Examples include: SMT sticks closest to original Kyuuyaku gameplay, Last Bible makes it more Dragon Questesque, Demikids makes it more Pokemonesque, Majin Tensei and Devil Survivor take it to an SRPG direction akin to Fire Emblem, Raidou makes it ARPG akin to Tales of, and Persona is just SMT but made in a way that it would be more easiliy approachable to a mainstream audience. Megami Tensei is a series of series. Each is very different but unmistakably the same series.

In fairness, I think Persona's issue is Sony published the title, at least in some territories. It's the same reason they aren't getting Octopath. Persona was only weird because of Smash (though that's a topic for another thread).
