cool headcanon op
its more likely they didnt plan the sequels and just had a barebones story to go off

This.
It annoys me how people on this website always make up headcannon shit to excuse bad writing.

Just saying it's headcanon doesn't really prove anything. Can you actually explain the problem with that interpretation?

There’s no problem but it isn’t at all what the writers intended. It’s just logic that you made up to excuse inconsistencies in the canon because all of the Virgil shit was made up in DMC3.

You'e on a board of braindead weebs OP, people who constantly watch anime or read manga where every little expository detail is spoonfed to them with droning monologues. Your interpretation of the scene would only be valid if there was an irrelevant side character standing off in the room at a distance going
>"Wow...Dante's emotions are really flowing out now...These tears, are they only for Trish...? No, but for the brother he lost as well! Such a powerful display..!"

If 1 did get a remake, would you want Nelo 3 to remain unchanged or have him gain Vergil 2's moveset?

How do you know that?

Dante literally hears his mother's voice after he picks up the amulet, addressing Dante and Vergil by name, and saying happy birthday. Vergil was already made to be Dante's twin in DMC1.

What are you talking about? Vergil has been Dante's brother since the first game.

>Dante literally hears his mother's voice after he picks up the amulet, addressing Dante and Vergil by name, and saying happy birthday. Vergil was already made to be Dante's twin in DMC1.

Go to 10:50 to hear it if the timestamp doesn't work

I'm playing this on Hard now, it's so tricky to hold your combos without using Ebony & Ivory.

I suppose that's possible, but I think some people might also just be resistant to believing that the game could have a bit more complexity than they realize, especially with something like DMC which a lot of people view as something silly and whacky. They probably don't want to come across as pretentious "video games are art" fags either, but I think the people who worked on some of these games probably cared about what they were doing sometimes and didn't want to make it all shallow.

>think it's weird dante doesn't seem to care much after realizing he just killed vergil
Did you forget the part where he shows genuine anger over losing his brother?

You mean just making this face while realizing it was Vergil? He looks mad, sure, but it's still a pretty muted reaction. He expressed more when Mundus killed Griffon.

>the despair embodied wasn't a boss outside of DMC2
>but for some reason they used it's design for DSD
>even though it had nothing to do with the creation of the sword
Explain this shit

DSD?

Ugly sword

Don't Suck Dick

Oh now I get it. Brainfart.

The sword is based on Dante's true form, which is a magma looking demon. If Argosax has to become a weapon, it would probably be more similar to Dante's summoned swords rather then his DSD.

It's probably the same reason that Dante's majin devil trigger from DMC2 is referred by japanese name in DMC5 concept arts, as well as look similar to Dante's sin devil trigger in DMC5.
I think they just want to bring reference from every DMC games, so majin/sin devil trigger and DSD/Dante's summoning swords and motorcycle weapon that they planned but never put into work until now are reference for DMC2.

>The sword is based on Dante's true form, which is a magma looking demon
Which is also how Argosax looks like, a being made of magma. And the concept art seem to show that they came with DSD's design by looking at Argosax and Rebellion

Argosax looks like a living fire being while SDT Dante looks like a rock demon with magma inside.
But they sure took some inspiration from Argosax to create SDT.
>That first summoned sword look
>The fire look
>That multiple laser attack of SDT similar to Argosax's energy strikes
I don't blame Itsuno, DMC2 was his first DMC game and DMC5 his "magnus opus" he probably wanted to improve at what was made in DMC2, MDT is the proof of it.

>they used it's design for DSD
I duno what the fuck youre talking about senpai. what about DSD looks anything at all like argosax? besides 'fire= argosax' or is that all there is...

