21/24 didn't like skyrim and black ops and ff X
9/9 nice

+SMT4A, SMT4, P3 barely, it was a chore to play, P4 barely again, it was more fun than P3 but anything really meaningful, CoDBO, P2IS, SMT3, P5 barely, this was the Persona game that stuck with me the least, Bloodborne, FF7 though I feel like that might change if I replay it, Raidou 1, DDS barely, it's the megaten spinoff I care the least about, it just felt bland despite the cool concept. Playing DDS2 right now
-DQXI This game is too polished and standard in that it has nothing that engaged me. I suppose DQ just isn't for me., Skyrim
5/5
+F:NV, Burnout 3, WWE man it has been a while, Sonic Heroes though it's nowhere near a fav for me, CoDBO
meant to write lacked anything meaningful for P4, I'm stupid
>never played spongebob and hulk
would heavily recommend both hulk ultimate destruction is the bar for superhero games and battle for bikini bottom is the bar for licenced games
>Modern day Yea Forums users are even old enough to even know about 3/9 games on my list much less played them.
Yes you've caught me, I'm pandering.
Nigga I'm just lazy, I've been on this board longer than the majority of you have been alive.
Check out a game called Grand Ages: Rome you'll dig it user. Vigallante 8 is better than Twisted metal as a series fite me
3D city builders are huge hit'n miss usually.
Vigilante 8 was fantastic, but Twisted Metal Black is the apex of car combat.
3/4 based for having Zeno clash on there.
2/2 Max Payne and God Hand are great.

>Hulk Ultimate Destruction
Absolute patrician.
>Apex of car combat
Objectively false. Zero G had better car combat that Twisted Metal.
it is the absolute gold standard of superhero games
bloodpumping

i love metal gear but find myself revisiting rising more, only because it's easier to pick up. MGS2 has probably my favourite story but playing either can be quite exhausting if you're not in the right mindset.
pungent aroma of an ironic weeaboo, nonetheless some cool choices
high test mgs3 gamers
It really is, the combat and movement are just wild, that charged leap/bounding is so satisfying and the amount of shit you can pull off mid-air is great.
Still blows my mind that it's 720p on an OG Xbox as well.
there should be legit combo videos for that game but sadly there aren't

+GH3, NV, blops
-Sanic (enjoyed it as a kid, came back to it last year and thought it was really meh)
+MGS2
I've been meaning to play EYE, it seems fascinating.
I'm a zoomer who plays 3D brawlers but has never played their beat em up forebears. Is Double Dragon a good place to start, or would you recommend something different? Also based pinball games.
if you're going to have so many games from the same franchises, you might as well condense to a 4x4 or 3x3. Like, we get it, you like SMT, but do you really need all 11 of those?
fine taste but I dislike the portrait orientation. Works well for the PC box style images but is super ugly with the others.
I hadn't heard of Clock Tower before seeing it on you and that other guy's chart, sounds interesting though. Your chart actually has a lot of things I've never heard of
I want to play Ghost Trick and God Hand but I don't want to shell out the stupid prices for physical copies. I'll probably emulate God Hand eventually but I doubt it'd be the same for Ghost Trick
What are bottom middle and bottom right?
+psychonauts, sly, dmc, mgs, bayo
Bottom middle is Cool Cool Toon, and bottom right is Folklore.
what do those numbers actually mean as a rating scale?
Games you like / games you've played.
Clock Tower is fantastic.

I always get flamed for putting sonic heroes in mine, because it's next to entry level 94+ metacritic score games
i don't care what anyone says. sonic heroes is fun

I like the games in a select few franchises more than the hundreds of games I’ve played and I can’t pick between them since they all offer different and unique experiences. I’m not going to list just one from a franchise and let some other game that I don’t like as much as another game from the franchise be in the list.
Basically I don’t want my 26th and 27th favorite game taking a spot over the multiple MegaTen games in my top 10 favorite games.
solstice, the warriors, master of olympus, clock tower, and emperor
I guess I understand. For me, I have such a hard time deciding what my favorites are in the first place that limiting myself to only my favorite of a series helps a lot, both the thin my choices and to open slots.
>best soundtrack in the series by a country mile
>great level themes and environment design
>somewhat self aware entertainingly cheesy writing
>egg fleet
>the underappreciated characters got to be playable and be on equal terms with more well established characters
it honestly is the sleeper hidden gem of the sonic series

