i don't really care if hideo does anything or not, he's still extremely likeable
When Kojima-San's masterpiece Death Stranding is released, you will feel ashamed of your words & deeds.
kek
can't wait to laugh at all of the idiots that preordered
kojima invented the steath/action genre, he can invent another one. i'm not gonna say shit else except watch him do it and don't deny his genius when you play it for yourself.
>kojima invented the steath/action genre
just like quiet right? they really explained that bikini bitch really well.
It didn't need any, plus it exposed a lot of SJWs in Yea Forums
imagine spamming this thread over and over again because you think you'll impress Yea Forums
you know you can have an opinion not taken from this board, right?
>sataniaposter
explains a lot to be honest
Still mad, Xtranny? Kill yourself.
That stupid faggot can't write female characters for shit
his best character was Solid Snake and he hates solid snake and called him soulless
another best is Raiden and he just doesn't like him it seems. it just m-muh gray fox and muh big jobber
lul
an actual pile of garbage poster would be better than kojima
True, he's such a misogynistic pig, ughh...
No he's just a talentless hack
See?
This is why I hate MGS redditors, you only care about the plot of games.
You never care about the gameplay, just the garbage story of this franchise.
I hope DS has even less plot that MGSV, ditching the focus on the shitty story is why MGSV is Kojima's best game.
I think persona made strand games first.
like most of the trailers shown for DS so far make it seem very story heavy
Just like MGSV.
For all we know, we have already seen parts of all the cutscenes in the game.
90% of the game is going to be traversing the barren world. It'll have 5 hours of cutscenes spread out over a 50+ hour game just like MGSV.
MgsV is boring repetive garbage
Mgs2 and Mgs3 have much more intesting and entertaining gameplay
hell every other metal queer game does
fuck mgsv the best part was the man who sold the world intro and the hospital escape
Why would Xbros care? We have access to MGS2 and MGS3 on the xbone. That's more than enough of Kojima I need.
>the best parts are the ones interrupted by shitty cutscenes every 20 minutes
Of course.
MGS1-4 are not videogames.
They better than PW and 5
Did Kojima get his own Barry or something? These threads are getting schizo levels of obsessed.
>All this cope
Back to begging for an FF7R port that isn't over a year late, Xtranny.
>worst stealth games in the genre along with MGS1 and Thi4f
>interesting gameplay
Yeah, having a control scheme designed by a monkey with cerebral palsy was an interesting choice.
Who cares how long it takes for it to come to xbox? The fact that it is, is more than enough. Have fun beta testing it.
Brainlets
the hospital part was the only part of the game with even a ounce of atmosphere to it.
Atmosphere, plot, characters...
If there's no gameplay its a failure.
>I love Snoy piss drips!!!!
Classic Xcuckery
Characters Atmosphere and Ost is the best and most important part of anything and everything.
Keiji Inafune and Tim Schafer.
A lot of mentally ill retards jumped on the MGSV bandwagon due to all the dumb conspiracy theory shit, and they've been eternally butthurt ever since.
...
>I love having the inferior version of a game because at least I got it first
im looking forward to all the 'ITS SUPPOSED TO BE BAD ITS A PART OF THE RUSE CRUISE' posting
the fucks a barry?
>Sub-4K 30fps on the Beastbox again
Xtrannies are the dumbest shit-eaters on the face of the Earth
Vidya games can sometimes be the purest form of art as with how immersive they can be. For example
i can't see a Team Ico game being better as anything other than a game.
Beats sub 1080p 30fps.
Yeah, the OG Xbone really is a piece of shit.
>da powwa ov da clawd will fix it!!!
Hehehe
Not focusing in gameplay is like a book not focusing on the writing or a music not focusing on the track itself.
Movie "games" need to die.
I remember being in my room with a tiny crt tv on my xbox 360 watching the xbox one reveal
feels strange was kinda shitty then but it has it's moments that i think back on fondly.
i was playing skyrim dawnguard that day to if i recall correctly
Not focusing on gameplay in a game is like not focusing on PLOT in a book, not focusing on RYTHM in music, or not focusing on CUT in a movie.
That is to say, completely acceptable in certain genres and schools.
