyway.
Using a job so far outside the box that their "we can' t adapt it" excuse would actually have some weight may have lessened the backlash.

Addendum: so there's a number of targets where three F2 becomes better than another freeze, F3 and flare, but it's like 7 enemies or so and keep in mind at those pull sizes you aren't always hitting everything.