If you beated 2 lol[/spolier], you'd know that argosax's sword hands look exactly like Dante's summoned swords

Attached: Despair_Embodied.jpg (300x186, 12K)

I really hate how they made Dante a fire demon, he wasn't like that in 1, 2 and 3.
They should really change the design away from that idea and make him a lizard/bug demon, he doesnt even have any fire powers on his own, it makes no sense

Attached: 01 (126).jpg (2382x3482, 1011K)

alright user, not as dumb as I originally thought. but still its just swords made of fire which is not a 100% original idea unique to argosax

FPBP

Yeah, but both designs look the same, and it doesn't help that both were made by the same dude

but none of what OP said relies on the sequels, just what happens in DMC1. The sequels make more sense of Dante not crying for his brother since he was a power hungry asshole in DMC3 who dug his own grave.

Tho I agree with the fact that Dante's SDT looks too different from Sparda's, is undestandable why he achive such form, he probably evolved beyond Sparda and achived his own form. But if you look at his MDT/SDT in DMC3 time period, you will notice that he looks like Sparda.

Damn, DMC2 really needs a remake, so many cool concepts poorly adapted into it.

DEVIL MAY CRY'S A ROCKING DON'T COME KNOCKIN' BABY YEAH

>He expressed more when Mundus killed Griffon.
That was less because of Griffon and more because he saw what a sadistic piece of shit Mundus was, he could see him butchering his family and laughing all the while. That’s why he says “he’s the one who killed my mother and brother, I’m sure of it.” Maybe in Dante’s mind he had freed Vergil from his suffering, he was probably more pissed off to see a son of Sparda being used as a plaything more than anything else. DMC1 Dante is all about honor and masculinity.

What did he mean by this?

I just want him to be elementaless as he used to be, it'll feel more natural like that and would look way cooler than the generic fire demon motif they have going on
>DMC1 Dante is all about honor and masculinity.
I find it funny how he made Phantom crash through and fall to his death, all the while he was smirking

Attached: Abyss.jpg (685x1232, 492K)

I dunno if he will be elementaless, user, but it gets cooler as you get use to it. But I also wanted something that would make him less generic and more unique.

Yeah, though to be fair Phantom wasn’t playing nice either, ambushing him throughout the castle. The thing I like about DMC1 Dante is that he never really initiates the shit-talking, if he does it’s usually in response to being taunted himself. I really like how respectful he is of Nelo Angelo, I was kind of disappointed when he mocked Cavaliere Angelo’s “Halloween costume” for a bit of cheap bants in DMC5, I guess he just stopped giving a fuck. Even his “guts and honor” taunt has a very mocking tone as if he’s given up his old values.

Okay Capcom, the game is still selling well. Now where is the goddamn DLC?

>I was kind of disappointed when he mocked Cavaliere Angelo’s “Halloween costume” for a bit of cheap bants in DMC5
He was just making a joke on why Trish is "dressed" all spooky like it's Halloween, since he knew it was her inside. And Cavalier himself wasn't acting so honorable with throwing a motorcycle from behind, No demon was ever like Nelo, probably because he was Vergil deep down

Why waste time making DLC if they can just follow the same formula of releasing a Special Edition later? SE editions sell a lot relatively, in fact it was what saved DMC3 after the initial sales being lukewarm because people were fresh off DMC2's disappointment and had no idea DMC3 was a fantastic game.

The new consoles are getting released next year, perfect time to drop a quick release for them in form of DMC5 SE.

Wait for the Special Edition, Gaijin.

Can I realistically hope for Rebellion and Sparda revamps in SE? Even the sword pierce would be enough or an horizontal drive for Sparda.

No as much work as DMC3 did to flesh out their connection, I think Dante feeling disconnected by DMC1 still makes sense because, like with Sparda, Dante probably feels Vergil had the power and opportunity to escape a grim fate but probably found the worst one due to said power and choice.

With Trish he's seeing someone new into the fold whose power and opportunity in life isn't really hers, and so Dante feels his helplessness all over again with his mother's death. Not just because she resembles Eva but because she was at the mercy of forces beyond her but still chooses to sacrifice herself to spare him Vergil's fate.

He's furious that twice now he didn't manage to give the one person relying on him some small sense of hope.