>Not focusing in gameplay is like a book not focusing on the writing or a music not focusing on the track itself.
that's your opinion
Movie games can be amazing
I don't know which genres are those, but stealth games sure aren't.
I'm sure there would be examples if that was possible, but if you want to make a movie game, stop pretending and go make movies.
He's about as likeable as a dried out shit nugget next to a nigger whore house in Somalia.
Realism movie games which account for 99% of movie games are straight garbage just like the reality they try to emulate
Seriously when was the last time someone actually tried to make an anime-style movie game? They all try to copy reality which is ugly as shit.
Because people keep parading this false notion that Kojima games are enjoyable as movies despite the actual stories being complete and utter trash. The stories are so unbelievable terrible I am convinced anyone who likes them is either extremely nostalgic for their first ever 3D game or has an actual mental defect.
But will he ever regret his words and deeds?
>They all try to copy reality which is ugly as shit.
I'm so sorry for you user. Buy some acne cream or some shit.
>I don't know which genres are those, but stealth games sure aren't.
It is possibly to create a game that uses stealth as a mechanic tying the narrative together. I guess I have not really played such a game myself, but that is just besides the point.
Gameplay is one of the many tools a game has to create an enjoyable or otherwise valuable experience. It's the value of the final experience that matters, not the specifics of how it achieves it. No single element is somehow magically more valuable than others. Just like in any other medium: the one feature that distinguishes it from other media is not QUALITATIVELY more relevant just because it's used for arbitrary deliminations.
There's 7 billion of you and 1 of me, who do you think I'm referring to you dumb motherfucker? No acne cream will save the amount of shit genetics on this shit planet.
Just a name for a dedicated shitposter. Someone that makes it a personal crusade to shitpost about one particular thing. Like this guy is a Joost-barry. He sits on Yea Forums all day and takes every chance he gets to post about how he's upset about Joost not being in more games. Comes from Final Fantasy where the guy was actually a guy named Barry but now there's the Spiderman Barry in DMC threads and the CRPG Barry with Obsidion. Basically someone fixated on one thing they hate.
randy bobandy pitchfork
Like with say, Eva, I think you need to actually consider them in the right context and genre. Kojima's games are the "smartest of the dumbest" sort of deal. For really dumb and silly entertainment mainly aimed at very young audiences, they have a lot of interesting ideas and were very novel and creative at its time. If you go in expecting silly jap genre antics, then you might be indeed quite impressed with what he does.
Of course, if you actually expect some kind of fine art, some kind of non-genre fiction aimed at educated adults, you are obviously going to be dissapointed. But then again, it might be a fault of your expectations rather than anything.
Kojima is not a brilliant artist, he is a twelve years old boy with unusually creative and unhinged mind. If you approach his works as such, quite a lot can be enjoyed about them.
they may enhance the experience, but without gripping gameplay - it's nothing.
Same as characters in movies - well written and performed characters can barrel through any shitty special effects and dumb story development bullshit, but without them movie is useless.
>Not focusing on gameplay in a game is like not focusing on PLOT in a book, not focusing on RYTHM in music, or not focusing on CUT in a movie.
weirdly enough, all of those exist and 99.9999% of those are universally forgotten and/or remembered as nothing more than vapid avantgarde lazy tryhard (note: "lazy tryhard" usually means when the concept is more convoluted than the effort to pull it off)
Asuras wrath?
Last of Us was okay and that one skinwalker movie game with the guy from mr robot was good for a horror movie
Nigger, Thief: The Dark Project was released that very same year and, as a stealth game, it's superior in every possible way, story including.
Someone needs to do the right thing and hold Kojima accountable for his sins. The world needs to remember what he did.
This is what he's reduced Stefanie to.
>Nigger, Thief: The Dark Project was released that very same year and, as a stealth game, it's superior in every possible way, story including.
he's mocking that guy
Nah, Thief has terrible level design? Have you seen the image? Thief literally stole levels from Doom. Thief are nothing but plagiarists.
>but without them movie is useless.
Except for movies like Microcosmos, Genesis, Koyaanisqatsi, or fucking 2001: Space Odyssey and Stalker?
Plenty of movies are not characterized by their characters. Quite a few of them don't feature people at all.