That's some based taste right there
glad to see it's getting some love in this thread
Far Cry 1 (realistic), Pathologic Classic HD, Pool of Radiance 2: Ruins of Myth Drannor
I/O revision II, Wizardry 8, Riven: The Sequel to Myst
Cybermage, System Shock 1, Messiah (2000)
Played Myst but not Riven. Why's Riven always get all the love?
>Played Myst but not Riven
Then go rectify that
>Why's Riven always get all the love?
Probably because it's an ideal sequel, i.e. better in every sense
Some things have to be experienced in order to be understood.
Exile and Obduction are pretty good too, by the way, but only play them after you are done with Riven.
>Is Double Dragon a good place to start, or would you recommend something different?
Final Fight (arcade version ONLY), Streets of Rage 1, and Double Dragon 1 (arcade version ONLY) are probably the best intros to the genre.
However, if you just want to play the best of the best, then try Final Fight (arcade), Double Dragon 1 (arcade), Double Dragon 2 (NES), Alien vs. Predator (arcade), The Punisher (arcade), Streets of Rage 2, or River City Ransom (NES).
I'm obviously a huge fan of Return of Double Dragon and Final Fight 3, but those aren't for everybody. RoDD has stupidly little variety, and FF3 was an attempt to work fighting game moves and combos into a 2D fighter.
If you want some other 2D beat 'em ups to try, then here's some stuff you won't see recommended as much, but that gets my personal seal of approval:
>Vendetta (arcade)
>Dungeons & Dragons: Tower of Doom
>Dungeons & Dragons: Shadow Over Mystara
>Denjin Makai
>Guardians / Denjin Makai II
>Sengoku 3
>Gaia Crusaders
>Battle Circuit
>Shodai Nekketsu Kouha Kunio-kun (you'll need the translation patch for this one)
>Shin Nekketsu Kouha - Kunio-tachi no Banka (there's a translation patch, but it's 100% linear, so you don't need it unless you want to understand the story)
>Shounen Ninja Sasuke
Clock Tower (SNES) is one of the greatest horror games ever made. Just don't waste your time with the 3D sequels because they are TERRIBLE.
Thanks for all the recommendations, looking forward to giving these a shot
If you don't mind portables, and you enjoy Double Dragon, then Double Dragon Advance on GBA is fucking fantastic.

3/5 +Burnout 3, Guitar Hero 3, Black Ops -Fallout NV, Sonic Heroes
I liked that Spongebob game when I was a kid but I need to replay it. Sonic Heroes sucks.
3/4 +DMC5, Sly, Bayonetta -Psychonauts
Interesting that you picked the first Sly. In my opinion it's by far the worst of the trilogy.
2/3 +House of the Dead, Super Metroid -Fallout NV
6/6 MGR, DMC, Sekiro, SH2, Hollow Knight, LA Noire
DMC1 is my favourite of the series.
2/3 +Witcher 3, Portal 2 -Oblivion

+OoC, Tetris -ME2, SSU
>hurr dark souls
you missed the point you stupid cunt: a 3x3/4x4 etc. should be about personal experiences about games. You literally want an online dick measuring competition based around the same tired Yea Forums shit tier tropes and npc tastes.
You are cancer.
Cope.
>IGNORE THESE GAMES
>fuck you, a 3x3 is about personal tastes
>muh dark souls design
are you literally retarded?
I don't necessarily think it's a bad game, but I've tried getting into it several times and it wasn't gripping me.
Sly 2 and 3 are up there for sure, but the first game is so easy to replay. And it has my favourite villains and music out of the trilogy.
what I don't get is how you dislike ME1 but have ME2 as one of your favourites
ME2 is the worst in the series to me
ME2 is the only entry I cared for. ME1 had some neat worldbuilding but it was a slog to play and I only cared about half of the party members. I guess the reason I liked ME2 was because it felt disconnected from the rest.
Some motherfuckers don't know how to count.

>a 3x3/4x4 etc. should be about personal experiences about games
user, stop sucking dicks please. My personal experience about Dark Souls is that it's fucking shit and that people who like it are autistic. My personal experience about the Witcher is that it's really boring. My personal experience about japshit is that it's grindy and goes on for too long. Fuck you and your pansy shit. Which is your 3x3? Is Wii Sports on it? If not then you're a hypocritical cunt. Wii Sports is way better than reddit tier trashware.

>hand-drawn frames
i can only imagine everyone involved wanted to fucking die afterwards from the sheer tedium and monotony of that task.
>this means a game is good
Your life is a meme
Didn't say it was "good". "Good" is subjective which means cretins like you can disagree for the sake of bolstering your own self-importance. I said it was a masterwork which is a more objective term.
Frankly, grim fandango is the weakest of the four. Point and click adventures are hardly games. They're clicking simulators
It's a great opportunity to learn photoshop or after effects
It teaches you the basics like masking, resizing, layers, and using guides. You can even get creative and add in hue shifts and add in content aware scale

