I remember PC Games (the largest german PC gaming magazine) advertising the mod like a decade ago and even supplying the whole mod on DVD (it was already 2gb or more back then). It even featured an article comparing orginal game screenshots to the modded ones.
I believe the mod wasn't as absurd and changes were more subtle back then. Loved that they would review new mods for popular games and even write reviews for them, we don't really have that anymore today.

It was really a different time. I just remembered that they offered an 18+ version of the magazine where they would review (and print pics of) more adult games that featured nudity and extensive gore.
Every month they would bundle a hard copy of some game with their magazine. One time it featured Lula 3D, loved that shit as a teenager.
