>bought a new GPU, it only has HDMI and displayport >my 144hz monitor I already have only has DVI and HDMI, can only get 60hz over hdmi >need a new $200+ monitor or to spend $100 on an adaptor that isn't even guaranteed to work past 60hz
Displayport to DVI dual link costs nothing you absolute mongrel
Nicholas Butler
the basic ones only do 60hz, which I can already achieve with hdmi

>DVI in the year of our lord just get a new monitor gramps or play in 60 Hz, whatever.
Kayden Anderson
Don't buy a POS monitor next time. Intel and AMD announced that DVI was being phased out back in 2012, and it should have been dead by 2015.
Michael Hughes
The monitor was back in 2015 and yeah I didn't exactly know what I was doing
Dylan Sullivan
I stopped using DVI last year when I upgraded my monitor, but what’s wrong with it? I didn’t have any issues with it during my time with it, and was able to do 144hz with it.
My monitor is apparently one of the few monitors that supports nothing higher than 60HZ HDMI even with hardware and cables that support 1.4 or 2.0 HDMI.

>be me >relative in Japan buys me Mario Party on the game cube (forgot which) >can't play since it's region locked
Bad monitor purchase: >buy $30 1080p second monitor for browsing internet from BookOff >think it won't break immediately >breaks after 2 month
Jaxson Young
buy a new monitor, make your old monitor your dedicated shitposting display
