I started with Totori on PS3 before the Rorona remake was a thing. I enjoyed it perfectly fine. There are probably some jokes and references that had flown over my head but absolutely nothing that prevents you from enjoying it.

I still haven't played the other Arland games though because I got completely burnt out on getting the Platinum Trophy. That was way more effort than its worth in my opinion.

The joke was about Totori's father having no presence, but I think Rorona actually filled out nicely between Atelier Rorona and Atelier Totori already. She looked more adult back then than Totori does now in Lulua.