Yeah, sure. Except when you are not 12 and actually do know about the existence of say, Lyrical poetry or epics, and actually know that they actually constitute the MAJORITY of our literary and musical legacy, you fucking idiot.
Seriously, how fucking dumb do you have to be to say shit like this?
>2001: Space Odyssey and Stalker
>they don't have excellent characters
absolute pleb
I have no fucking clue as to what are you trying to say through the barrage of seething ramblings. Are you saying that majority of classic creative work consists of arythmical music and plotless books, and terribly paced movies? How about you name some examples of said majority instead of ranting like a rabid retard on internet?
Bravo Kojima!
Your game became a huge success!
Characters are in incredibly important part of 2001 and Stalker. The fuck are you talking about.
: Space Odyssey and Stalker
>>they don't have excellent characters
>absolute pleb
t.
>2001: Space Odyssey and Stalker
>characters aren't important
Are you fucking retarded?
>no arguments
>HURR HERE'S A FUNNY PICTURE - SEED THNEED, FEED, YOU SHIT MULCHING FUCKS
well, enjoy your last you, my sweet little shitposter
Vast majority of our musical history of epics, you mongoloid. Do you really, REALLY not know what that word means?
Again, how utterly, absolutely fucking illiterate do you have to be?
Spot the retards who never watched the movies, but will pretend they did because they don't want to fucking look like the uncultured idiots they are.
Ahaha yes indeed, actually NGE and MGS aren't smart at all and in fact very stupid just like the people who believe otherwise. They just haven't experienced anything that REALLY makes you think... unlike us...
>Asuras wrath
How about one with cute 2D anime girls that people actually want instead of gay manime crap?
keep seething, uggo
How insane will Nintendogaf's assrage be when Death Stranding wins Game of the Year?
>Vast majority of our musical history of epics
please actually name some
>Vast majority of our musical history of epics, you mongoloid.
So no examples then
>never watched the movies, but will pretend they did
Found my projector.
You talk plenty about what games "could be", not what they can be.
All movie game apologists talk endlessly about it even though all these games end up being absolutely terrible and a pain to play.
If your game is not fun, you have failed, and these games always fail at it.
Which is why MGSV is the only MGS that matters, it's the only one that has an element that can be potentially fun, while discarding the boredom.
Fuck off, Konami.
Yeah i'm not really sure what to say other than everything about 2001 Space Odyssey is garbage
go back to wearing your long socks with cat ears and sucking dicks you faggot
Never said that you mong.
Epic of Gilgamesh? Illiad? Song of the Nibelungs? The Sirats? The Alexandreids? The Older Edda? Kings Sagas?
THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU?
To complete the list: Literature that do not put focus on plot:
All of lyrical or celebratory poetry (Including Sonnets, Haiku, Poe's Bells, Whalt Whitman's Grassess, poetry of Dickinson, Kipling etc...), entirety of works of Franz Kafka or Bruno Schultz, most of Kawaba and Ibuse's work...
Movies have already been presented.
Again, you fucks. Did you not go to school AT. FUCKING. ALL?!
>want the most attractive idealistic female character 2D designs and not ugly realism or manime crap
>lol you’re such a faggot user
Project harder homo.
>
>All movie game apologists talk endlessly about it even though all these games end up being absolutely terrible and a pain to play.
I never said anything about "movie games", but I still feel obliged to point out that there is no difference between saying "what games could be" and what they "can be". Both simply refer to the posibility of the medium.
Ignoring the fact that most of the big-title "movie games" like The Last of Us, Read Dead Redeption 2 or Alan's Wake did not actually fail, and in fact are couple of them are some of the most fucking commercially succesful titles of all time:
If you want to see what games have already acomplished, when putting their entire emphasis on something else but the gameplay and that aren't garbage:
Pathologic 1/2, The Void, Silent Hill 2, Shadow Of Colossus, Bastion, Papers, Please would be the first examples that pop up into my mind. Really, it isn't that hard.
>Epic of Gilgamesh? Illiad? Song of the Nibelungs? The Sirats? The Alexandreids? The Older Edda? Kings Sagas?
>THAT is supposed to be "majority of our literal and musical legacy"
Case is closed. Enjoy your comfy bubble, retard - you seem to have fun time living in it.