What are middle and center left?
Middle is Metro Last Light
Who else is hoping for a new NFL street with online gameplay
center left is Call of Juarez: Gunslinger. I really like its take on narrative
Is it western kino?
Here comes the pain to this day had the best season mode, I wish the new WWE games would bring something with that much freedom and replayability SVR 2006 would still be my favorite wrestling game of the PS2/GC/Xbox era
Black ops is still the GOAT cod game, I wish I could go back to that simpler time before I left for college and played all night with my bros
It's pretty damn kino. It's the story of some old fuck wandering into a bar and bullshitting about how he met every western legend in history.
Also if you're on your last HP and the shot that's coming at you will kill you the game will go slow-mo and you can dodge the bullet by leaning left or right. This leads to 1 of 2 outcomes. Either you feel like the most badass matrix sonofabitch out there or you feel like a fucking idiot for leaning into the bullet that kills you. It's an amazing mechanic
What's the best way to go about playing it?
/ / /
+ / -
/ + /
I played it on PC, got it on steam. I cranked up the difficulty and it ain't easy. But when you dodge a bullet that would have killed you or put your last shotgun cap into an Indian with low hp
in a moment of desperation it's fucking brilliant. I think I may have swapped to mouse halfway because of difficulty
>Point and click adventures are hardly games.
I take offense to this because Planescape Torment is a staple in these threads, but that doesn't even have gameplay. Point and click adventure games are puzzle games which sometimes fuck you up with moon logic. Planescape Torment is a novel.
>Sonic Heroes sucks.
your kind ain't welcome round' here
>Yea Forums tells me that Planescape: Torment is a "visual novel"
>Play it
>It's an open-world RPG with quests, hubs, day/night cycle, towns, stats, party members, tons of items, spells, abilities like stealth and pick-pocketing, etc, and tons of scenarios that can be approached with multiple ways. Actually, it's completely optional to do much talking, in fact you won't get as much dialogue options depending on how you level your character
Thank you for putting in the effort to label all 9 of your incredibly obscure favorites. I wouldn't have known what "Tetris" or "Super smash brothers" was unless the text was there
>Actually, it's completely optional to do much talking, in fact you won't get as much dialogue options depending on how you level your character
The dialogue is the only reason to play it over other RPGs, and if you don't spec into Wisdom early on then you're bad
>if you don't spec into Wisdom early on then you're bad
I love the game but thats bullshit, there's no indicator if you are going in blind that you should pump wisdom and shit for more dialogue, its a fault of the game
meant to respond to
The stats are even worse in Dark Souls. After a point, certain stats are literally useless. The scaling is different for half of them as well, so it's very unclear what the hell anything does unless you spend 3 hours perusing the wiki.
you can still beat the game in dark souls with suboptimal stats, in PST it cuts you out of a big chunk of the dialogue which is a main part of the game and is also the only important shit in the ending
Good point. And fuck having to replay through 20+ hours of PST just because you did the stats wrong early in the game.
Just for you
>>sekiro in a 3x3
I'm a fan of action games, and Sekiro is pretty much everything I would want in FromSoft. Constant action with little to worry about stat/customization-wise.

why don't you like dark souls 1 anyway?

All my most recent 3x3s including non vidya because I do not have the not edited version at disposition
Level design goes to shit once you get to Anor Londo and leave the connecting hub world behind.
I hate the combat because it's sluggish in the same way that Monster Hunter is sluggish. It plays as though they wanted the combat to feel realistic by making it slow paced. It's not realistic, it's just slow paced.
The stats are badly implemented.
Magic.
Most of the starting items are useless. Weapons are balanced poorly and some are way, way better than others, meaning there's never a good reason to use those ones.
Inventory is a nightmare to navigate and the UI is confusing. That was a huge disappointment because the control scheme is great.
At least a third of the boss fights are bad. The butterfly in particular. The big fat bosses were bad as well. Some of the good fights were bugged, like Goldstein and Smough. The whole game feels unpolished to play.
The only things I can think of that draw people to Dark Souls is the Berserk dark fantasy aesthetic and the early level design, which is great.
Pokemon peaked with gen 4. Gen 2 is the most accessible if you haven't played through any game fully.

post anor londo is overwhelmiing, especially lost izalith and duke's archives, but catacombs are pretty cool. we're still talking about a game with a god tier 2/3 of game and a meh tier 1/3.
>Most of the starting items are useless.
there are literally weapons and items meant to be simbolic (broken swords, etc.). the facti that the game allows you to use them is pretty good, also titanite.

you think its a small thing? most western games now have shit tier design in both aesthetics and gameplay. the first 2 parts of dark souls are literally a metroidvania in 3d, what else could people need?
>most western games now have shit tier design in both aesthetics and gameplay
I'm well aware. Dark Souls is 1/3 awesome and 2/3 autism. There might not be a lot of good games since 2011, but there's 15 years of playable games before that were at least just as good.
>also, never met any bug as far as i recall.