>did not actually fail
I'm talking about them being fun, which they are not, specially RDR2 which might be the game with the worst gameplay that Rockstar has released since Manhunt.
>Never said that you mong.
Sounded like it though? Either way I actually agree with the rest of what you say. Those two Anons are fucking idiots.
I don't think most people actually care about literature after high school
>THAT is supposed to be "majority of our literal and musical legacy"
It straight up is. Epics are by far the most historically common musical/literal genre in human history. Every society develops them, and we only started developing genres such as a "novel" in 16th/17th century in West, and cultures such as China or Japan only developed them largely in response to western import culture (rare exceptions such as Genji Monogatari not withstanding).
And if you don't understand how Illiad or the Saga's are the FOUNDATION of western culture, then again: do you not have elementary education what so ever?
But great how you managed to somehow convince yourself that not knowing what an "epic" is somehow still makes you think you came out on the top of this discussion. Without, you know, saying ANYTHING what so ever worth of saying.
Clearly literally millions of people enjoyed them tremendeously. Now, in case of games like TLOU or RDR I can't say I can understand why, or think it's a good thing, but it is an undeniable FACT, no matter how you personally feel about it.
No. I actually said that NGE and MGS have many very clever and interesting elements and ideas. You just can't expect consistency, sombriety or minimalism from them. They consciously and intentionally build silly genre fiction FIRST AND FOREMOST, and then they just play around with how they can subverse it or otherwise twist it.
Again: I think both works are pretty valuable, and contain a lot of genuinely clever ideas and moments (NGE, I'd argue, a bit more than MGS).
You just can't expect the kind of consistency you expect from "serious" non-genre fiction. They are designed primarily to keep kids 12-16 years age occupied, and a lot of it obviously HAS to reflect that.
>Epic of Gilgamesh? Illiad? Song of the Nibelungs? The Sirats? The Alexandreids? The Older Edda? Kings Sagas?
>THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU?
No one remembers those poems for their musical history. They're remembered for storytelling.
Bastion and SoTC are absolutely games first, you can't extricate SoTC's experience from its gameplay at all, if you didn't have to fight the colossus, climb the colossus, with the same required level of player involvement, you wouldn't have the same game. Bastion is a bit different in this regard in that it is very systems-heavy, though not especially challenging, but my point stands. These are both very much video games and not just interactive entertainment, they rely on their systems to drive player engagement.
RDR2 is an even better example because every fucking thing in the game is gamified, to the point that some people struggle with simply talking to NPCs due to how expansive the control system is. It's not a movie game, it just has a lot of cutscenes and railroading. When people call TLoU a "movie game" it's really more commentary on how shallow a creative experience it really is, it plays everything very safe and was built from the ground up to impress casual reviewers and buyers who don't tend to care for actual depth in their games, instead relying solely on a nice presentation and "grown-up" plot. It is still a somewhat engaging experience, but that's not because it has great puzzles or thrilling combat, or anything like that.
First of all: that is fucking sad and thankfully not true at least in the part of the world where I live.
Second of all: even then, you fucking can't leave highschool not knowing what an "Epic" or "Lyrical fiction" are, or not knowing who Franz Kafka is.
I mean knowing what is Illiad, that Shakespear was known for his Sonnets as much as for his plays, or who was the most influential writter of 20th century and very roughly why he was so influential: that is the kind of shit even a sub-par highschool SHOULD fucking ensure you have.
While you were stuck up your ass for so long, you may have forgotten that the initial point was about discussing the focus of games and that bad games not focusing on gameplay are akin to
>Not focusing on gameplay in a game is like not focusing on PLOT in a book, not focusing on RYTHM in music, or not focusing on CUT in a movie.
Now, having that in mind and without moving the goalpost to what was historically accepted as passable entertainment (cuz they had busy lives and nothing better to do to pass leisure time), name a single one of your examples that holds up by today's standards.
No plotless book or arhythmical music released today will ever gain traction or be considered anything more than vapid avantgarde lazy tryhard.
>It straight up is.
It isn't, but that's not the point. Read above.
My.
Point.
EXACTLY.
You mongoloid.
welcome to /barry/
>calling people talentless hacks when your writing is this bad
this is an 18+ website. fuck off
How did I ever move my goalposts? Literally the only alteration I made was reply to a person who say talking about movies being about characters, and I can correct that very easily.
Since you are clearly severally brain-damaged, let me recapitulate the whole point here.
I stated that games not putting main emphasis on gameplay is like literature not focusing on plot, music on rythm (or even melody) and cinema on cut.
That is: normal.
And evidence for that:
Literature not focusing on plot: Sonnets of Shakespear, works of Kafka, Ibuse, Kawabata etc...
Music not focusing on rythm (or melody even):
Epics such as Illiad, Gilgamesh, the Sagas etc...
Cinema not focusing on cut: Well, I did not provide evidence for that, but from the top of my head:
Marat-Sade, Macbath, 12 Angry Men, most of Tarkovski's works fit once again.
Could you please, PLEASE explain where exactly at any point of this did I "move my goalposts"?
I literally just provided evidence for my claim.
Can't disagree with any of that. I got hung up on the tone of the other post I suppose.
You get a lot of pretentious "MGS is smart for vidya but still dumb lol" posts on here by literal brainlets that think reading basic literature means they know what they're talking about and can evaluate how "dumb" games like MGS or anime like NGE are when they deal with their various philosophical and psychological themes.
I don't buy it for a second, usually anyway.
>tl;dr
M8, seriously... Where the fuck do you think you are?
How about you just fuck off back to your containment board for suicidal faggots and keep screeching about how entire Southern Reach trilogy was an utter Strugatsky rip-off and how much better the original Snail on the Slope was?
Go read a book and drink some green tea with cinnamonor cyanide, whichever you prefer more
>Tarkovski
>not focusing on cut
weakest bait i've seen in a while.
>still this buttblasted after all these years
Well, I guess that is one way of backing out of a lost argument...
except you've failed to convince me to change my point.
Like i said, enjoy living in a bubble, autismo.
Tarkovski focuses on evironment and on composition. He actually dislikes (and he straight up stated that) cut as a device, and intentionally uses it as sparingly as possible. Which is why someone once pointed out that whoever likes to use 12 minute static shots (a jab at Solaris) repeatedly should direct opera, not cinema.
If you want to see a director that does focus on cut, go watch earlier Arnofsky or Wright.
Well, if you are not ever even open to the posibility of being convinced, and WILLFULLY ignore any points made, then there is nothing anyone in the world can do.
Of course, it makes you a literal zealot and a mentally ill person, but again: They can (and probably should) isolate you and perhaps sedate you, but nobody is going to change your mind about anything.
Or - and here's some food for thought - you have shitty communication skills and failed to convince another person.
Not focusing on gameplay in a game is difficult to pull off well, especially if you mess up the storytelling.
Look what happened to Telltale, which ended up falling into a pattern to the point most people would rather spoil themselves on youtube.
Granted - he liked his movies like he liked his paintings.
>nobody is going to change your mind about anything.
Not true at all - the based guy below has convinced me on his point about one dumb element of Interstellar's plot development
archive.4plebs.org
That would be a possibility if you did not wilfully lie about my own points, and not bring up a single point to support your own stand.
You accused me of "goalposting" even though I had commited none: you demanded examples and I provided them, and you have not since raised a single counter-argument or even question, nothing.
You can literally deny anything. And if you chose to do that, then nobody will convince you of anything. But that does not mean they did not argue well.
Are you literally so fucking self-absorbed that you think that when you say NO NO NO and stick fingers up your ears, it's OTHERS fault or problem of not convincing you?
I was half-joking when I said you might be mentally ill, now I'm thinking there might be a lot more truth in it than I originally assumed.
Sure, tons of games cock it up. But that is not really all that important, since we were talking about possibilities. The few that succeeded are still quite remarkable. Enough for us to know that it is well worth trying, even if many (most, arguably) fail in the process.
keep seething, retard
Hello! You seem to be new here. That is not how you use greentext. You seem like a retarded boomer, so I'll explain some things to you.
Thief fucking sucks and no one cares about it.
Greentext is for quotations.
You should lurk before posting.
Thanks!
You do realize that just not typing that would let you keep at least some semblance of dignity, right?
You are literally just saying "look at me, how incredibly pathetic I am" with posts like that.
Dumb brainlet, MG 1 was released in 1987. And learn how to use greentext, stupid newfag
